What is this bug you guys are talking about? I have ver 1.5 of gold edition, playing either DL or DA, I don't run into fog of war or saving issues, and I always play the biggest map available, Gigantic I think it's called... So whats this problem? It's only a problem if you've installed the 1.5X.068 patch. When playing on Gigantic, one of the sides of the map won't get it's unexplored terrain covering cleared after you've sent a ship into

Along those lines it would be cool if when conquering a planet, the previous population was not completely exterminated or at least give an option: good - integrate the old population with the new government 40%of original population preserved -40% morale which improves over time, Neutral-offer ships to take refugees to a new home -200 bc, evil - enslave the old population +10% production bonus -10% morale. That could make alignments a bit more fun and meaningful...it
If you go to the Library forum, you'll find a couple of races with animations included. One is called Delean Republic which is just using the old Alteran animations from Dreadlords. The other is called Alien Girl. That one is strictly animations/pic etc. You'd need to attach them to your own custom race.
I think that this hurry is a bit exaggerated. I'm playing at DA, size medium, and it's playable. It's false that the game is not playable.. is playable if you use a not so big map. Well maybe some of us aren't content to play smaller maps. I'm certainly not. I even find Gigantic too small, at least with 9 races. I'd like to see a couple more sectors all around with that many races.
Oh, are you asking what exactly is the formula that determines the odds in a battle? No, I'd like to know how many troops I can expect a planet to have if I invade it. That would help me determine how many of my troops I'd have to bring along. I've been caught by surprise a few times now, there being many more soldiers than I expected. It would be nice to know how large my ground forces should be when I come "visiting". I'm just sort of guessing now, a
It doesn't look promising for today, time is running out. Unless someone decides to put in some overtime. Unpaid no doubt. What's the usual work hours over at Stardock anyway Kryo?
You can change those in the XML file that gets generated in your My Games folder.
Too bad, it would be nice if they would open that up so we could have truly unique custom races. Or at least give us some extra ones we could use instead.
Someone posted some animations on the Library, called Alien Girl, that are actually pretty good. You might want to check it out. Also, someone posted a custom race called the Delean Republic that uses the old Alterian animations.
I nearly went blind trying to find my trade routes in blue on the map. Yeah, the Terran colour really isn't very good for seeing it on the map. It just kind of blends in with the black.
Your population * 100% = the # of soldiers you have. That doesn't make sense. Is that multiplying, dividing, what? If multiplying, you'd have to empty an entire planet or two in order to have enough troops for the assault, and if dividing, there's be no troops at all.
One should note though that a lot of last-gen OEM machines with integrated video don't even have AGP slots, just PCI. So he'll really need to have a look at it before deciding on any course of action at all. You'll note that I mentioned that in case he wanted to forego the complete system overhaul and stick with his current motherboard. As I said, the processor is fine, it's just the rest that needs upgrading. If he's just interested in getting
the farming is excellent (as are the 300% bonus tiles) for one really important thing: fighting invasions. You take a hit in morale, but certain planets (like 12 billion pop and higher) are VERY hard to take if you have researched all techs which contribute to soldering. So does that work exactly? I know the number of soldiers in a battle is dependant on your overall population, but what's the formula for determining how many there are? It would be usef
without changing the way the economy works, you could put an economic capital on a proposed +100% econ bonus tile and double the effectiveness of the capital. that's HUGE. i think a +25 or +50 % tile would be more balanced; if 100% econ tiles were added, i'd say they should be about as rare as precursor mines/libraries. It doesn't have to work any differently than the other bonus tiles. The market buildings work by percentages too. I know the earliest o
I know I've seen them actually using a manu bonus tile for a factory and research bonus tile for research centers, which tells me that they have been improved on. That could be just sheer dumb luck though. I've seen no indications that the AI even acknowledges the bonus tiles.
How hard can it be to force the AI to use bonus tiles in the way they are intended??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ask myself that question all the time now, since I can spy on their planets right from the beginning. Surely the devs can put in some code that forces the AI to use bonus tiles properly. I've seen Factories built on research tiles, while a lab is located on just a regular one. Really dumb.
Even though I have increased my diplomatic skills, to where I have an incredible advantage over the race that I'm trying to trade with, I find that almost every offer, no matter how heavily biased it is in their favour, is rejected. That doesn't happen to just the Yor now. I play a custom race with no diplomatic bonuses except what I gain from anomalies, and I was having a tough time making any trades as well. If I did manage to get them interested,
Is it more to do with the fact that playing as the TA they had an advantage when it came to trading techs that the poor old Yor can't ever come close to....? That would certainly be the case, the Terrans get huge diplomatic bonuses. However you might just be noticing the new tech trading system. It's much, much harder now with the 1.5X patch. A little too hard IMO. It seems to have gone from one extreme to the other.
How can I get my logistics high enough to go toe-to-toe with pirates? I researched the whole tech tree and still couldn't stack that many ships! Get yourself a good enough ship and you don't need to. Keep in mind that the pirate ships are limited, sooner or later they'll run out. You can always build more of yours, so all you need to do is keep wittling them down. Even if it takes three of your ships to take out two of theirs, you'll eventually clear th
Hi! @ Belanos Obviously you know what makes money. You want free money in GC universe? If not, I really don't know what's your point. BR, Iztok All I really want to see is a bonus tile for Economy. Even the odd +100% would be nice. That's not really asking for alot now is it?
You know you are on the right track when you can get your economy positive with a tax rate of around 39%, morale of 75%-80%, and 90%-100% spending. This can be done just as the colonization phase ends. That seems rather excessive to me. I have no problems running tax at about 50% and I try to keep my morale at or just above 45%. Below that figure and the numbers actually turn red, so it's a convenient target for me.
Hi! - A complete tech branch of econ-enhancing techs and buildings (Trade center, Market center, Bank, Stock market....), The same is true for Manufacturing, Research, Farming and Morale. The only area that gets less upgrades is Influence, which would definitely be a balance thing. And they all get bonus tiles, economy doesn't. - a government branch, that gives 10%, 20% and 30% econ bonus, True, if
i see. well, it looks like your patch is out, so if you can arrange to download it, hopefully it'll manage to fix all your problems. What do you mean, I don't see anything on Stardock Central yet. There's still only the .068 release, which is what caused the problem in the first place.
What are the price ranges for the cards you've mentioned? The 7950GT cost me about $350-400 Canadian, tax included. You could probably count on about 25% less in a large market American city. The 8800 is going for about $5-600 around here, and the Nvidia 7600 and ATI X800 about $200-$250. I wouldn't recommend anything lower than those two, especially if you're into Civ 4. ATI's top of the line right now is the X1950 I believe, which is about the sam
I'd be interested in knowing this as well. It would be nice to be able to give my two custom races unique super abilities. I haven't come across anything yet though. I'm guessing it's all hard coded.
