anomalies should continue to randomly occur. This way it has some value.

They also stated that in 1.11 the military rating would be more reflective of what your actual rating should be. I think it still needs some work as my fewer ships are rated lower but every war I end up destroying the opponent. I think the game has to also look at size of ship as well as the techs involved. Bigger ships with good tech are more likely to survive. I generally have very few ships but they have good attack and great defence. I can have 1 ship take out a fleet out 14 or 15. They just

I think the best way is to start off with a good race. Then choose every path that is evil. After the colony rush I am always close to neutral so I reseacrch ethics and go neutral. I end up with all the planet benefits and all the neutral benefits with the biggest being diplomacy. I can trade with everybody and I do. If you do this you get all the planet tiles saves the research. You spend that research on diplomacy. Trade for a tech and then trade for money or more tech and you more then make u
I had this error in 1.1 and reported it also. It crashed while saving on the last turn of the game after every other race had given in. I have yet to have it in 1.11 but have not played it much. Really interested in if the preload fix works and if so how do I change it. I play well but never mod or make changes to any code.
34 I like the fact that many different ages can and do play the same game.
I sent the report but it did not post. Will try again now. First 3 times when someone went to the desktop it went to not responding at alt ctrl del. Then I followed your suggestion and played the entire game from saves. At the end I posted to the metaverse. The only problem is that a game I started at suicidal scored as masochistic for some reason. I don't know what happened. Anyway, when I finished the first time from saves the game crashed on the final turn saying out of memory. I eventually d
I have posted this elsewhere but I guess this would be the best place for it to be added. What about changing the metaverse. If you eliminate saving then everyone has to play all their games through. Example you login and start a game it sends an autosave to the metaverse, every 10 turns it chagnes the autosave, then when you logoff it changes the autosave (keeping the game current). The idea is you start a game you have to finish it. Everytime you go to the metaverse and click play it sta
I always play on gigantic now and this strategy is what I use. Lower tax for sure to get the 100% growth. You need the growth to send the colonies. Set research to 100% and for the first few turns buy factories while researching speed. When you get the speed switch to 100% production at this point I am down to around 2000. This 2000 BC I use to cover the loss from the little tax. Send your first couple of colony ships with only 100 people. Then your next 3 with 500. The idea is the low pop
The 1 of each type gives your 3 for each if I am not mistaken. The 4 of each type gives you 8 and so on. This is why it is good to research the different defenses. However, 16 of one will give you 16 on that one but 4 on the others still not bad if you can match the 16 to the dominate attach tech of the other. I personally like to pump up one really high and then if he starts changing his weapon type I upgrade the ships to the other type (expensive but cheaper then making the replacements.)
When you get the tech in the game you cget full usage. In sg1 and in real life if you found a great piece of tech you might get some usage but no way full usage. The point about giving a few small planets to take them back to get great tech illustrates how this is not working. The chance of this occuring needs to be lowered and the odds of getting a tech above your level should be reduced depending on how far away it is. You have Laser 1 and then the odds of getting Laser 2 should be say 20% of
That is the point! If you can restart a game and load it when you run into trouble how can you compare anyone. Everyone should be able to win at any difficulty. It may take longer and more reloads but the end result is you will win. The metaverse is to allow us to have a comparison between different players. How can you have a comparison when everyone can get whatever result they want. This is why I really want them to consider the saving on the metaverse. When you start a game it generates an
Great post. I new defense would be better but I am glad it actually works. I am looking forward to the challenge of facing the game where I know that I will lose ships if I just match the number with attackers and not worry about the other ships. What do I mean: my current strategy is to look at how many ships the ai has and then just take my superior attackers and match the number 4 ships to 4 , 3 to 3 .... This way since my attack is soo high they die and don't touch me back. Now if I do that
First, deciding to be good, neutral or evil does give bonuses. If there are problems with these bonuses they need to be fixed. So saying just change it is not good for many people like me who just play the game and do not mod in anyway. Second. I play neutral and I like that I get the extra tiles from my planets without researching terraforming. However, I hate having to manually go into and delete my research places to replace them with NLC. I play on gigantic. I just do not use them
