1. According to Tom Hardware's May 2008 videocard hierarchy, your 8600M GT is slightly more powerful than my plain vanilla 6800, which allows me to run the game fine, at the highest visual quality (but with no AA & no bloom effects).
If a place like GameFAQ's, for example, was allowed to edit, the myriad arguments about nothing would probably devolve even further into a grand mess of 'Liar! I never said that!' But, in a place like this where the moderators seem to be fairly active and the community isn't terribly aggressive, I don't think it'd be a major issue.
There's a solution to that, used by certain forums : 1. When you insert a quote in a reply, you cannot alt
I'm very much in favour of post editing AND deleting (like on many forums). I sometimes post when following an impulse, and it does happen that I regret my words (or composing the whole useless post in the first place). It would « clean-up » the forum if we were able to edit & delete, at will. The quote function would still guarantee that one's comments might be catched & conserved for reference.

I'm extremely happy with SINS as a SP game, and I believe they (IC & SD) should capitalize on their huge SP customer base. The (very few) experiences I've had on ICO have been very frustrating & time-consuming. As it has been said on other threads by many advocates of « singleplayer power », they should boost the SP/4X empire-building dimension of the game (what some fast & furious MP fanatics call « SimCity in Space) : a hybrid of real-time GalCiv2 and relatively slow RTS.<br/

Haeso :
This is NOT a 4x, it will NEVER be a 4x, it never WAS a 4x [...] it's just a slow rts.
As a turn-based 4X-strategy wh*r* who suxxx at fast RTS ... I totaleeee agree. (I'm granting you a +1 karma for your post. ;p )
I'm much more an exxxtreme fanatic of fantasy strategy games than science-fiction strategy games. I've played almost all of them : Master of Magic, all the Heroes of Might & Magic, all the Age of Wonders, all the Disciples, all the Warlords. I'm also a huge fan of the Stardock approach. I can't wait to pre-order the beta of that enigmatic sword-and-sorcery game. In what concerns the Galactic Civilization series, I s*ck. I just

I recently downloaded TA on my home's high-speed cable-connection, from SDC, at a steady speed of 800 to 840 kb/sec. It beats my Gamespot subscriber downloads by about 100 kb/sec.
Thanxxx, kryo : very informative wiki reference.
[...] on top of that their data-gathering practices are a major turn-off to a lot of users.
What practices ? There's an article on Wild Tangent in the recent June issue of PC Gamer. I was wondering if there was a catch to their approach.
I uninstalled Steam eleven months ago : its main-program update-process crashed my (otherwise flawless) PC in a very nasty fashion. And they (Valve/Steam) then had no tech support whatsoever : none! I have never experienced the least problem with StarDockCentral. I do not know what "Impulse" is, even though I see it mentioned on this forum. Will SDC disappear when that mysterious Impulse gets launched?
Community standard wont raise unless people are willing to play newbies.
For sure ... The creator of the thread (the OP) has bragged, a few weeks ago, on other threads, that he liked to test his Disciple and Illuminator spam-rushes on newbies. Wow ! That inspires me, as a MP n00b, to become a guinea pig on ICO. :NOTSURE:
I've been accused of being a « troll », a few weeks ago, because I was slightly off-topic. Well ... this thread has become major Troll country. ;p Annatar11 : I thought you, of all people, were better than all of us. ;)
They said that they fixed the mini dumps in 1.01
Where did « they » say that ?! I remember reading posts by Ironclad representatives where they stated that some mini-dump causes would not be fixed before the upcoming 1.10 (beyond 1.04). Those representatives also reminded us that « mini-dumps » are not causal problems : they are the technical log of problems -- secondary effects, not primary causes. You will always get mini-dumps : they
METTRA (post #28) : « For those interested : https://forums.stardock.com/307025/page/6 » Thanks for the reference, Mettra ! Stardock's CEO full post, there, is this : « [He quotes another guy :] Look at your playerbase now, Frogboy, maybe 200 players online on a good day. That isn't going to go -up- when you make them pay even more to stay online, or divide them is it? [He then replies :] People really need to stop claiming that there's only 2
« Where are you guys getting these numbers of people online from? As far as I'm aware, [Stardock CEO] Draginol said that was only the number of people logged into the forums. » Maybe ... but I seem to remember that a IC or SD representative, a month ago, stated, rather, that the number indicated in the Ico lobby ALSO included those players who were actively engaged in an ongoing mutliplayer game. If that is correct, « 200 » (for example) would mean 200 gamers on that spe
Yes ... some of my friends have reported that too ... but it concerned newbie players as well as « skilled » gamers who wanted to protect their prrrrrrrecious win/loss record. Personally, I never play on ICO : the situation you describe is one of the many reasons I don't. Too much macho pride & vanity seems to be invested by some of the power-players.

To follow-up on my post #30, more in the context of the thread's main topic : It would be sad if the Twilight of the Arnor expansion was the end of the line, in the 2008/2009 time-frame, for the GalCiv series, taking into account that there is NOTHING serious on the horizon for the whole Space-empire 4X/TBS genre. Then ... it would be important that some people on the Stardock GalCiv development team get paid to continue to work (even if it was only part-time) on po

Excerpt from post #78, by Mettra :
You might as well complain about the use of anti-matter for energy [by the designers of Sins.] Couldn't they have thought of something else ? Yes, they could have. Would it be anything even remotely resembling scientific ? No, it wouldn't.
