STARDOCK TOTALLY AND COMEPLETLY ROXXORS!!!!!!!!!! Well now that that is out of the way, i love the tech tree idea. i have always thought it was a bit wierd to have laser 1-4 and labeling them as such, but I never said anything because I could think of a polite way to put it. I am so overjoyed that you have the ability to criticaly examine your own game. And as far as doing what you want to do, go for it. Im gonna use this time to tell you how incredibly excited I am about Soci

I agree with Dano. the Kerberos crew are extremely nice. I have read several of the SotS reviews and i find most of them to be total crap. Most of the "flaws" they found came from not spending time to learn the game. I admit the first time i played the game I was rather put off. But over a little time it did grow on me and now I love it. also the few things that are wrong with it should be fixed in the upcoming patch, and future expansion. Frogboy, I truly appreciate how civil you are about this

Its laughable to think that religion will have no bearing on the distant future. So called wise men have been saying for millenia that the gods would lose thier power over humanity. And guess what. Hear we are in the year 2006 and world politics still revolve around religion. People who say religion has been replaced by science are seriously mislead, nothing can replace a religion, because religon is never replaced. It just evolves to a superior form based on changes in a society. also religion

I have purchased the full game and downloaded the first patch. i love it. i cant really explain why. You see with GC2 the game started off great for me. Here i am quite a few months later and i find it to be a bore. SotS on the other hand. i didnt like it at first. Partly because of the unusual controls in combat. After my first game, i sat back all disappointed. Then I picked up the manual did, a little reading, and played a bit of the tutorial. Once i got the hang of the controls, the combat c

Once i had a class 30 planet with TWO prescursor mines and a precursor library. Needles to say I did a dance of pure joy then went on to crush the galaxy under my booted, supre lucky heel.

I have tons of ideas but no real programming skill. Althoug i do intend to get that skill and hopefully stardock will hire me. Yes I am willing to move to Michiga

It sounds like the problem is all yours Cactoblasta. GC2 1.0 had its quirks but was far from unplayable. And if you have such a low attention span then get into another genre Im shure the FPS guys would love to hear you complain about it being so hard to aim the sniper rifle from point blank range. Yea why not just have the gun's bullets track, that would let you be able to just press buttons and win. no real play involved.

Hmm. I must not be nearly as sentimental as you guys I either upgrade my obsolete warships or decomission them. In my games the ships that shape galactic politics are the ones I build toward the end of a game. These behemoths boast weaponry several times greater than anything those aline scum can cook up.

Rise of Legends is good. I really like the Cuotl. Sadly it didnt hold my attention that long. Which isnt bad because something has to be really interesting to hold me for more that a month which ROL did. Its main fault was the goofy multiplayer glitches. I think they have released patches for those but i havent played it in almost three months. Hmmmmmm actuall I think Im gonna go play it right now, thanks for reminding me.

Actually in SotS research isnt as important as it is in other strategy games. You see in SotS your dealing more with the finances of the empire, so it might be a good idea to let your researchers idle for a time. Let me clear it up a bit. Every turn your empire generates money. Out of that money you pay for resaerch, improve your worlds, buy ships, ya know that kinda thing. I think what the devs where aiming for was a tad more realistic approach to empire management. In some parts of the game

Well at the moment I am inticipating the release of Sword of the Stars. A little further into the future are Supreme Commander and Spore. Even farther into the future is the hopefully spectacular, unheard of, unparalleled awesomeness of GalCiv3 . Other than that the PC gaming future is looking kinda bleak. Really the only original ideas in the last year have been GalCiv2 and SotS. Besides them the rest

I agree a war with the north cant really be won. Just like every other tyrannical government it will cave in on itself. Once the north Koreans learn whay the rest of the world is really like they will demand that they become like it. I dont think it will be Western culture that does it though. Japan is in a pivotal postion right now. If they stand up and take a leadership role, that region of the world will become much better.

Well recently while playing on painful, the galaxy went through several MAJOR wars. The first of theses wars ended up with the complete destruction of the Terrans, Korx, and Thalans, that was only in the first month of the war. This cycle continued on for a while until the only civs that where alive where the ones that worked together(not allied but didnt kill each other) I was allies with the Drengin and the Torians, but they didnt really like each other that much. Also the Arceans had been pre

Well we became the crowned rulers of the world when the Soviet Union crumbled and left us as the sole superpower on the planet. And since we are practicly the leader of the UN security council well we kinda have a diplomatic victory going for us

Well for one history has shown that the larger a representative government gets the more unstable it becomes. There are several examples throughout history that show this, so the reasoning that a loss of efficeintcy would only be expirienced by an Imperialist government is pretty dumb. On the contrary an Emperor would have far more control than a president ever could. However I do agree that there should be a penalty for expanding too far too fast, like maybe break away states for representative

Ok the main thing people are overlooking is the effect taxes have on morale. I fim not ,istaken it is greater than even the planets population With taxes in the the thirtyish range its not a problem keeping them happy I think only one morale building per farm or one per five billion people on the planet so an advanced farm will require two morlae buildings, add that massive pop with some econ buildings and any world is an econ world.

Well i personaly think your assessment is a little off, cactoblasta. In the demo you only have access to about the first third of the tech tree. not nearly enough of the game to make a good up or down decision. Also things further down the tech tree eliminate or ease most of the things you find wrong. For instance, the reason the battles seem slow is because you only have access to the smallest ship type. Larger ship types enable the bigger weapons and open up more in the way of tactics. I advis

Well im a bit too young to have played TA, but from what I have read it was one of the greats. I will most definately be picking up Supreme Commander, RTS is the genre that got me into computer games(ahh Empire Earth, what a game)
