In the original post he said he was fully researched. I have gone into the minus with all races. It comes when you have paid for the research and paid for the ships to be built but the research had not finished yet. When this happened when I started returning armada I was around -100 but went to minus 6 when the research was completed.

The drath will improve but for some reason the ai does not do well with the drath. The other races all seem to do better then drath. They are almost always the first or second race gone in all my games. This upgrade will help but they will still get the boot early. I have no idea why they do bad but they just do.

I do not know if it is working properly but ever since I started using it I easily outgrow the other races at suicide level. It does seem to be worth the pick. If it is capped maybe you might want to just go with 30% and use the other points. Population is important in this game so it is a valuable pick.

It takes a long time to finish the games on gigantic. To start all over again would be unfair for the people who play on these map sizes. It would take them a long time to make it back to the top. The system is better now then it was and stardock will make a recalculation again if it gets too out of whack.

check the posts this is been reported many times. Basically as I understand it, both the ai and player get an extra turn of move with no production.

wonder if it could be military bases. I know that when I upgrade my bases my freighters show the upgrade. Maybe when you attacked they received the base bonus. If this is not the case then it is a bug. Although I am not sure if bases are supposed to upgrade ships with no weapons. That may be a bug as well but I am not sure.

why would you post the same problem with 3 different posts. It sounds like you missed something anyway. I just do not get why you bring this up 3 times. Please do not do this in the future. There are alot of posts to read and going over the same topic from the same person agian and again slows the process down.

I play gigantic maps with most things left the way they are setup by default and not noticed any lags. I hate the crashes and I report the debug when it happens but no real lags. I think the difference is that I turned off the combat viewer. I leave it on if I am not sure what is going to happen against a particular opponent but usually I have it off. If there was something you could do as part of the combat I would keep it on but since you can only watch what will happen anyway, why bother. It

In my last game after conquering everyone I had at least 4 planets over 32 PQ. I had the 1st pq bonus and was a neutral society. It was alot easier building on planets with soo many tiles. I did not start with any of them but I did end up with them. 2 of them were 35, one was 34 and one 32. If I am not mistaken the neutral gave me a bigger bonus to pq then the pq. When I researched the ability to open up all the tiles some planets went up a little and others spiked alot (not sure why the differe

It would appear possible. If you allow yourself invasion. I have played on suicide on gigantic and started with only 6 planets )which would be like starting with 2 or 3 on a smaller map). If you allow yourself to invade and take over other planets it could work. If you limit it yourself on invasion I think it would be harder. Actually, lately I have been starting with less and less planets. I used to go for as many as possible but ended up with a lot of small planets that the ai said

It is true this is one of the first forums where I have noticed that what is talked about is also implemented. I have seen on other forums many ideas talked about for months and they never show up. Stardock is great at making the changes.

Remember everyone has their own style. The key for me is diplomacy if you have tech trading. If you are playing no tech trading then the key is economy. If you are the best diplomat with tech trading you should have no problem with money and tech as you can trade for cash and tech. It does become more difficult with tech trading off. In this case you have to get a real handle on finances. The most important techs for me are the government and good -evil techs. These improve your diplomacy a

First, I think the 5% is close. Second, I do play at suicide alot and will be finishing my first one on a metaverse game soon. I played some before I started posting on metaverse. I found back then that I need to re-load alot so did not want to play on metaverse until I could play a game without re-loading because of a problem. I think it is a form of cheating to load old saves because things are not going as you like. So I think I can say that my opinion should count. I do not think

I hope it is not finished because if it is it makes no sense. Let's take a look at the top 3: 1st place : agreed, suicide, great scores, gigantic galaxy, conquest victory (hardest way to win) 2nd place : makes no sense at all "EvilLcLoNe" has one game completed with a low score. 10971 on normal setting and it took 33 years (not good shows that he hit the end turn olot or was not dominant) 3rd place: has played 1 game at suicide and had a political win which if you setup everyone t

There should be some way to make sure the scores are submitted. As mentioned by others once you start the game the score will need to be submitted. Maybe, if you don't submit it you get a penalty or maybe you cannot start a new metaverse game until your last game score is submitted. If nothing is done about this it does make the scores meaningless.

YOu need to factor in the size of the planet on smaller planets the farms are not important or very ineffective. On larger planets you need them to boost the population. You will need social buildings once the pop gets higher but you do not need as many as everyone is saying as if you are do the research and get the trading techs the ones you have will be effective. My approach: Big planets: farms and stock markets to get cash. I leave some tiles empty (starts planet to focus o

The other factor is that social spending will be transferred to Military if you run out (not sure if it gives full credit as I have noticed if I click on focus military I get things build quicker then if the social is transferred). Extra research spending gets transferred to the next thing in the tech tree. Extra military spending as I understand it just gets wasted.

Not sure if this is possible but would it not solve the problem for saving if it does it by turn. THe current situation as mentioned here many times is that you and the Ai both get an empty turn in which you can move but produce nothing. I thin kthe problem relates to the game trying to save everything in the middle of a turn. If the game was altered to save at the beginning of a turn only then this might stop. The only problem is you would not be able to load a turn part way through. You would

I never decommision a factory. If you need the improvement to add a farm or social then start building transports for a future war. I also never buy the social at the beginning. At the start lower the tax rate and buy research or factories depending on if you want to start making ships or researching better speed before making the ships. Later the factories will make the social quickly on their own without you buying them.

14 Replies 9,587 Views

Speed also determines the number of times you can attack. Many times I have gone to attack a planet with a powerful slow ship and found they do not have a fleet manager and I have to attack many times to destroy one ship at a time. When I use the faster ships they can attack again and again. Also, there is nothing like the options that fast ships allow for travelling around the galaxy. You need less ships for defense as your speedy ships can catch any attackers. I now use a base speed of 25 for

26 Replies 17,960 Views

It depends on the size of the galaxy. If you are on a medium galaxy with 4 planets you can survive for a while with those planets. i was stcuk on a gigantic with 8 planets and still dominated. Just buildup those planets and then when you have the best tech send a fleet off and destroy the first race you come in contact with. The advantage is that the few planets will be well populated. Many times we over extend ourselves in the colony rush. A few well pop planets can do as well as many with just

THe game does have a different type of atmosphere. Addiction, the next turn problem. I find I am working on different things and never want to stop. It creates a game play focus atmosphere. The diplomacy makes you have to consider (suicide) what actions and things you do. The characters are a little generic and could use more and the planet idea is a good one (obviously moo fans) but on the whole the game pulls you in.
