When opening the german xml files, there is a token for our special characters äöü, it is a square. I got the latest word and ultra edit text editors, but none of them is able to recognize the tokens. So when I change the xml file and save, the files become corrupted and within the game, nothing works anymore. IE I changed the custom race in the raceconfig.xml and saved. The descriptions read "Reduces the cost of the Survey Module to zero, allowing you to equip any ship to explore anomalies." Your wikipedia also says the same. Now Ive made this improvement for the 10th time and there happens absolutely nothing. The survey mod still cost 11points. Just found it out as I installed my mousesoftware. When there is a mousesoftware running that defines middle and other buttons, it is inpossible to rotate anything in GalCivII. Even when I set the middle mouse button to the "middle mouse button" function (thats actualy no function at all), it does not work (logitech mouseware). Tried it out with a microsoft mouse and microsoft software, same result. Got to deinstall the software in order to play GalCivII... big deal to have a 5 button

Thanks for the answers. First off, Im not assuming the AI cheats, it was a question, but for some reason this forum did not want to accept my post with an ? in the thread title. Few days ago Ive read an article about cheating AI... the GalCiv2 guys demented this and said the AI depends on the difficulty setting... well, how comes when I start a game in challenging diff level (or above) the other civilizations have pointdefense, but not ecm techs researched (example - I have checked few more techs, but this was the one I found out very fast )?
