I wanted to play a game where it me as the TEC and then the computer AI having one account as the Vasari on Hard in the Arelion (or whatever it's name is) sector which is the largest map. I figured that would give us both time to build up and have some massive fleet battles across multiple star systems. Instead, out of the 5 or whatever stars that were out there, we both wound up in the same freaking system. X-( Does that always happen if it's just you and one oppon
@grandgnu: probably not, unless I suddenly get better at managing my time - or get dumped or fired!
Thanks for the update Rav. Ah well, wishful thinking. That game is going to be hella fun once they start modding it for Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, Battlestar, etc.

RAV, I loved your mod for the previous patch. But I'm most interested in Sins of a Solar Empire, which will feature really awesome real-time battles that would look absolutely amazing with a Babylon 5 theme to them (or Star Wars, Star Trek, etc) Any chance you might consider that when it comes out in Feb 2008?
crap, are you trying to out-modest me? no way, no how! *gets on the floor and kisses multi's feet*
Groveling? Nah, that's a foot fetish and perhaps masochistic tendendcies. Not that I know anything about such deviations.

If a good chunk of people interested in this game were completely blindsided by what they expected of the Vasari and what they got, are we all just insane? I don't think so. The problem is that there was information provided by the

Schod, you are a lame troll, plain and simple. If you aren't interested in Lord Kosc's mod, then there's no reason for you to download and install it. As such, there's no reason for you to even be in this thread, except to be a lame, useless troll who constantly insults the intelligence and abilities of others. You have an ego problem and are hiding behind the anonymity of the internet. You offer nothing of value to this thread, you are only here to cause drama. You are a loser and
*gleefully presses the ignore button* no, I'm not ruining another thread to engage in a childish debate about social intelligence, I at least add something of substance to this board.
Passive-aggressive much? You say you won't get involved in a childish debate and make sure to toss in an insult at the end of your post. You even have the audacity to jump into threads such as the one about LordKosc's mod for the Vasari and insult people. If you aren't i

The only negative social interactions I've had are with YOU. The majority of posters here have had negative social interactions with YOU. I guess the rest of society is wrong and you're the only person who's right? BTW, don't you have to pack your juicebox for school tomorrow?
Edit: @GrandGnu Personal attacks don't lead to anything, so please let's not start with them. It only achieves a hostile tone on the forums which would be sad for us players and even worse for the devs. After all, it's still a pretty nice place here. Schod, you're applying your limited knowledge of our own species approach to things. The Vasari appear to me to be a race that subjugates others and uses them as slave labor. They would not be trading with the TEC or the Advent, they would be enslaving them. Perhaps replace trade ships with slave ships that help boost productivity or increase mining resources, etc.

Shod, you aren't even 18 years old and already you exhibit a complete lack of social skill. You constantly tout your superior intellect and "skillz" in the game because you're "uber". Nobody cares, and nobody seems to like you one bit. You'll likely tell us you don't care if we like you, since we're all a bunch of parasitic idiots who can't grasp the greatness that is you in multiplayer. But the majority of people here who wish to play this game don't want the Vasari to play

I also want to point out that the load screen in Beta4 for the Vasari mentions that the TEC have "No central orginization or military technology" This wasn't something written a year ago, it was something given to us within the past month. Vasari shouldn't be using trade ships at all, it makes zero sense with anything that's been written about them. And I would think that if I were the Vasari on the run from an unknown enemy, I would likely apply a "scorched earth" pol
oh I hope the devs dont give into the "I dont know how to play this, make it simplerz!" pressure. but if they make the vasari as OP and 1-dimensional and (frankly) simple (cough) as many people on this board seem to favor, then I may have to reconsider my relationship with this game. or more simply: if too much ingenuity gets taken out for the quipping and whining going around these boards, I may consider going to. I'm simply not up to having a game of "TEC, TEC 2.0 and TEC 3.0" [/qu

I'm just saying that players like us are very excited about the potential this game has. And we're the type to not only purchase this and future products, but to also talk up a game we enjoy (in this forum, in our blogs or other forums, etc.) which helps to bring in more sales volume and attention to a developer. These guys don't have the marketing power and dollars of an EA behind them on this game, but support from the fans can never hurt in getting the word out about this game.

Schod: Multianna, LordKosc and myself are not calling the dev's liars. We are paying customers who are excited about their product. We are simply relaying to them what our expectations were with the product, and how we feel it will not meet those expectations given recent developments. In the end, their goal is to make a profit, on current and future titles. This is best accomplished by ensuring that they deliver products that meet the wants of their customer base.

Yarlen, thank you for chiming in, despite giving validation for Schod's beliefs. My problem is that the TEC are listed as "primitive" and even the Beta when you play the Vasari shows a screen saying that the TEC have no organization or military technology. So for the TEC to be presented as a "brute force" while the Vasari are made some finesse race really blows myself and many other players away as to what we expected and wanted from the game. In the end, it's your gam
yep and it was cool to actualy see the vasari as strong (more or less) as they should be only in your twisted head...
Schod, you've just confirmed what we all thought about you. It's one thing to defend your arguements with the "I'm right, you're wrong" crap. But to come into a thread and bash everyone here who enjoys this approach to the game and who wishes to play it is flat out wrong. Stop trolling. If you don't

Hey everyone, I just wanted to see what others thought. Currently I find that I don't really use many of the frigates and cruisers available. This is based on only playing against the AI, not multiplayer, which does not interest me. I typically skip or produce very few of the following: Scout Frigate-It's just too weak to stand up in a fight, and too much of a pain to micro-manage it's exploration. And setting it to auto-explore results in it being killed all
Nonetheless, we hear what people are saying and we have a flexible and powerful data driven engine that we can use to change things to improve the differentiation in a very short amount of time. Speaking as myself and not an Ironclad rep, I am in favor of making some of the unique elements of the Vasari available earlier to make the differences noticeable sooner and I'd like to exagerate the power and unit count differentiation a bit more. Fewer units, but m

Glad to help Multianna. From what I've read from many other posters, it appears the majority agree with our point of view, rather than Schods. He's just trying to be overly vocal about his side to drown us out (and he continually insults other posters as well, challenging their intelligence, etc.) As paying customers we should certainly be heard by the devs, as should Schod. But I honestly believe that: -the tech tree for the Vasari & TEC -The special abilities

Schod, The Vasari have been a spacefaring and planet conquering race for a lot longer than the TEC according to the Lore. The TEC are listed as "primitive" with little experience in military technology compared to the Vasari. As such I think it's perfectly acceptable to expect that the Vasari will vastly crush any TEC ship 1 vs 1. The key to balancing their superior technology is that they are only an "exodus fleet". They're just a break-off group of a once-m

Schod doesn't grasp that we the people who are going to play this game have every right to have an opinion based on the information we were presented by the devs about the various races. I personally do not want to have the Vasari act as some espionage, hit-n-run, micro-manage the crap out of the ships & abilities, etc. type race. They should be vastly superior tech-wise to the Trader forces. They're on the run and only have about 100 years in each destination before they have
