Hey Marc, The formula you posted is complex to me when I am forming fleets and I want to know which ship gets hit first. Too many times I have made a fleet and looked at the order listed and not been happy which ship gets blasted first !!!!! That is why you are a Tough level Officer and I (and other players) are trying to improve our game skills.
Wow, thanks a lot Mumblefranz, Yes, I can keep the planets I grab. I have destroyed all the Dreng escort/transport fleets, it is the battle fleets I have no answer for. So grab the Manufact world, then the homeworld ??? And then that sweet tech capital world ???
Thanks for all your input Mumble. The Dreng attack fleets seem to be happy following my spyships around ... Not sure at this level how long this will work. (at lower diff levels it was a good strat). The other AI civs are in my pocket (all are at warm). I have many save games, so I can adjust as needed. What I have found at this level (AI 100%) is that the darn Dreng have targeted me, for good reason. They see me as the best victim of thier aggression. I am glad the game is this good.<br
No flame stuff here Defiant03 !!!!! Fleet battles are very difficult to predict. The whole attack vs def and fleet target ship order are very complex. And also is the paper/rock/scissor thing for weapons/defense, also has a similar affect with hull sizes as well ... This is a very complicated game combat-wise in many ways. I have Excel speedsheets to analyze the battle factors and I still can get my butt kicked !!!! My advice is to take your time, and see what works for y
Thanks Mumblefranz, I was slow in my post so some of my ??? were addressed. Should I wait to attack all 3 target planets on the same turn or just take them 1 at a time as I can ??? In summary for planet assault : Small fighters, max missle attack (no Def ?) best logistics, multiple fleets ...
@Mumlbefranz No offense taken here (and no tears) I can go back to challenged lev and still enjoy this game. I think in this current game I COULD win (no for sure though) The speed thing would seem to be a fleet vs fleet issue, no help to planet attack. I have good research (#2 in game)...so should I continue missle tech path or switch to logistics. Maybe do both while stalling Dreng fleets ??? Also this, I have great spy info and have ID'ed the Dreng maufact planet, tech
All the OT stuff aside, I really want to win this tough level game !!!!!! So my question to you guys (who are the high level diff winners) is this ... I can build or up grade ships, I have a good econ. The Dreng have NO def vs missle so I am rush research that tech. Should I upgrade my Frigate fleets to this attack type or maybe build figher (tiny or small?) fleets to take the Dreng planets. Yes. I flipped a yor planet. It was their last fortress, protected by a full orbit fleet of heavy fighters and frigates. They had the double ship HP thing and the fleet manager and I could not crack the shield. So I built 2 fully decked out Influence starbases next to the planet and it flipped after about 6 mos ...
I rule at Normal diff, can win most of the time at Challenged... But at Tough I have yet to win. (I have not LOST, but have been forced to RETIRE). I feel in this game I may have a chance since my econ and tech are good. Just not sure what the best strat is. I have plenty of save games to work with so I am willing to try anything to win !!!! Back to cheese: SrGalen's Cheese Wiz ... WOW !!!!!! My problem against the evil Dreng is BAD. I took what planets I could. They had weak defense (a defender and a couple of frigates). Now the planets all have the planet defense techs (double hit pts, fleet manager) and many ships. Them Dreng ships have better attack and def than mine. (shields, armour, laser, guns). I am upgrading to missle attack, but have no defense answer. I need larger hulls ?? I have good soldier techs and

I like the free form style of this forum that allows for the flow of ideas from new posters to forum vets. As a poster on many sites, I find the attitude of "search the forum and read the stickey" is sometimes too limiting. Many thanks to Brad and Cari for thier attention to ALL the players who post here.

OUCH !!!! Hey, it is all for FUN. It hardly is equal to a CRIME ??? In my game (tough level) I am in a war with the Dreng. They out number me, 253 war ships (a mix of fighers and frigates) to 87 ships. I need ALL the help I can get ... My econ is good, I lead in tech, but trail in eveything else... Any ideas to help ??? Mumblefranz ???
Oh yeah, this is another one I tried. Save game named - Fleet Battle. I played the same battle over again 5 times. I won each time in a 4 vs 4 frigate fleet contest. Two times I lost 3 of 4 ships, two more I lost 2 ships ...But one time I only lost 1 ship. This will now be standard during fleet operations. Hehehehehe

Rating-2 (I hate getting lost) Sports games- learn the game, click real fast !! Rating-2 Flight Sims- learn the game, fly around !! Rating-2 Combat flight sim- learn, fly, blast away !!! Rating-3 Note: I love a good FPS and will spend hours playing, but the rating doesn't change.
The velveet cheese "Save first turn, scout out galaxy" is the BEST yet!!!!!!!!!!! I stared a huge map game and saved. Then bought some advanced cargo-hull scouts to check things out...this is VERY effective ... I am going to like this game MUCHO, and I will now do this for any new games I start. I don't do metaverse, so my conscience is clear. There must be more great cheese some vets of high level games got ????? Feel free to share with us mortal gamers ...
So the Cheese list so far is: FAST ships - oh yeah !!! Buying then selling techs - yes, this is a GOOD one - mucho thanks to nullspace Upgrade ship repair and the planet grav assit - I like them both !! (tnx to kblore) Econ starbases near manufacture planets and lining my trade lanes - VERY good for generating a lota CA$h !!!! kudos to DethAdder My game position is improving... Any more good ones out there ??
Try adding the first starbase weapons tech (laser+1,missle+1,Gun+1). After that the next consructor you add will allow for either armour+5, PD+5 or Shield+5. So after adding 4 constructors to the basic starbase it should be +1 in all weapons and +5 in the three defense techs. Good Luck and have fun !!!
