A little more -- I forgot to mention the extreme attractiveness of a "1 through 10" aggression slider to me. I have mostly stopped playing the sandbox because I'm waiting for this feature to come out. I've been playing the campaign and waiting for the news that Huge or Gigantic galaxies will have actual warfare again. like what e-stab is saying about adjustability. For example I'd like to play Masochistic with about -50 to diplomacy so I wouldn't be tempted to all the micromanageme

You know why this is a good suggestion? Because it helps players create their own game and not have software designers create it for them. You can please customers a lot more by letting them customize the game what they want to play. Look how much you've improved the game compared to other 4X games by being so open to user feedback. I hated Civilization 3 as it came out of the box. You couldn't rule the world because every city after the 20th was 100% corrupt and couldn't produce

Hey, if graphics cards are that cheap, maybe I'll get one! After I saw how pretty my friend's ships were compared to my two-tone models, I decided to put the game away until I got a new Vista-capable computer in 2007-8. But I didn't give up the forums yet.

This definitely happens to me but it's really hard to pinpoint when there is and isn't music. You just notice after about twenty minutes that it's dead quiet. Kinda sucks when there's no internal MP3 player.

I didn't mean mod the colony ship but mod the initial colony improvement -- if the computer is smart enough to realize it's not worth paying for.

Well, your original post suggested a ten colony limit. It sounds like what you really want is not a hard limit but something that would keep you from wanting to expand past ten colonies, so that you could take your time and expand to the others later. Try modding the cost of an initial colony, I think the computer is sensitive to running out of money and won't colonize too fast if it's too expensive.

I had put a little work into finding the absolute best combination of weapon size and miniaturization, but if they're going to tweak things like that without telling us I better not continue. (For example, the best and cheapest Beam ship with 2 power is a small hull with Laser II and Impulse II. For three power research to Advanced Miniaturization (cheaper than Laser III) and Impulse III.)

You are getting the concept of "flagship" from the tech description of Starbase Mobilization which says "make a starbase the flagship of your empire," but that's just misleading flowery language and doesn't translate into anything in game terms.

I have heard about that turn button problem before. I think. Ctrl-N has always been a shortcut for New Map -- in case your original start is in a lousy position it generates a new random map to start on with all the same game settings. I don't know if there is a shortcut for next turn. Ctrl-T maybe?

why how many times have you launched surprise attacks on the AI even with friendly terms... it seems the AI is so strong that it's even learning stupid human tactics... At first I was thinking "Hey, that's a good reason for the AI to treat the human player different. We do sneak attacks." But then I thought, you know, if I have the difficult

I usually build only factories and research labs on all of my planets. I then research trade and a bunch of range techs, build up a fleet of tradeships, and then send them all off to the farthest planets in their range. You can't really afford to wait for the freighters to go all the way across the universe when you're heading down into debt.

If you dont belive me load up a game of Warcraft 3 go into a game and say your female, watch as everyone starts whispering you asking bra size, color of panties, ect ect. I have actually done this, I am so ashamed now. When my opponent told me she was a woman I was like "Yeah right, no women play this game" and I said "sure, I'll touch your br

EDIT: After uninstalling, and then re-downloading through Stardock, my new version of GC2Types.xml does indeed say SizeMod for Titanium Armor is 4. So some changes have taken place. I'll post an update when I get it assembled. Wow, I hope you have some automated way to do this, but still it's an effort and I appreciate your contribution.

Hey, I don't know, but right now I'm imagining a mod where all the core ships are actually the most useful ships you can possibly build and they look cool and you don't even need to design your own except for special purposes. That would be neat.

12 Replies 18,657 Views

The only effect it could have is making it less expensive to purchase ships and pay over time. In GCI Iit did not have much of a noticeable effect, either on ship purchasing or on the ability you had in that game to pay for technology trades over 20 turns.

There's a built in colony limit in the game -- the number of planets. Want fewer colonies? Play with Rare Planets. Your complaint would apply better to a game like Civilization where you can build cities on every little square.

15 Replies 15,140 Views

Because your basic initial colony costs 12 a turn, so each one you start is like killing a couple trade routes. Look in the colony manager in the beta how much money each new colony loses right from the start, no factories.

Hey don't call him stupid. I've always designed my own but imagine games like Civilization or the original Galactic Civ. You don't have that many predesigned units available -- Warrior, Phalanx, Legion, Horsemen, Knights, Musketeers, Riflemen. Or Star Fighter, Defender, Battle Axe, Frigate, Battle Hammer, Battleship, Death Knight, Dreadnought. It's just that the GCII tech tree is broken down into bits so you can design a ship halfway between a Battle Axe and a Defender, or halfway

I like to rush buy a lab first, then three factories, then another lab, then an entertainment center, then two markets. Buying markets can't be cost effective, can it? You spend 600 gold now for an extra two or three a turn. I usually build my Econ Capital on my homeworld early because it has more factories than all my other worlds, but I un

I think it would be fun to play a game where in the exploration phase I could already see where all the good planets were! And always to know when the enemy fleets were coming. And to know I couldn't sneak up on the computer ever. I bet the computer plays a lot different with all that sensor knowledge. You were lucky to get this event!

I just discovered today that when you're in the battle viewer and choose the "Free Cam" viewing perspective, you can click and drag to shift the point of view, roll the wheel to zoom in and click the wheel to rotate the camera. You can get the perfect camera angle and watch what you want to see! This is very cool and I thought maybe other people didn't know about it yet.
