From my experience with GalCiv 2, the Stardock approach towards good vs evil, is to punish good, while rewarding evil. I'm hoping this model changes or turns out differently in this game. So the questions I have is: 1) Will good still get punished, and evil rewarded? If not, how will this change? 2) What benefits will there be for being good, evil, or something else? 3) Can "good" magic harm, and "evil" magic heal? 4) Will the people at Stardock be open
In these forums you'll see debates, discussions and ideas on how to make the game better. On some things we'll agree, in other places we'll disagree and explain why. If we don't agree with an idea or suggestion, we'll try to explain why we believe the way we do and defend our design choices when possible. All players are encouraged to participate.
I hope to participate in these discusions when they occur. I'm sure my suggestions and comments will be quite useful.
I've already pre-ordered it already.
I don't watch TV very much anymore. I have trouble finding goods shows that I like now a days, and I often find it difficult to remember to be around to watch them. As such, I tend to buy the shows I like on DVD. I don't have to worry about commercials, and I can watch them when I want to. That said, there are a few shows I know of that are good that you might like. NCIS: This show is like all those CSI shows where the overall objective is to solve this crime, but they
1. Improve the preference icon from the glowing blue orb to something that implies preferences can be made there. Too many posts are resolved with "click the blue orb" because people don't find it intuitive.
Good pick Lord Reliant. With that blue orb, Impulse feels too much like microsoft office 2007. I hate those ribbons, or whatever they are called. I haven't found a way to revert back to a classic view or user interface. They didn't even consider that some of
P.S. I heard nasty a rumour recently. Could you sheed some light on this? Does Impulse allow companies to have DRM software to be installed along with the games they offer? I heard some rumours that it would be possible for companies to do so. If this is true, could we get a DRM watcher for all games and programs? I would like to get a warning if we can expect to get something like securom installed with our purchases and downloads. Removing securom (EA version)
My wishlist: To be able to see my games in details view settings (its what I normally use for my file folders). To be able to que task for impulse. I've had the need to reinstall all my games recently (replacing my C: and reinstalling windows on it) and I found the task of reinstalling multiple games quite time consuming when you have to manually tell them to install, where to install, make an archive of them, and yes to install desktop icons. To be able to
So this is direction you guys are going. I thought you were going to take another direction. One that gave us the full warcraft experience to go with the diablo experience.
While I'm thinking about it, perhaps I should purpose a new type of demigod. Lets call them builders, crafters, or better yet, artificers. These "artificers" will support the war effort by building structures, crafting special equipment and making them available for use by creeps and other demigods, and making special stuff for themselve
To quote frogboy (aka Brad):
1) I don't want generals building barracks and such. Besides how hard that would be to balance, I don't think of generals as builders but rather people leading units in some way.
When I first heard of this game (before it was possible to preorder it), I got the impression that it was Warcraft meets Diablo. You would have the assasins who were players who specialized in kicking butt (Diablo), and the generals would be the players who
Thanks. I'll keep an eye one this game for the time being.
Fallout 3 does have SecuROM, but it doesn't have the on-line activation or limited activations 'features' turned on.
After spending some time researching, what I found does appear to match you claims. I also have read about the no disk check stuff. Anyways, when running the game like you say, does securom run at all?
Speaking about securom, I heard that Bethesda's Fallout 3 has securom on the PC version of the game. I was wondering if anyone else heard the same. I'm quite disapointed right now. I was looking for some new sci-fi FPS game and I heard about Dead Space. After returning my copy (after discovering securom), I turned my attention to Fallout 3. Shortly after realease, I started reading that it too has securom. What am I to do? I do like playing the odd FPS every now and then. I'll
@WIllythemailboy Say, does your recreation pits have openings for annoying relatives who might get a sugar overdose this holloween? ________________ Anyways, I was hoping to get more replies by holloween. Maybe I put it in the wrong section (recently changed). I still hope to get some more participants in this game.
