Any ship defending a planet gets a bonus, so instead of a fleet of four-powers outside the planet he will have a fleet of six-powers defending the planet. Just park a ship on a planet and watch its power go up.

I've never stolen a tech, advanced espionage or no.
Let the survey ship occasionally find a new galactic resource in an anomaly that everyone must rush to claim.
I vote simply giving them a module for movement, but make them VERY slow--only 1 per turn, That should work fine. Terror Stars moved that fast in the other game and they were almost completely useless, so this wouldn't break anything. You'd still 90% of the time just build a new terror star on the spot you wanted it. One advantage
hit Escape, click the "Interface" tab (I think) and underneath the place where it says "Full Battles" there is a checkbox for "show fleets in full battles." Or if it says "Normal Battles" then click the arrow next to it to make it say "Full battles." Somewhere in there you will get fleet battles turned on.
Think about it this way. A ship is the only thing a class 4 planet can produce usefully, because it's the only thing that is produced and then flies away instead of taking up space on the planet.
Maybe you have to be more creative... Build a 20-move transport and zip it right into the middle of the one guy's territory. Then gift it to the other guy. That might set them off.
United Plants Vote Hey, I just had an idea for a new custom race, the United Plants. They start with Terraforming...
If I had ever seen a default ship that was even half as good as I could build with the same technology, I might pay attention to them. It's like they only fill up half the available space. Two-speed colony ships, indeed.
They work on your homeworld, they just don't work for the moving your homeworld button. Right? Which I don't think you should be able to do anyway, it doesn't make any sense.
you lowered your spend rate to 0 when you were reaching for the military slider? I dunno
Yeah, hit F7 for the shipyard, then click the ship and click Delete.
Now that you mention it... yeah. In the first game I played evil, and in this game I pick evil. And I had played for hundreds of hours before I ever got to try out a Wraith, because I always ended up Good or dead.
Yeah, imagine if you could go evil all game in GC1 and then pay to be good so you could build Paladins. You always would! Edit: I uninstalled the game today, but I still like the forums, and maybe if I hear enough good stuff I'll come back.
The only time that's happened to me when all my ships were out of range, I think, is when I gave away all my planets to another race.
I rarely play races but I think I played the wrong ones... didn't know they got anything as sweet as +50% defense.
I did hear that your ships are displayed using 100% recycled electrons, at least.
Ah! I was stuck in my old mode of "why pay for hit points?" and didn't realize that the rule had changed to, "why pay for hulls?" Yeah, I could probably churn out the little guys as fast as the Dread Lords do, and I wouldn't need as much Logistics either. Thanks!
I could have ignored them, but that was a gig galaxy and my system is not to good, so that having so many ships on the same spot was affecting perfomance a lot. It was making the game lag so much that it took me about half a minute to destroy each ship and it was a pain in the butt to scroll over that area. In the "Interface" options screen yo
The winning strategy against the Dread Lords used to be killing them with first strike (I got enough logistics and used five cargo hulls with Plasma Weapons). Now that the defender can fire back, you lose one ship every time you combat a Dread Lord. They can surround you with 30 ships, so it's not easy to win. I haven't managed it yet. What I'm thinking is the only way to do it is to completely ignore all the Dread Lord ships. Build a bunch of ten or 13-speed hulls, including tr
Every defense is more expensive than the matching weapon. At the high end, they are double the cost. And in theory, it should be just the opposite of that. If you have a fleet of five ships, every one gets to use its weapons every combat. Only one gets to use its shields. So shields could cost five times less than weapons and still be balan
Hey, Kryo, thanks for the tip!
I'm talking about the full fleet battles. I don't think the AI is doing any thinking then. But when I have a battle over a planet, it runs just as smooth instead of going frame by frame whenever the planet is in sight, the way it used to. It's definitely improved.
This update is a big improvement, and the things you're listing are all pretty minor issues. As in the AI is 75% of the way to making perfect fleets, just not 100%. That's not that bad. I get SOOOO tired of pooring a gazillion constructors into developing a starbase, only to have it easily picked off by a strong fleet. I agree. T
I don't believe the AI has the capability to recognize or oppose a tech victory even on Tough. One suggestion in an earlier thread on this topic was for it to possiby embargo its trade routes with you, knowing you were planning to leave it behind.
