Exactly. Ryat is correct. SoTS2 has much more in common with the Total War series than anything else. I gave it another run after EoF was released. It is definitely playable, and a lot smoother now since the "all clear". However my two main pet peeves still stand. The clunky UI, and the at times confusing Fleet mechanic. I can add the still busted galactopedia to the list, but that has nothing to do with game play. It does have some of the old SoTS 1 features i liked. Like the ship de

You realize the skybox, and enviroment cube textures do not need any mip maps, because the skybox, or enviroment cube doesnt scale in, or out like the ship meshes do. Already fixed that issue for next TSOP update. :) Amazing how much less space textures take up if you take out the mip maps. Good Job Fist0 :D

All doable, but kind of a tall order on the scale of Sins. Even if a new Sins is 64 bit multi thread capable you still have to consider hardware limitations. Despite hardware being far more advanced in a few years. While i like most of the ideas, Most of this is just "eye candy" that will not really effect game play at all. You cant enjoy moving flaps, and turrets if you are zoomed out on icon view for most of the game. Though i suppose hardware will be advanced enough by that time to where i

64 bit not a word of war. It's just an old beaten down topic that wore out its welcome, because we know that it's not gonna happen with Sins 1. You do have to give the Dev's credit for stretching this 32 bit engine as far as they could, and for the support they have given over the years. Rebellion is almost at the point to where you really don't need TSOP any more. The dev's are finding more ways to optimize with each update. The current Rebellion version of TSOP p
Just an engine upgrade would be enough for me. That the original was made before multicore and 64bit is nothing short of a tragedy.
It's not a Tragedy. It is just how things were in 2006/2007 when the game was first designed. I am sure if 64 bit was the big thing then. Then Sins would have been written in 64 bit.

You mean combat on the "Z" axis. Z axis movement is already in Sins 1, but not really implemented very well for combat. If it were you would need true formations, and tactics like in Homeworld 1. Which i already suggested.

Or you can add the research, and appropriate entity's, and edits in the player faction file. On top the existing factions Titan that will unlock another factions Titan so that you have a choice of which titan you can build. How you would do that is a little above my pay grade. Back on topic..

I didn't use your tactic, but I have flipped planets with culture (Culture Centers plus DE), and they had Starbase's with Aux Govt. I wouldn't have said it if i didn't do it. Go ahead, and check it out. The way i see it is that it's an advantage for the Advent where they can cap worlds without bombardment at all.

They do need to keep the current sandbox style. However they can expand upon it by creating scripted "Historical Scenarios" simulation key battles of the TEC, Advent, and Vasari conflict. Where you must achieve certain objectives for victory. Like Liberate "this" planet, or destroy the Vasari prototype Titan before it finishes construction. That would be the closest thing to a campaign without actually having to create one. The new game will no doubt introduce us to the "Unknown Enemy

Sins 2 i believe is inevitable considering the success of Sins. Like was said Ironclad is working on SoaDA. So i dont think we will see Sins 2 for a few years. 64 bit, and multicore support is a must have. I would like to see Sins 2 implement what was planned for Sins 1, but didn't make it into the game. Orbiting planets, and moons. Stuff that was thought to not work like open maps, and travel range based on antimatter.

If you play against Advent you need to "out culture" them. Vs Advent Loyalist it will be much harder against the recent 1.1 buffs. Cap ships repel culture. They do not create culture themselves. A full fleet of cap ships cannot repel fully researched Advent Loyalist culture. If Deliverance Engines are on the map you have an even bigger problem, because they were buffed in 1.1 :) Do what Aresiv suggested. If you are playing as Advent just use the Deliverance Engine on an adjace

Which mods are you running? you may want to let the mod project lead know that you got a 2 gig issue.

I am updating TSOP:R to 1.1 as i type this. SD fixed the particle bad file path names for the textures, but they left all of the texture animations, and effect meshes with the bad file path names. So i am removing them all, and double checking everything with the 1.1 reference files. Expect an update soon. The previous version "should" work with 1.1 if you remove the GameInfo folder, Entity.manifest, and the English.string files. Rebellion is fixed enough to where you dont need those

If he has a second standard HD it probably would be better to put the page file there. SSD's are good, but from what i hear they don't last very long if they are constantly being written on.

Site like that count on you NOT looking over the fine print before you download, or for you being a total computer inept, and clicking yes to everything. So read over EVERYTHING, and don't click anything until you know exactly what you are getting. If in doubt DO NOT download it, or click it.

Or use you can use TSOP once i update it for 1.1 (Shameless plug) :D Seriously Gofan is right. Large Address Aware is an old beaten down topic here. There are many threads about it. LAA AFAIK is mainly for windows XP systems, and if you use windows 7 you really don't need it. I could be wrong, but i do know that LAA only worked for a few people. For others it did absolutely nothing, but make the game more unstable. If you do use LAA, and it works for you then great. I suggest you

Not only that you would have to figure out a way to make all factions be able to use the phase gate, or phase node at a planet. AFAIK it is coded only for the Vasari factions. Another thing you can try is make stars themselves into planets. They dont need phase lanes. However you will have to make interstellar phase jump tech automatic.

They made the game "Over Complicated". While the Mars engine, the graphics, and SoTS lore are outstanding. They took what made SoTS1 fun, and removed it. SoTS 2 is all clear, and very playable now, but it is a "hardcore" 4x game. Only hardcore gamers will enjoy it. Once they figure everything out. Basically SoTS 2 is a niche game inside of a niche genre. It has the complexity of old school tabletop games like Warhammer, and Star Fleet Battles. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing especiall
