Before the latest version, I used to get mismatches in buildable tiles versus indicated PQ. That was an annoying problem, but it's supposed to have been fixed. I haven't seen it since myself. Now I sometimes get situations where a planet, on invasion, increases more than expected with respect to indicated PQ. This is with the "instant upgrade" of neutral alignment. Orbital Terraformer would probably do the same thing. I think there's a bug, but it works in my favor so that's fine if

Oh okay, I get it. I've gone a couple hundred thousand BC in debt on occasion when doing mass upgrades. Of course, this is with an economy pushing close to that so it's only a couple turns to get out of hock. So, I was reading this thread thinking this was a change with DA or something because I've never seen it. If it's something that applies only to lower difficulty levels, that's probably a good thing. If you're still learning the game, you need the help. If it applied to higher difficul
Yea, it's fun to get those monster planets, especially when it's early in the game and you can fully develop them. I always keep an eye out for the purple stars. The quantity seems to be somwhat random. IIRC, I found three of them in my current game (gigantic/abundant).
I like to group things because it makes it easier to see how a planet is built at a glance. I don't get particularly bothered by planets with tiles on edges, but it would be better for me if tiles were always grouped.
That's so it can do the endgame save. You have to hit the turn button after you meet victory conditions. That way, you can reload the endgame save and view the results and/or post the game to Metaverse. One thing you can do to avoid all that spacebar business is to put all ships in some mode like guard or sentry. That way turns don't have modeless ships to wait on. Quickest way to do that is to hit the Find button and press G on all the ships it points to.
I have a couple of old computers like that (AGP 4x). They're quite obsolete. The computer I normally use is up-to-date and runs a GeForce 7900. If you want to switch to PCIe, you're going to need a whole system (motherboard, processor, memory, power supply, video card). It's not an inexpensive transition. However, I think you might be able to get something like a GeForce 6800 AGP to run in 4x mode. IIRC, I tried a 6800 on one of my old Athlon T-Bird computers and it worked. Those cards ar
Certainly the AI specializes it's planets but not nearly to the degree that the human can. I don't feel the AI does much at all with their planets. They seem to utilize planets about 50% of what they are capable, but it could be the game setup I'm using. If they were to build their planets they way a human player does, I'd be playing at a much lower
Been playing gigantic with everything on abundant. In 1.2, I was winning at Sucicidal with all 9 races at max intelligence. However, since changes to the game, I've dropped down to Masochistic and I dont' run all the races at the highest intelligence. Maxed-out games take a long time to play and require lots of micro-management. If you don't mind playing a game over the course of time, it's great, otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. I have managed to find some tricks to make handl
Like the opening song as well, but unchecked the music option since in-game music gets monotonous after a while. Sometimes I find myself whistling it. Kind of sticks in your head that way. Been playing gigantic with everything on abundant and my load times run around a minute. Don't think I'd tolerate load times much longer than that. I would say there's something wrong if load times are running upwards of a couple minutes.
Thanks, will do. Sorry for the redundant post. I didn't catch the previous post about the same problem. - Craig
When I tried to post my last game to the Metaverse, I got the following error: (12) Your game submission was rejected because the application serial number does not match the serial number on the Metaverse server. I tried deleting my sig.bin and reactivating the game, but I still got the error.
Set your in-game resolution to the size of your desktop. Run 4x anti-aliasing. Otherwise, graphics look fine to me.
Yea, I got mad at the frequent radical changes to the game. I figured if they can't get it right after a couple updates, they'll never get it right. I even uninstalled the game from both my computers swearing to never play it again. Went on to play other games, but I missed GC2. The game is just too good, can't stay away from it. Next time I don't like the changes, I'll just keep quiet knowing I'll get over it eventually. So, I'm back, more humble for the experience. Hehe, thanks for noti
Hey Mumblefratz, The images should be clickable for a larger image, then clickable again for full size. This is a stock 1.4x Metaverse game where I acquired a larger than usual military over the course of the game. Just wanted to share the experience. I'm running 11 transports in each troop carrier fleet. Each transport holds 1000 troops. I'm running 7 huge hulled fighters in each fighter fleet. There are 80 transport fleets and 89 fighter fleets.

I was shocked to read the change log. They're going to nerf stock exchanges. I posted my rant at the end of that change log post. Well, it's been real and it's been fun, but since 1.3 and 1.4, it hasn't been real fun. What's the point of playing a game whose updates only give me less enjoyment? See ya.
+ Stock market no longer gives morale bonus (wasn't supposed to in the first place) Man, I've had it with this. Just when I get used to a change to the game, they do some other nerf that totally changes things. I really don't care if stock exchanges were not supposed to provide a morale bonus. They put it in the game and now they're taking it out a
There's also the gasoline you used to drive to the store and get it. That can add up pretty quick these days.
Changes base population from 5b to 12b. Changes base manufacturing points from 16 to 24. The home planet also gets a 10% morale bonus.
Yea, they are pretty retarded that way. Once I get Eyes of the Universe, I delete all my scouts except one. With Eyes of the Universe, one scout loaded with engines can auto-explore a whole gigantic map in a hundred turns or so. There's no need to have a bunch of them do the same thing in a conga line. But, it would be better if you *could* have several of them exploring different areas at the same time. Before I get Eyes of the Universe, I'll somtimes sent them off in different directions
I don't play as Korx so I hope you don't mind me commenting on your post. I do play as neutral, but mainly for the instant PQ upgrades and morale bonus. The extra trade routes can by handy, but I don't think it's something that makes a huge difference in the game. If you rely on trade for more of your income, it might. However, if you're playing Metaverse, you'll be going big to score points. In that case, trade routes are much less economically significant. I've played Metaverse games whe
I really don't see how a game can be played successfully at high difficulty levels while keeping approval at 100% all the time. Income would be too low most of the time to compete with the AI. I let my approval numbers fluctuate quite a bit depending on what I'm doing. If I need population growth, I'll drop taxes. If I need money I'll run taxes up. I jockey the tax slider a lot. You don't *have* to keep approval in the green all the time. There are two primary disadvantages to l
My uncle was a JW. He was generally a smart man, but was attracted to the religeon for some reason. Unfortunately, he got sick and did not recover. In part, because his beliefs prohibited him to accecpt a blood transfusion. I don't know, but I think any religeon that can result in somebody's premature death over something as common and life saving as a blood transfusion doesn't deserve to be called a religeon.
The home planet bonuses are nice, but like Mumblefratz said, you can't totally base your start on it. What's in the neighborhood is just as important. Personally, I've taken starts with big bonuses on my home planet and I've taken starts with little or no bonuses on my home planet. Fortunately, the home planet advantage is not an all important factor. The bonuses are sure fun to get though. I've been playing with the 25% luck bonus and seem to get home planet bonuses pretty regularly, but I
I use them. If they have bonus tiles for research I'll use those. If not, I throw markets centers or later in the game, stock markets on them. They can make some bc so they're not worthless. When they have a good manufacturing bonus, I'll build factories on them and use them to build special projects.
