i would like to see a patrol order either ship/fleet order where the ship/fleet patrols your area of influence or way pooint order where the ship/fleet patrols a certain radius around the way point say the distance of influence that a starbase has Yes, being able to patrol my patrols would be really nice. and then is the troop ships if you could que other ships on that planet it would give you

1- Allow spies to sabotage starbases (weapon/defense or bonuses). 2- Allow spies to sabotage starports (increasing build time or reducing ships HP for those built on that planet). 3- Allow spies to "convert" starbases (make them yours after a while if not countered). You know, a spy taking control of a starbase after 1-2-3 years... It would also be cool if we could use our spies to implicate other races while conducting their activities

I would like to see minor races be unable to produce ships with construction modules (like they never produce colony ships). They just waste resources churning out masses of starbases and would be better off building ships instead. Plus they wouldn't then steal all the resources like they do now. Sure they couldn't extend their range a lot but that kind of fits the theme of minor races being minor localised powers. I'm not sure I agree about the m

Quite often when I try to play a game with the latest patch, the unexplored fog won't clear in the 3 sectors all around the edges of my map. Although I can see discovered stars, planets etc. as well as other races' borders, the fog itself remains. This happens even if my starting position is within those three sectors around the edges. It's not a persistant problem but it is fairly frequent.

I'd really, really like to see queueing in this game. With Civilization, I can click on an advanced tech and the game will automatically research all the techs I need in between. With GalCiv I could, for instance, click on the last of the Laser techs and not have have to go back to the tech screen until those were all done. I'd just get a notification that one step was completed and the game would continue researching my line, and I wouldn't have to go in just to click the Done button. <br/

Are you running the latest version? I believe there was an issue in the past where not enough stars were generated in some cases, so some races end up 'orphaned' in the corner. It was addressed in 1.5X though IIRC. No, that was in the unpatched version. But there was no mention of this fix in the change log so I didn't realize it had been addressed.

The serials you receive when you request them to be emailed to you are generated based on common factors with the one you initially bought/registered. So they will be different each time you request a list. It's only common sense that the serial code that came on the disk should be the ones that I would enter in the update line. If I needed another, seperate serial just for Dark Avatar, I should have been informed of that fact. No where have I come

I've had a couple of games now where I would start out in one corner of the map, with no planet system in sight. Along with me would be one or more other races. One time I had at least 6 races all starting out on the very same square, along with all thier ships.

I have the GalCiv2 Gold edition installed on my system. I just installed the 1.5X patch and had trouble activating it. It kept saying there was a problem with the serial number even though I had entered the code that came with the discs, and double checked it several times. Lo and behold, after getting my serial info from Stardock, it turns out that my Dark Avatar XP has a different serial number that I didn't even know about. This is really a dumb way of going about things and should be fixed.

Is there anyway you can omit or minimize the size of all those placement markers??? THANKS! Just press the H button when you're designing and all the hardpoints will disappear. Press H again to bring them back.

You'll need to use a new number prefix instead of adding to the Arceans one. You can't do that, all the numbers from 0-9 are already in use. One thing you can do is just delete most of the core ships that are listed in GC2Ships. That way only your own designs will appear in the game. You need to leave a few of them in there though, like all your starting ships, as well as the Starbase and Pirate ships. Then when the game starts, just upgrade to your own

I think one priority with improving mining is to give an option of automation, such as whether you want it to build as many basics as it can, or to improve bases as much as it can. One improvement I'd like to see is having an "assign to closest planet" option. Right now I sometimes have to fiddle with them in order to find which one is going to benefit the most from them. If they're really distant it doesn't really matter, but sometimes I'll have two pl

Cuddlelump has the right idea here. Pirates are an opportunity, not a problem. When it first happened to me, I was thouroughly annoyed and thought of restarting the game without meag-events. But then I saw it an opportunity to experiment with some ship designs, seeing as how I am still working on them. What better way to test them out than against an overpowered opponent who's very close by?

Is there anything that I can do in order to wipe out these Pirate ships??? There are about 15 of them throughout my space and I cannot yet kill them. (These don't count the ones that are in the rest of the galaxy not under my control...) Please help if you can. Having just made it through that event, I can sympathize with your situation. When they first appeared, I didn't have a chance. Every single ship and Starbase got wiped out, along with every

That's exactly what I'm talking about, Marvin. I'm rather new to the game, so how would I look into doing this myself? And if I were to do so, would it affect any score I'd get online? It shouldn't be that difficult, I believe they're just basic graphic files that can be loaded into almost any graphic prgram. Just make some adjustments to the colour balance while there, then resave them.

Indeed. Great for building up those smaller planets so you don't have to add factories then upgrade them later to something useful. Asteroid fields are very easy to rip off as well. Just plant an Influence base right next to the ones along your border and they'll flip to you in no time. I've found they're also very useful for getting those special planet types up and running. Since you can redirect them anywhere, just send a few of the mor

I would observe that any machine you dont have or cant get administrative rights to, is a machine you wouldnt be or shouldnt be intalling games on in the first place. I find your complaint moot. You're missing my point. I'm not refering to having the game installed, just Stardock Central. That's what's needed now in order to get the patches for the game. Since most people can't install that program on an out-of-home computer, only those people

- I like to play in gigantic with 9 random races, is there a setting to say use my custom races as part of the random pool? I've been just clicking on the ? adding my custom to replace one of the regulars and then leaving the rest as their random choices. I've been using a custom race that some made and posted here, the Delean Republic, using the old Alterian graphs. And there's been no problem with it coming up in random games.

... i remember asking about patches before and was told (as far as kryo knew) that updates would be stand alones... I was mistaken, and I apologize. I really don't see what the big deal is here. If the Stardock software will archive the patch in order to transfer it to another computer, why can't you just post that file here on the site? You're really screwing alot of people with this method, all tho

Bottom line, the game is awesome and if you can put up with the occasional frustrating moment or two, the end result will be worth it. Agreed, but what's bothering me is this seeming two faced attitude by Stardock regarding their products. One the one hand, they made a big issue of the fact that the game will not be using any on-disc anti-piracy systems. They carried on as if they were trying to be mega user-friendly for all their customers. Yet they'v

Do the Fusion plants boost your free production? I'm presuming so, though I don't know whether they actually do. The description says X percentage boost to production, so that would imply resources coming from asteroid fields as well.

I guess you could produce a specialized breeder planet, but that sure takes a lot of micro. Actually it's alot less micro. Just set the shipyard to build only Troop transports, set up a rally point for them, and you can just let it do it's thing. As long as you keep the population high, you can pump out a steady stream of them, without it affecting the local economy at all.

Welcome to do the wonderful world on on-line distribution. Ever buy a game from Valve/Steam? -HM But I got my copy of Dark Avatar from my local retail outlet in the Gold Edition version. Those of us who did so deserve the same amount of support as those who got their versions online. If Stardock doesn't want to acknowledge that some people aren't directly connected to the internet, then they shouldn't release their products through general reta
