My mouse has 'cruise' buttons, one press and its scrolling down at a rapid rate of knots. It also has side scrolling/tilt, but I find that a bit useless.

I emailed him recently and he has a job! Unfortunately its taking up more than enough of his time and you can guess how that effect skinning/widget creation. He did let me know that he has got several things in the works, but it'll be a long while before he gets time to complete them.

https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/documentation/index.html Go though the tutorials in the 'Developer's Guide'. The Creating an MP3 player (Video tutorial) is a good guide and would be an ideal choice for someones first widget. You may find scanning through the other parts of the documents esp the creating objects. The more advanced widgets you'll see make use of either Visual Basic or Java script.

I'm working on an Album Art widget/gadget. The plan is to have it popup on a track change and auto fetch the album cover from the internet and cache the image for later use. Baring any unforeseen problems an initial version should be ready by this weekend.

Those gel wrists rests are very bad, all they end up doing is put more pressure on the median nerve (assuming that by mouse wrist you mean carpal tunnel syndrome). Rest is obviously the best, but prevention is better than a cure. Go see your doctor.

I've heard many different comments on some of the things you've touched apon here. The quickest I've heard Vista install was 35 mins, the longest was an 50mins. By all other account, your opinion of the new glass effects and its performance depends on the hardware you run it on. Ranging from "OMFG this thing flys" to "where the **** is my glass and why is it so damned slow".

Well there is one bit of Vista Vileness that I really like - http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/21015099/ Works better than I thought it would, plus its a DX3 gadget which is different.

Most home users will never used MS Office to its full potential, heck, where I work the only thing we couldn't use OpenOffice for is our database application. Personally, I use Opera but thats a whole other can of worms
