OK, thanks for the info, I'll be sure to do that. It just so happens I have a save game where it happens with the Korx.
You should put up a bug report, those bugs are not as common as the dreaded Out of Memory bug and as far as I know can be fixed, (maybe)
Well I thought I just did. This thread is called "Bug Reports" after all. It just happened to me again tonight after a complete reinstall for the game and a few hours of playing time. I ran into the Korx but they didn't register in any of the screens he should have. Not Foreign Affairs,
Well this is just great, I can't even switch chapters to go back to Dark Avatar. Not only did I waste my money but a great deal of time as well.
Well this bug is happening quite a bit, it's making the game unplayable. And it's happening with 2.02 from the Ultimate Edition, as I reinstalled the game. Once again the only race I had contact with was the Drath, so there might be something about them. This really sucks, I spent $50 for nothing even though I really couldn't afford to do so. I'm unemployed at the moment and the money I spent represents a signifigant sacrifice on m
I would like to invite you to join one of the Metaverse Empires, where we offer a wealth of information on all aspects of strategy.
No thanks, right now I don't even want to play the game. I just tried a new one, building nothing but Factories and Colony Ships and I still couldn't keep up to the Thalans. That's not my idea of strategy, that's just pursuing a narrow minded path and hoping you get lucky with the p
I have a serious bug occuring with races not appearing in my Foreign Affairs screen. In the game I was just playing I was in contact with the Arceans, the Drath and I had just met the Yor. But only the Drath were appearing in my Foreign Affairs screen, not the other two. I had encountered this in a previous game but didn't think anything of it. But if this is going to keep recurring, it's going to make this game pretty much unplayable.
In your first game, the Krynn were probably rush-buying the colony ships during the first few turns. This is a common AI tactic.
Well so was I, but I was making an attempt to develop a balanced planetary economy. It obviously was building nothing but Factories since that's the only way I can keep up. That to me isn't good AI design frankly, that's just using a brute force tactic, not a smart one. OK, that was better. As an experiment I maxed my military production and built nothing but Factories and Colony ships and I'm now the colony leader. And thanks to the Diplomatic Translator I'm also the tech leader. But man, that is such a narrow focus for a strategy. It reminds me of my Civ 3 days.
I just started a brand new game, after falling way behind in colonies on my last. The main culprit being the Krynn. I've built nothing but Factories in my capital, built nothing but Colony ships there with the exception of a single Scout ship. Any gold I get from anomalies gets used for rushing Colony ships. My other first colony builds only Constructors which so far it's only been able to build one of. Yet when I got Universal Translator and checked the stats, the Krynn once again had twice
Which one has the bigger tech tree?
GC2 definitely has the bigger tech tree, however many of the techs you can research are just variations on a theme. For instance there's 5 or so levels for every weapon and engine type , which don't do anything but reduce the size of the component you put on your ship.
Also, I see that Sins of a solar empire is out. Is that game similar to this one, better, worse?
Sins is an Real Time Strategy, not a tu
Belanos!! Long time no see..
Yeah I haven't been playing the game much so I don't come around here very often anymore. It's always hard for me to play a game when I know there's a better version available, or soon to be. I just wish they'd change their policy of online only for getting TA though as getting anything online is a bit problematic for me. I'd much rather go through my local EB Games. I don't quite understand their rationale frankly. They already have the Gold
Every company needs new blood since not all their current customers will buy the expansions.
I probably won't be as long as it's an online only release. Put it in the stores and I most definitely would.
I just like combining hulls using Kryo's mod, then saving them as a template for later. I don't usually bother with any of the other jewelry, just the odd part here and there. You can get some interesting hull designs by combining three or four different ones using Kryo's mod.
You also get a cultural boundary around it, which can be important. Place a starbase near an opponent's asteroid belt and you can have them flip to you.
The minor races are also the traders of the galaxy. Pretty much all the major races have dealings with them so they can acquire techs pretty quickly that way. I doubt they really research all that much on their own.
BTW Kryo, will there be a version of your mod for the new XP? I'm certainly hoping so.
Are you sure you installed it in the right mod folder? I just ran into an issue where the hulls were not appearing and it turned out I had installed it in the GalCiv2 mod folder even though I was playing Dark Avatar. There's no Mod folder by default in DA so you need to create one and install it there.
If I can run at 1920x1200 and 4x AA, I don't think my video card is overly weak
Phfft! I'm using 8x AA. ;)
It's not just the movies -- I just upgraded to a 24" widescreen and GC2 looks like hell at the native 1920x1200 res. Everything just looks a little bit off, not as sharp as it should be.
You should maybe try a different video driver. I'm using that resolution too, and the game looks just fine. Quite good in fact. Or maybe your video card is weak and just can't handle that high of a resolution very well?
In my current game of TA Beta 2, I actually found a Jessuin's colony in a star system neighboring its home planet. First time I've ever seen that. It was way too early for them to have already developed planetary invasion so they didn't get it that way.
There is an event where you can trade techs that they've stolen from some other race in exchange for a planet. I guess someone took them up on their offer.
I hope I explained it clearly. Hope also to see it fixed.
I know exactly what you mean and it's something that has irritated me for a long time too. It would be really nice if the game would pause whenever we went into a screen, and only resume when we go back to the map screen. It's annoying as hell having the game suddenly flip to some other event while I'm still busy trying to set things up in the screen I'm in.
I realize that you can turn this off per planet in DA (though I don't remember how).
Click on the Details button in the planet screen then look for the Governor button. You'll then see options for upgrading buildings as well as terrain. I usually turn terrain upgrading off since I'd rather wait until any buildings have been completed before the game terraforms half a dozen tiles in a row.
So, I play gold edition, no downloaded updates (gonna get used to the game first),
That's not really a good idea. The updates contain alot of bug fixes as well as additional features, so you'll be playing a somewhat buggy game by not getting them. And some of the new features the updates contain are rather nice to have.
BTW Kryo, will there be a Twilight of the Arnor version of your mod? I sure hope so.