Just wondering but given the ability to save at all in metaverse games why keep the scores. They are pointless. If you had a bad go then just reload. If stardock wants the scores to count have each of us allowed one saved game to stardock server. Then when you start a game your stuck until you finish. You logoff and then login back in and continue. No new game until you finish means: Every game counts. Loses will be posted by everyone. No exploits on save that allow everyone to
get rid of saving to your pc and most of this becomes mute. If when you logon you save to metaverse (1 file per person) then when you start a game and leave you come back and cannot start another until you finish the last. This way all scores count. As to control n I never use it. Bad start, too bad. Personal option if you want to use it. As to the settings I think you should be able to pick what type of galaxy you want. I do agree it would be nice to have the settings available to view but I wo
I agree that losing games should not count. This way everyone will post all the games they play. Truth is I have not lost a game yet as I did alot of playing before trying metaverse (lost a lot of those) and when I started playing metaverse I didn't know you could load the autosave to continue later and would not be able to finish the games I played. I do have a question about this. I am still not sure but if you can load all games then why worry about metaverse scoring anyway. I look at it as y
I think I have changed my mind. The Torians are still the worst for my game setting suicide and gigantic as they just get too much pop and own too much. The Arcs seem to always do well. The game for the ai is solved in the colony rush which I always lose at these settings. Torians win it and then end up with an insane number of people. They are beaten later but it takes a long time to land enough transports to beat them. I have stopped playing against them because it takes forever to grow enough
I compare it to moo games for fighting. The combat bug here has been fixed. The attack first exploit that made defense impractical should make a huge difference. In the moo games you had tricks in fighting by using missile ships and playing the running away fighter. This means you can only compare the ai based on the ability is has at building and diplomacy. This game is amazing at this. There are a few problems but everytime you notice one they fix it in the next patch. Example: ai building to
You can use the minimap to zoom in but it is still difficult to tell if the color is similar. It makes sense anyway to have a filter so you can tell your enemy from allies or neutral. I was playing gigantic and one of the races had so many ships flying around that I had trouble spotting the one I was at war with. I could see almost the entire galaxy but they kept going near the other ai. There would be 6 fleets from 1 guy and then the 1 from the enemy. Sometimes I would not notice until they att
My last post did not show so I will try again, sorry if it double posts. I play on gigantic and suicidal now and the games take longer then 10 years. Many times you find you are up against an opponent who out produces, has more money and military and the only advantage you have is tech because you traded to get everything. When this happens the game slows down as you slowly take over a system at a time. With all their ships and the ability to replace them it does take a while to win.
I play on gigantic and have stopped playing against the torians and the yor. They just get too many planets at the initial colony rush. At suicide level all races are difficult but the one that starts off with the most pop can really take advantage of the bonuses and these 2 races always give me a very hard time. They have 20 planets before I have 8. It is hard to catch up to them. Any of the other races have had times where they were easy or times where they are hard but these 2 drive me nuts.
I lost my manual and am not sure where to find the bonuses. I know that the ai gets crazy bonuses on suicide which is what I am playing I just wanted to know exactly what the numbers are. If someone has these numbers can you post them for me please.
In another post is states Control N... instead of regenerating a map, it takes me to metaverse log in screen. Which I guess means it regenerates the map so if you do not like your start you can try again. I have yet to try it myself. Suppossedly there is a bug relating to this command when trying to play on metaverse. My thinking is if you get a bad start then you get a bad start. That is life deal with it. Just like you. If you were born with money, nice p
I have this problem at my work computer. I went to add an extra character so I could set my original as default so it would show the medals and no add character. I am running ie 6 here as well although it is on windows 2000 so maybe that is the problem. I plan on checking at home later on my xp pc but it did work when I set my first character.
