[/quote] Just purchase and download the game via Impulse. You will receive a valid serial number and be able to use Impulse to download the updates. There are a number of improvements that have been made with successive updates.

Another idea: How about hiring mercenaries from other races. Also this would mean that you could hire out mercenary ships from your own military. You could effectively fight a war by proxy and make money doing it!

What about spontaneous supernovas, where the star explodes and destroys the local system while spraying valuable resources on neighboring systems. (I think this would have to be a rarely occuring mega event).

I'll put in two cents about MOO3 as well. I bought the game for $1.00 in a bargain bin, and it was not a bargain at that. I tried the "strawberry" mod because that was supposed to make it better (according to some forums). But I felt like it was a game that one is supposed to watch rather than play. And it wasn't fun to watch.
