Now, I know I'm just being petty and I am all for stealth in space for added gameplay, but heat, from the engines and everything else, makes ships hot and easy to see with RADAR. Sonar works underwater with sound waves, it could never work in space. Way to go physics student! Yes, im not dumb. I thought about the whole heat thing already. I was thinking about the Stealth Bomber when i wrote the post. the way that works is it cools the exaust as to not

actually... as a physics student, it seems to me that if stealth were to work anywere it would work best in space. yes it would be difficult. but like eetmor said the best kind of detector in space would be an active sonare type device, coupled with a pasive e/m detector. basically the way underwater sonar works with sound, but instead with light... it would be VERY hard to hide bigger ships or even fleets of smaller ships if they were close together, but if spread out and they were frigate s
When originally writing this post i thought about the logistics of how a multi-moon/planet-moon system would need to work. As I thought about it, I concluded that there was nothing really prohibitively difficult to work out. Yes they would have to work out some logistics, but it really comes down to weather or not the devs want to put the work into moons and gas giants. BUT, by the sounds of things just said... maybe they are... at the very least they have something very yummy planned <img sr
i like the idea of making the pirates smarter. i imagine that its somthing the devs are already working on. giving them more gorilla tactics is a good step. i read some were that there was eventually gonna be a "pirate base." i dont know how that is going to be implemented but as the pirates get more structure i imagine the pirate AI will get more sophisticated. i look forwerd to what the devs have planed with great anticipation.
ok point taken... i realize its not useless... but it sure does take up alot of space. it could easily be moved to allow for a little p-in-p monitor (kinda like a reverse minimap)
... well at the very least i think it would be nice to have a little (picture in picture) monitor say in the bottom left of the screen that had a zoomed in view of any fighting that may be occurring with in my empire. I stole this idea from Star Trek: Armada... but it really would enhance game play! and it shouldnt be to hard to implement, specially since the only thing there right is kinda useless or could be easily moved or resized.
It would be great if this game had Dual Monitor Support. I find i play most of the game zoomed out cause i like to see the big picture, but then i miss alot of whats happening on a small scale. A game like this that has such contrast in combining 4E and RTS, imo, should support two monitors. It is would add SOOO much to this game to experiance both RTS and 4E at the same time. I know there are only a limited amount of us out there that would take advantage of this. But im willing to bet tha
that is actually a decent idea for moons... id prefer to colonize both independently but if thats not possible, haveing lunar colonization attached to infrastructure upgrades would be acceptable to me. however im still not sure how that would work for gas giants... but if they are not going to be implemented, this idea for moons is a good alternative.
Oh YAY!!! im drulling just thinking about what you guys have in store...
who said anything about it orbiting... so far everything else doesnt orbit. if thats the standard, then why should the moons be the exception? anyway i just posted in the Gas Giants and Moons thread about the same convo i see happening in here... just an fyi
i own both SW: Empire at War and Gal Civ 2, both these games are very different in mechanics and lay out to this game so im having a hard time making the connection that your trying to get at... but thats not to say you dont have a valid point, i just dont understand it The problems with dividing a sector with several colonizable planets is you can't do it in an RTS. GalCiv 2 is a turn bsaed game that can split up a solar system between several races but only
I would like to propose the idea of Gas Giants and Moons . Gas giants themselves are obviously not habitable, but they are micro "solar systems" in their own right. There are more then 59 moons orbiting our 4 outer planets; 6 of which are larger or about equal to our moon. Three are larger then mercury and 14 are large enough to have significant gravity. There are only 4 rocky planets in our solar system and since both Venus and Mercury are much to close to the sun for our use, humani
i have to say in general i like the idea of supplys. I like that it would make the current tactic of huge fleets just stomping through everything more difficult. I also like that the anti-matter supply is already modded... an idea i think should probably stay as a mod. however that still doesnt solve what to do about the rather linear "huge fleet stoping from world to world" stratagy... though i have a feeling once the AI is improved the computer will have its own "huge fleet" to stop me... wi
as mentioned already in the thread... movement is deffinitly needed. i love the graphics so far! but every time im in a battle i keep wanting to call out "evasive maneuver Riker Alpha Sigma!" and nothing happens... makes me sad on the inside. though i imagen this feature is probably on its way.