(Me as the Korx) Last year I ran around mugging little kids for their candy. I was too cheap to buy my own supply to hand out to the little ghouls and goblins. I was so successful in my raid that I still have a supply left over from last year (after I had my fill). As such, I'm going to be handing out my last year's reserve of candy (their old and stale now). Come on over. I'll try to keep my mugging to a minimum this year. [e digicons]}:)[/e]
Holloween is going to be here in a few days. To pass the time, lets play a game. The rules are simple: Pick a civ Decide (pick one, maybe more) A. if you handing out treats (and what they are) B. decide if you are running some event (and describe what it would be like) C. or describe your experiences of that culture's Holloween (assuming you survived it) Have fun! Edit: Oct 31, moved from off-topi
But there's so much I want to do in a GalCiv III that aren't in GalCiv II and really can't. GalCiv III would be a very different animal than II.
You wouldn't happen to have a top 10 list made already? You know, something you can show us (with a warning it would be subject to change for any reason), or is it too early for that?
I'm not sure how big of a priority these are, but these are what I hope to have resolved before things become final. 27) Long term starbase defense options: Near the end of a game where everyone is running around with doom rays and nightmare torpedos, starbases are weak prey to just about anything. A fully equiped starbase can't survive against a small group of well built ships, or a single powerful huge one. Suffice to say, at this point, a player can have a lot of starbase
The economics in this game are a little wierd. The devs want to fix things for it, but it might not happen at this rate (version 2.0 is said to be the last major update for this game). Any ways, if you are used to playing civilizations, you might find this game a little difficult to get used to at first. ________________ Now to try to answer some of your quesitons. If you have any more, feel free to ask them. Try to number them so we know where one question ends and another be
I don't like playing as the unlean one. It makes me feel dirty.[e digicons]x_x[/e] /joke There, I wanted to be the first to say that. Anyways, what are your opinions on the Unclean one? Me, I haven't had the time yet to give 'it' (can't tell what gender it is) a good test run. However, it feels like its placed inbetween the Rook and Torch Bearer in terms of abilities. Its clearly designed for melee combat, but it seems to have better AO
Some more suggestions for version 2.0: -Icons for starbase build statis: We get an icon on the side whenever we have ships built, and for spies. Can we get one for when a starbase gets completely filled up with modules? I've played large maps and I have at times completely filled up a starbase, but have no idea where it is. As such, it requires some effort to locate that specific starbase so you could redirect constructors head for it to somewhere else, and to avoid those annoying mes
@BoogieBac I said I would get back to you about an issue in a previous post of mine (in this thread), so here I am. I had some time today and played around with the download issue I mentioned I had with Sins of a Solar Empire, and it appears that a recent update has fixed it. Sins now asks me where I want it to be installed to. So disregard my previous post that mentions it. However, there is a few issues from installing from archive. Atleast when
@BoogieBac I haven't had the problem LogicSequence is having, but I have different one (which might be related). When I have the "Prompt for install directory" checked (see Preference -> Folders), Impulse freezes when I try to install Sins fresh (uninstall it completely, then try to download and install). It seems unable to ask me where to install. However, when its not checked, it installs normally to whatever folder it should install to (a setting that
I have a few more coments to make and questions to ask at this point in time: 1. Does pasive spies steal techs? 2. The AI doesn't seem to compete well for extreme planet types. On smaller maps, I can nab most of the extreme planets before the AI researches the techs needed to colonize them, or before they try to declare war on me. Either way, I tend to have enough planets to win the war, even if the AIs manage to steal a few planets. 3. There appears to be a
Somewhere BoogieBac mentioned that tech stealing would be just like it was in DA and pre-2.0 TA. In that instance, I only ever got techs while I had spies on a planet. So taking his words, along with these years at Advanced...I would place a 99% chance that you can only tech steal w/ spies via active planetary spies.
I agree with that statement. In TA 2.0 beta, I haven't managed to steal techs unless my spies were on enemy planets (haven't bothered with friendly or
