Try changing your race colours. I had a problem with the Terran colours when I first started playing the game, with it's dark blue, but it was much better when I switched to a light brown colour. Incidentally, Dark Avatar has a perforated cirlce around the edges so it's much easier to see now.

Supposedly this has already been done, Stardock just didn't have time to post it. At least according to Kryo. So now that everyone's back to work, how about releasing the fix so I can actually play my game again? I've had to forego my fix all weekend, it's about time now to get on with it.
Well I sure wish they'd hurry up and release the fix they supposedly already have for it. I'd really like to get on with it and actually play the game.
- I have many games that I'm having a hard time enjoying due to bugs, balance issues, or performance issues. I find myself getting more particular about these things myself. I just don't have as much patience when it comes to bugs as I used to. I get down right irritated sometimes when I encounter something I know isn't supposed to be there. And unfortunately, that seems to happen with pretty much every game I pick up these days.
You only need the one serial number with the Gold Edition. It will work for both GC2 and Dark Avatar. It didn't when I first installed the game. I had to enter in the Dark Avatar code, my on-disk serial number wasn't being recognized when I had to activate the patch.
Well like I said, the fog of war issue has been fixed, it just hasn't been released yet due to time constraints. So we'll probably see something as soon as Stardock gets back to work. At least I'm hoping we do. I can't play the game while that thing keeps popping up. I've never had that CTD issue you're describimg myself, though I have had others. Nothing really repeatable though, just isolated crashes for no understandable reason. Frankly, considering that this has been in public beta
By the sounds of it, I'd be surprised if we didn't have something Monday that dealt with the fog of war issue. Apparently it has already been fixed, they just didn't have time to post it on Stardock before the weekend. As for CTD, that's the first I've heard of it. I'm hoping they can deal with these issues seperately if it turns out to be a more complex problem. Far more people are being affected by the fog of war thing, they shouldn't have to wait until both are fixed.
I personally find the ship builder in GC2 just as much fun as the game itself. The extra jewellery in Dark Avatar was as much of a selling point to me as the changes to the overall gameplay! I can spend hours creating hugely complex ship hulls of intricate designs both of original design and inspired by popular science fiction shows/films. Be sure to try out Kryo's mod, if you already haven't. Between that and what comes with the game, the possibilit
I'm sorry, i know this is not the place to discuss this so i stop immediatly... but belanos if you want to expand the discussion i will follow you in another topic. It's not just about the theory of it all, but also the gameplay. Obviously there's a problem with the tech trading in the game. We've gone from ridiculously easy to just as absurdly tough. If we had this as a limitation, I think it would go a long way to solving some of the problems in
Picked up GC2-Gold the other day and it only seems to have a single registration key. Does this mean that I have to uninstall my existing GC2 (with a different key) before installing? Yes, you can't install Dark Avatar seperately overtop your old game with the Gold edition, they both get installed at the same time. So your previous copy will have to go. Incidentally, the single code is a bit deceptive. Although it's not listed, Dark Avatar has i
I tried to find a way to do this myself but it seemed the only way I could do it was to upgrade the ship design to something with better weapons, but since you can’t upgrade a core ship design I was left building a new ship and having to pay a ton of money to change it into a new ship to match his firepower. Who say you can't upgrade a core ship design? You'll just have to give a different name, something like Mk1, Mk2 etc. You don't have to u
In civ many techs (particularly in the beginning) need the knowledge of previous techs to work (how can you build cannons if you don't know how to deal with iron?), in GC the situation is completely different and i think you're able to understand for example plasma weapons even if you don't know laser I. It's not just about knowing the techs, but also about having the proper infrastructure. If you've never built a laser before, you're certainly not
Uly - I'll look at doing that for you. Don't bother, I've already done it. Though I'm not sure how to go about uploading it to the library. I'll go have a look. Actually, how about I email it to you and you can make an executable for it to install it, like you did with the mini-map version? Is there a private message thing on this board so can give me your email discretely?
Get yourself a decent graphics card, those onboard Intel jobs are just pieces of crap. There's not much else you can do really. As for installing one, it's quite simple. Just locate the slot it goes in, which is directly above your PCI slots, and plug it in. Depending on the card, you might also have to plug in a power cable. Then just install your drivers and other software. If you buy one, just be sure you're getting the right type for your motherboard. It will either take an AGP or
1 I would like anomalies to randomly generate throughout the game so my survey ship doesn't end up becoming a glorified scout ship later on. Have less of them at the intial start of the game then have them appear here and there over time. And I like the idea of having some quests attached to some of them. 2 I would like minor races to have personalities that are more unique and in keeping with their role in the game. For instance, they should have no interest in trading any of the colon
Someone mentioned earlier that you shouldn't be allowed to trade/conquer/steal techs that you don't have the previous techs for. I totally agree with that. This is the way it's done in Civilization and it works well. I think this alone would go a long way to fixing the tech trading issue. You'd only have so many techs you could trade for at any one time, so you couldn't jump ahead of your current knowledge base.
Okay, I am still very new. How do I "crank up the research"? I know I can buy more labs, but my pitiful 2 planets are full. I found an economy slider, does that work in addition to the number of labs I have? Is there a cost to raising the research bar and lowering manufacture if I am not building any ships or buildings? While I am at it, I saw a tax rate, I have not touched it should I raise or lower it, my citizens are already kinda unhappy (I am guessing fro
Yes, they've become rather wierd when it comes to colonization techs. Even in trading, it would stand to reason that a straight swap of one for another would be fair and to their advantage, but I can offer them my Barren world tech with 3 other minor ones included and some cash and they won't go for it. I even tried trading Barren Worlds for Galactic Warfare once to see what would happen, but no deal.
Can starbases be repaired? As far as i can tell they can't, but i've been wrong before. With GalCiv2, there was an example mod that had some repair techs you could add onto the regular tech tree. It also included a Repair Bay module for starbases that helped with that function. I'm not sure it directly affected the base itself though. I'm guessing it did.
The only thing you need to worry about with your video card is lag (how smoothly the game will run due to video card/cpu speed) Not so. I know someone who can't run the game because his video card is one of those on-board jobs, ands isn't compatible. I'm guessing it has to do with Hardware T&L.
The glare isn't very visible as it blends with the checkered 'transparent' background. If you put a layer below it and fill it with black it should be a lot easier to see; just don't forget to delete the black layer before you save it. Thanks for the tip.
...and now are sitting on top of colonies blowing anything up that is created. That's the key in dealing with the Pirates, don't create anything. Just crank up your research until your weaponry becomes advanced enough to tak them on. I wish I had thought of that when it happened to me. Oh well, I got a pretty nifty ship design out of it.
As noted above, Main_Consule_Back.png is the one you want. Yes, I missed that one all right. Still, I don't see any indication of glare on their. I guess maybe I'll have to take a closer look in Photoshop. Thanks.
Having just been made aware of the Governor in the colony details screen, I can definitely see room for improvement. First of all, it would be nice to have an "All Planets" button so I'd only have to set my preference once. I've decided that I don't want planets auto terraforming, and it would be great if I didn't have to go into every single planet screen in order to do this. Just set it once, hit the "All Planets" button and I wouldn't need to bother with it anymore. I'd also like to
Well I opened the main window dxpack, but all I saw were little bits and pieces of graphics that I resumed were used as tiles. I didn't see anything that resembled a full blown graphic, except for the buttons. Am I looking in the wrong place? If not, what's the name of the graphic I'm looking for, maybe I missed it?