i have played for about 2 hours or so now gone through the demos and in the demos everything is gravy... but when i try to actually play a game. my ships wont fire at the pirates. Whats up? am i doing somthing wrong? i sent out scouts, found some asteroid feilds and planets. then sent in my capital ship with some newly researched frigates and nothing will fire at the pirates... and the pirates just sit there and look at me not firing back... am i not a war with the pirates...? once i upgrade
ok so this may be a stupid question... but im gonna ask anyway cause it bugs the crap out of me. Why is it that some times i dont even have the option to ask for an economic or research treaty. some times i can ask but not offer, and other times i can offer but not ask... and other time i can do neither. this is really frustrating to me. it seems that needing the alliance tech has nothing to do with it. is there another tech im missing or is there somthing deeper in the relations mechenism
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! for taking care of the Starbase hit point issue... but i have to ask, will you be fixing the way all weapons on a starbase fire as one while ships get to fire thier guns separately? It would make sence to me to allow each weapon module to fire as a individual gun. this would also help make the weeker weapon modules more valuable. Thank you so much for lissening to our suggestions. Your costumer support really is why you continue to get my money. Thank you.
wich part are you saying no to? are the starbase and ship files separate? if so that sucks, but what about creating a starbase module that gave research points the way a mining base will? these two entries should be in the same file right? so i should be able to copy a tage from the research resourse and insert it into a "lab module" for a starbase... if this would not work could you please be specific as to why? i want to learn... plus if there is any way of manipulating the system id like to
ive said this before... as so many of us have. but im going to say it yet again, because it was not added in 1.6... STARBASES need more hit points! im grateful for letting us repair them. that was definitely needed. but its just dumb to have a fully upgraded Starbase be soo dang defenseless. this problem causes an entire genre of galactic strategies to become worthless as you head into mid-late game. in the beginning starbases are great. the have a comparable amount
what about using whatever tag is used for the research mining starbase? would this tag be able to be used on a ship module... and if not would i be able to use the tag for the mining base to create a lab module for a normal starbase, thus creating the research starbase??
I agree... i new thread would diffinitly be nice. i followed this thread for the first 200 or so posts... then, well it just got agonizing to read the same things over and over. also it would be nice if frogboy could possibly post the priority list that Stardock is using to determin what gets done when. it would be nice for us to be able to understand why cirtain issues are relitivly ignored infavor of more important things... plus it would also be good for star dock to get costomer fe
is it not possible to add the tag that the universities have to a ship module? will the code not accept that tag?
I have had a descent amount of experience with html and coding in the past, and i have stated playing around with the xml files. I got myself an xml editor and started lookin through stuff. i have an idea for a simple mod and would like to stretch my wings by creating it. I want to add a survey module which would contribute research points to your Civs research total. This in essence would create the "Science Vessel" category. What would i need to do in order to do this? A
Yeah, i went back and looked at the templet tab and they are all dominion ships... even though in the tech tree im researching borg techs. idk. i guess i freeked out prematurly. HOWEVER, my lagitimate complaint is that the starting hull for the dominion is a "large" hull, with 50 ish hit points...(dont remember the exact #). not that im complaining to much. the game im in the middle of has the Borg breathing down my back with 80+ worlds and i only have 43. and they dont like me. (i put up
Hey, the dominion tech tree is set as the borg tech tree in the latest release. i went to play them and found that i can only research borg ships... wich is anoying. i tryed messing with the xml and it seems to be an easy fix. but then when i restarted the game (and my computer) the game hasnt changed. i started a new game and everything. tryed every thing i know how to try to fix it. i made sure i had everything spelled right and the ids all matched were they were supposed to. idk. i wou
