Oh, yeah. In 1.1 there were even times when the computer would build nothing but embassies on entire planets! It's much better now.

What hijackers post?
The missiles in GCI filled a nice niche. When you were ahead they were a waste of resources compared to Dreadnoughts, but when you were behind they saved your *ss.
Moiiska, that is not huge. Tons of other strategy games have been put out without that feature. I am kind of disappointed that the mod is not a full play experience, but after playing the campaign, not surprised. I wish the original post had just said, "Why is there no German translation for the final patch?" I bet it would have got the exact same answer and not made us users look like jerks to Stardock.
I'm not ripping on your card because I have a GeForce 2 also, and I don't even think it has that MMX thing, but since I saw how good the ships look on my friend's computer I've decided to just wait until I get a new one to play the game some more. My ships only display in solid colors and his have all this cool lighting and texture and stuff.
To give an idea how old that card is getting... he are a couple of games that just came out when the card was "new" Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Aliens vs. Predator: Gold Edition Star Trek: Armada Star Trek: Klingon Academy Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 Yeah, but I am very slow to approach new games. I wai
does this baby run GC2? The ships come out in solid colors with no lights or webbing. The movies don't work. I've played a good hundred hours or so but I'm feeling like waiting for more updates and a Vista-capable computer before I play more. Basically GCI was as sophisticated looking as a checkers game so I never gave a thought to GC2's gra
The advantage of a survey model is that it's a lot of sensors in a little space, but high cost. You can fit plenty of sensors on a cargo hull without adding a survey module, so you don't need the sensor capacity. Cost is more important. I would send out the first ship or two without researching sensors. You'll locate more anomalies, find planets and enemies faster, and probably end up upgrading the ships into constructors or colony ships. Later build your survey cargo hull, if you
But if you see a resource or a planet X sectors away you should be able to design a ship and know if it has enough range to get there, and you can't.
I'm pretty sure the Arceans and Iconians will be the ones to go in the expansion. How do you get cred for being evil? Kill something good and reclusive and harmless (Iconians) and something old with a long history in the game (the Arceans). And they can't defend themselves because they don't have any good abilities.
Big squares are fifteen little squares wide. Best I could do is figure that you get one sector for free and then it starts counting from there. But the actual range of a ship you build is something you get a feel for and never really know precisely. The map shading works great, so it's all right.

I'm sorry, DreadArchon, I have been playing with the beta so long I forgot it was not generally released. In the beta after your ship runs out of moves the camera stays where it is and you can click on something else. Yes, your concern was very valid and they listened to that and fixed it (kind of).
I can't believe he actually got the developer in here to answer this post. Anyway I was going to mention that Magic: the Gathering is a game that has two biweekly columns by lead designers explaining their philosophy about the division of abilities between guilds and the appropriate power level for creatures. So it's not necessarily dumb to ask the developers to justify design choices if it helps keep people from complaining that their favorite tribe got nerfed.
I voted for more politics. I was thinking of a game I played in GalCiv I where I had my own tiny corner with three planets and decided to stay aloof and win a Tech victory. I was still involved in the game every single turn to counterbalance the strong and build up relations with the hostile. I never fought a battle and it was so fun to pull all the strings. You can't even bribe the computer to go to war any more. I remember a Masochistic game where I was helpless before the Arc
The constructor rush is lame, and so is moving 1 a turn. If they could be made somewhat unique they could be more powerful and useful and fast without being unfair.
The reason this is a good idea is 1) it makes the AI look good to the player. Like all through GalCiv I I never realized that the Drath might pay people to go to war against me. I didn't know they were that smart. I've never noticed the AI stealing tech either. Didn't know they did. 2) it helps your strategy. omg, they stole my doom ray! research beams. Basically the fun of these games is that you know every last detail: what building X does to your morale,
Ooh, you know what I'd like to do? Put the computer on Fool intelligence with a 2000% econ bonus and see what percent of the difficulty level is due to the AI's strategy versus its resources.
I'm not that attracted to the background tunes. Compared to the stuff they've already fixed this is much less important. It does alter your perception of the game as something that "works," so I guess it could affect sales somehow. The built-in MP3 player of the last GalCiv would be much more nicer.
The auto-focus doesn't pull you away until you hit tab. So... don't.
Yes, it is cool, Arfs a Lot. For example, in GCI I flipped the morality of all the races to the opposite and it was really funny to hear the Drengin and Korx cuddling up to you like the friendliest things in the galaxy.
1. Logistics got a lot more important. If every ship gets an attack then the number of ships is more important. Doesn't compute to me. If every ship gets an attack then there's less advantage in numbers. In 1.1, if you had a large hull versus four small hulls that attacked individually three would die. But if they attacked together none woul
Someone should totally make custom races of the Star Frontiers races, I'd download that in a heartbeat. Yazirians, Dralasites, Vrusk -- woohoo!
There are three reasons you could feel they're making the game worse: 1) They're trying to please someone else, and displeasing you 2) They're trying to fix one thing, and breaking something else 3) They're evil bastards and delete five random lines of code every beta to watch you scream. 3) is not it, so I think your post would have been more effective if you had just let us know about this (maybe they never use auto attack, I don't) and left off the sentence "Why are
