There are great TBS hot seat and multiplayer games out there, sure. And when I want to play hot seat or multiplayer, I play them, not GCII. I think GCII has a lot of "candy" that would bog down a multiplayer game. Ship design in multiplayer? I can get lost for an hour in that thing without even noticing. I don't see anything wrong with making a game that's created with just a single player in mind. You can go into great detail, much more than is tolerable for a multiplayer gam

I for one have no interest in multiplayer. I would rather the programmers stay the course and make their existing code as bug-free as possible and enhance it with extra features (like Dark Avatar). This game was created from the start as single-player, I bought it fully aware that it was for one player, and will play it exactly the way it was intended. If I'm in the mood to play multiplayer, I will play a multiplayer game, one that was designed from the beginning as multiplayer
Great idea!
Too bad you don't know what you're talking about. I downloaded 2 v1.1 betas without SDC posted by a programmer in a thread on this forum in the month after release. I'm sure Frogboy can set you straight, why don't you send him an e-mail to educate yourself? It's also unfortunate you don't know what "passive aggressive" means. I guess it makes you feel empowered to insult others who request a link. Whatever gets you up in the morning.
Regardless of the fact that the patch is beta and I should download SDC and "deal with it," I would still like a link to the beta without downloading SDC, just like the link that was provided without SDC for 1.1. If you don't like my request, you'll just have to "deal with it."
Yes, could we get a link? I'm reluctant to get download SDC, as the game itself does not yet work right for me and I don't want to add anything additional to the mix. I'd really like to play this game without my computer shutting down and hope the patch helps.
Yes, can you post a link here so I don't have to download stardock?
I'm a little jerky on video (specifically the one where you first launch medium ships), but otherwise I'm good. I love this game, and feel sorry for you guys trying to get a game to run on 8 billion potential combinations. Too bad Apple didn't win, eh?
I forgot to answer your question about problems I'm experiencing, HEEGZ. Occasionally a total crash and reboot. I don't think it's because my videocard overheats, I've got a case with this neat heat waffle thing on one side and 4 fans... no to mention it has happened within an hour of playing. I play pretty slow, and there wasn't much going on, no wars, not even a ship on each planet yet. When I restarted, I shortly after that got a crash to desktop with "error caused by g
Thanks HEEGZ To answer your questions: 1. My page file is maxed out at 1150 or so, I have it set to 1100 (more than that gets a memory kernal error). 2. I spent all my funny money on the videocard so I could play this game (I had a Voodoo 5). I made sure my memory met the minimum requirements (which I thought meant I could play the game). 3. I defrag and run spybot and PC-Cillin every week. I may not have the newest hardware, but I am totally up to dat
I had the same thing happen to me last night an hour into playing. If it is overheating, that is very strange, as after the "hard crash" with reboot I played another hour or so with a crash to desktop. After that, I played for 4 hours straight with no problems, and a lot more ships. Note the "memory leak" at the bottom. I have the newest drivers... the newest sound card driver for MUSE is 2002. Sound seems perfect, though, no cutting out in tutorial
My game is doing the same thing and we have the same video card. It ran fine for a day or two, but has started to crash more frequently today. I have the newest drivers for my video and sound card (the sound driver is old, but the newest available). I have had the a crash playing today, but the game is much more stable than it was initially. I am reducing the background stars to 500 and turning off the background stars in ship design. I'll let you know it that stops the crashing completely.
I haven't played a game on my computer for years, after a bad uninstall from a game destroyed Windows (Pool of Radiance, horrible game). I work on my home computer, so just stopped gaming on it and played on consoles instead. However, when GC2 came out I could not resist. I loved the first game and had to play this one. My old Voodoo 5 just wouldn't cut it, unfortunately, and I couldn't find any new drivers for it I would trust, so I went out and bought an Nvidia 5500 card (all my anc
