I get around a lot in these forums Took me four months to save for Object Desktop, circumstances being what they are. All in all I think Master Skins and this is just my opinion, applies to all those Ive downloaded, they are that good, to me anyway. An old saying is that you get what you pay for. Freebies are good but that is just what they are, freebies, skins submitted by those more interested in sharing

I want to add my three cents if I may...I have an ongoing chat with Fairyy and a couple of others who are helping me with my first skins. All I can say is that you guys...every one of you are the greatest. Thanks for letting me be a little part of this wonderful community.

I have finished a set of wallpapers and want to know how to upload them for someone to critique. They are a bit heavy though at 4.7mb. Is that a problem?

It's called The Follower smx. Found it some time ago when I first started visiting WC. I think the author is the same as blue master but I'm not sure. Anyway...made my first rainy using Gimp. Just a simple orb. I kept it as simple as possible. Did the ini and copied it to Rainlendar. But when I called up the rainy nothing worked. I double checked the ini, corrected a few mistakes and then compared it to one that was similar. I could not find anything wrong with it. The days do not show u

Vista is what you want it to be...nothing more...nothing less...period. I run XP pro SP2. PC mag rates Vista as running slower than XP on most machines. Runs better on dual core machines. So if you want the big bang buy the dual core and then Vista. As for price, while it is high, if you want something bad enough you'll go for it. As for performance in general...my XP on my machine already does what MS says Vista can do so why upgrade. If I see the need then I'll go for it and not until. I'll wa

Next question...sysmetrix...Wall is finished and now I need some pointers on how to do the ini file for my smx. Always on...is it for every graphic image? Plus I see various sizes for fonts. I understand why but...ooops...answered my own question. You put fonts on as you make them, quote unquote. Sometimes my brain works, like cloud instead of could...oh boy. Oh yeah... I wanted to know if anyone knows the author of the follower smx. I need to request permission to use two images for the smx

I are who I say I are...Where is everybody? Not often I get to be first. My real name is Ross Anderson. I "dabble" in electronics and am a wannabe computer nerd. Basically I'm the new kid on the block. One thing I love is a challenge and this skinning thing is well...quite that. I'd be interested to know how others got started. I'm hooked...thats for sure and now I'm learning. It just don't get better than that. Yay for me. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/BigSmile.gif" border

Just read the article...you are right about the profit thing. Too many people die because they or family members cannot afford the exorbitant prices of drugs. The price of living in a capitalist society. Money talks after all. If you got it no problem...if you don't...you're screwed!!!

You would think that microsoft, with all the hoopla about new OS's, would at least try to keep pace with third party paint apps. But then again...maybe Mr. Gates or whomever does these things thinks it's not worth it? Oh well...their loss our gain.

Hey folks...just read It's My Secret's post...I copied two skins to rainy 2.0 out of curiosity. Clicked on calendars and they don't show up although the details of each are listed when I go to the options dialogue. I'm gonna do what you guys did and uninstall the one I have and then redownload. Cloud be that it was a beta. I'll let you know.

The install package is similar to the old version. I simply clicked on it and it installed automatically. Had no need to do it over the original as it is a separate install. In other words it does not overwrite the old one. Keep the old and just install as you normally would. You should have them both...I do. I didn't import any skins as yet. Don't know if they'll work. I just called up Rainlendar2 and now have both on desktop. How do you import skins from old one?

Correction to my last post. Went into rainlendar 2.0 and did a little digging. It has a new file extension....r2skin...a renamed zip...There's one skin, shadow4, I unzipped it and got the following. Three folders (images, scripts and docs), the images folder has the skin components, buttons todo items etc., the scripts folder is empty and inside the docs folder is twelve xml's, not html's like I stated earlier...duh...They are...Alarm, calendar, digiclock, dual calendar, elements, eventlist, langua

Another way is to save all files to disk. All the skins I've downloaded is saved to a download folder in My Documents. I then manually install them then copy them to my D drive as a backup. On my E drive I keep a separate folder called xtras and store them there. Redundancy does have it's uses. After new years I backed them all up using Nero backup. I do this with any app I download, including installer packages. This way I'll always have it should anything go awry. More than once it saved me ho

The new rainlendar is somewhat different. I haven't gone in depth to it yet but I believe it deals not with ini files but with html's. How this is different has yet to be discovered. The lite version doesn't seem to have all of the same capabilities as the pro version though. The main difference there I believe is of course the "free" version and the pro comes with all the bells and whistles. The one thing I did do is to keep the old and have 2.0 installed as a separate app. The new one will tak

My voice may not count for much being a newbie but...I believe honesty, no matter that it might ruffle some feathers, can only be constructive in the long run. If I screw something up I'd rather somebody say so in no uncertain terms. It's the only way to learn. Frogboy...I love your stuff dude...just do what comes natural. Those who know you understand. I for one would like to.

Thanks Boopish. This skinning thing has got me good. My wall is nearly finished. One thing that might be a problem is I think my smx is a bit large. Takes one (or nearly) third of my desktop. When the screenshot is ready I'll let the experts judge for themselves. Happy skinning
