Wow my first real post and Frogboy replies; Im so honored. Any way, I wrote the post not long after I heard about and researched the game. Upon further study it seems not so much a rival for GC2 but more of a companion. Some days I dont feel like managing every aspect of an interstellar empire, I just wanna kill alien scum Yet on other days I feel the need to create more than destroy. So ins

If that is true then I guess we wont be seeing the Yor and the Drengin in GC3. Good I cant stand having an evil race that is brutish. Ive always like the more subtle evil, like Dracula or an evil wizard. Big brute evil is kinda goofy.

I kinda like his ideas, to say that one person "might" have an advantage if they have an extra system at thier disposal is kinda silly. In reality it wont matter much. Already if a player has some nice planets nearby they have an advantage, so i dont see the piont of complaining about that. however it would be pretty tough to implement, possibly too tough. Also it took almost three hundred years for the europeans to even get a good foot hold in the Americas, there was no colony rush.

I have been following the developement of Sword of the Stars. And it seems to have evrything that GC2 lacked. On the other hand everything SOTS lacks GC2 has. It will be an interesting game and I plan to get it. You can get more info about it at its website, www.swordofthestars.com. I know there are several on these forums who are devoted to GC2 mind, body, and soul, I am one of those, but could this upstart game dethrone GC2? The way things are going it seems to be an interesting game that focu

The problem most peope have with the farm tech is that they build a bunch of lower level farms at the beginning of the game, which is not a comepletetly bad idea considering the cost of getting the empire started, but they forget that those farms upgrade to farms that provide more food. the simplest thing to do is get a population goal for a planet and keep it at that. When your farm tech advances you now have the ability to feed more people with fewer farms thus freeing up the tiles. It is the s

here is an idea. If you want to make a fantasy game, why does it have to be just magic? How about some cool combination of magic and technology. Let me see if I can get this across well. Think Scifi but with spells and wizards. Kinda like merlin with a laser rifle. Ah that I hope Im making sense. What Im saying why stick to tradition? Break some barriers. Ive always looked at those goofy little fantay races and wondered what thier civilizations would be like in about a hundred thousand years. Wo

The part about it being an upgrade from the Discovery Sphere is what makes being neutral so great. If you are neutral you are pumping out tech pionts like crazy way before the other alighnments, therefore an increbible research boost to stand up to the improved weapons and defenses of the other alighnments.

That is the greatest part of GC2, figuring out what to do next. I am a reactive player. I spend most of the game reacting to what the AIs do. That means I try to keep all the paths to victory fairly open. i will conquer the galaxy but im not gonna risk my standing with the other races to do so. this scenario usually ends with me allowing myself to become weaker in the eyes of the AI then paying the two most powerful AIs to go to waqr with each other. This usually starts a chain reaction where th

That is an awesome idea. Lets refine it further, you could start with the flagship but over the course of the game as you recieve techs the flagship could be upgraded and expanded, so you would start the game with a wimpy ship kinda like the servey ship, but by the end of the game you would have some kind of massive death cruiser. Ya know keep the same ship throughout the game(unless it is killed obviously) and just upgrade it and its bonuses throughout the game.

wow good for you. I love the game, I almost cried when I couldn't find it at my local Walmart. I had to drive for almost an hour to find a store that had any copies left. You will not be able to tear yourself from it for weeks. After the initial rush it tends to lose its shimmer, but just take a week or so break from it and when you next play it it will seem so new and interesting.

I agree willie sanderson, you havnt had a real good game until you have one colony left and the enemy fleets are tearing into each other. That is a game. He still hasnt replied. I also cant wait to see what genius fantasy game stardock will roll out.

He still hasnt replied. Good job Brad you crushed him. Also in MOO there was no such thing as precursors. They where actually not that much older than the races that you played in the game. Anyway that was a ggreat story line. Also i do see GC's story to be a bit lacking but that is just from my perspective, Im sure things seem different to the one who created it.

Well in reality space strategy and fantasy strategy aren't that different from each other. Of course if you are doing fantasy plz broaden the races. Most fantasy games have the standard Elf, human, ork?goblin, undead, dwarve, dragon, you get the picture, races. While those are good they should be joined by other, more unique races. But overall I think society would do better than a fantasy game. Society is a unique concept that will attract a lot of attention as it gets closer to release. If you
