Didn't you read the forum rules? You're required to read every thread before posting! Get with the program! Also, avoid any post with the word "carrier" or "multiplayer." I know it doesn't make any sense, but trust me on that.

No, they really shouldn't lower the requirements. Your card is going on 4 years old, if you can afford to buy the game you can afford a new video card ($50 should do it). They are very easy to install, you can plug in a cartridge and tighten a couple of screws, can't you?
Thanks for your help. I finally got it to work by deleting cookies, now everything works well. Weird.
I decided to finally play on Metaverse. I was messing around with the character JPG file and attached one to my character as a test. Now every time I try to change the JPG, the original one remains after update no matter what I do. What's really strange is when I select the new JPG the file name shows up correctly and everything, but after pressing update the old picture shows up, even though it has been deleted. Any helpful advice would be appreciated.
I'm hoping for a Space:1999 conversion. That would be sweet.
I like to focus on research and trade after the colony rush. Then I make a bunch of tiny defenders, one for every planet, and continue to put everything into research and trade. The defenders usually are enough to prevent a rush, as I've researched weapons before anyone else in most cases. I never upgrade the defenders, and just wait until I am invaded because of my apparent weakness. After I'm attacked I use all that money I've made with maxed out trade to purchase top-of-the-line ship
I had to take a break too, I had the same situation. Version 1.4 is much more stable. Hell, Dark Avatar beta is more stable than the GCII launch.
How many planets did you have with those 16 foreign agents?
I have played at least half a dozen games and have yet to see a bonus. I figured they didn't exist on DA at all in the beta. I vote for a balance between the bonus cornucopia of GCII and the bonus famine of DA, or perhaps making it a game option in setup.
A noble, strong, universalist race? I think the Alekrons will soon become the main course in many a Drengin buffet. Mmmm, Alekron. Tastes like chicken!
You got it, I actually remembered to run it this time. It's a lot easier than I expected, that is a cool little program.
Holy crap. Guess what I will be researching?
Oh sweet, that's actually a ship frame? I thought they were just placeholders because the hardpoint arrows were so huge compared to the other hulls. That will give me a lot of options with custom ships... looks like another night will be lost in the shipyard.
What does it do? I've been playing Korath for a bit, I've seen it on the tech tree but have not researched it yet. Is that a unique technology?
I stopped using mIRC years ago. Too many perverts, it got to be annoying. They're everywhere, and I couldn't nuke them all.
Yes, I think you need to download mIRC, it's been a while. It's like a chat client with a huge amount of chat rooms.
I wish this game had a hotseat mode, that would be so kewl.
Single player games= complaints about lack of hot seat/multiplayer. Multiplayer games= complaints about missing or inadequate single player campaign, bad AI, and/or faction balance. MMORPG= complaints about player balance, tweaking, and griefing. FPS= complaints about rockets and other explosives being overpowered and unfair. You can't win.
Because it's a game designed for a single player. Every game has a finite amount of time the developers can spend on it. I'd rather they spend ALL of that time on enhancing single player, and not on adding hot seat/multiplayer. There are a lot of great hot seat games out there for you, try Space Empires IV.
I crashed on quitting the beta 1a release also, it just hung up and I had to quit at the task manager. Debug mailed in.
There are also some blank hull models with the Korath (new to DA, I think that's the name of the Drengin clan offshoot), I brought up one of them and had a block with huge red hardpoint markers. I'm assuming these ships are work in progress?
Sweet, I'm happy it's not something wrong on my end. Thanks kyro, I'll try to actually play DA tonight instead of just goofing off in the ship designer.
I've changed my in-game resolution to 1280x800 and the game runs fine filling 3/4 of my screen, the bottom 1/4 is my desktop, my desktop is still at 1280x1024 resolution. Is this the windowed mode? I cannot resize the window, though ALT-TAB works fine. This is a different presentation for windowed mode than I am used to, so I just want to confirm whether this is working correctly.
Started playing DA last night, really a great job. For some reason I really dig the ship intelligence screen, great idea. No crashes, but I'm not able to play in windowed mode. I have the newest patch for my GeForce 6800 and am playing in 1280x1024 resolution (matching my desktop) with 32-bit color. I've got a ticket open with Stardock, but if anyone knows a fix I would appreciate it. The new ship design candy is excellent, I didn't get much actual playing done last n
This is an example of how different play styles can be. I take forever to do anything in GCII, especially in the ship designer, which I probably "play" as much as the game itself. Have you tried Space Empires IV? If IRC it has a hotseat mode. Maybe that would take care of your hot seat space empire fix. It also has tons of mods out there for it. This is an example of a game that was made with multiplayer in mind from the start. Don't even bother with SEV, it's way too buggy t
