for like $50 US or so you could get the current budget card and it would still be a lot better
thanks for the info, i'll be looking into this. i paid $80 bucks this current card no less than 4 months ago. would a ATI RADEON 9550 be good enough?

here's my last debug file. maybe it'll get to keep its line formatting as this a reply... as it lost the formatting data, i'm going to put a copy of the file on my website. http://ubelkatze2004.googlepages.com/gc2_debug.txt
it could also be the sector grid lines.
here's a screen shot of the game where there's no shading/lighting except on the ships and the ship has no textures. [link="http://ubelkatze2004.googlepages.com/gc2_0.JPG"]http://ubelkatze2004.googlepages.com/gc2_0.JPG[/link]
i've noticed that there appears to be no lighting/shading effects either. never noticed this up until recentlly when i was viewing images in screenshot section which had these effects.
i had a planet with two 700% manufactoring bonus tiles on it once.
i've noticed this too. "fog of war" updates only take place it seems when a ship is selected or moves (with autopilot). i've noticed this when using the cheat to remove the for of war, planets and stars become visible but the fog stays until i select a ship. i've also noticed the mini-map won't update until i select a ship. the newest version might fix it...
I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.4 and I've never been able to post a new topic here in Firefox. It always gives me an error message about not being able to submit my post and to try again. I tried to post the same thing at least 10 times and got that error every time before I went to IE. Then in IE the forum lost all my line break data and such even though I had selected plain text mode so now on top of having to use IE to post a new thread I have to write in my own HTML code.
you can attack them if you break the alliance. go to the relations (or something like that) screen in foreign policy and click the civ in question and click the "Break Alliance" button. its where it would normally say "Trade Embargo".
planets, stars, anomalies, and resources all have textures on them. and installing it to C:\ Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\ (I assume this is what the default would have been, as it appears to have pulled up my actual install directory from the registry) didn't help any with the ship textures. also i've noticed that all engines colors show as white, don't know if that's associated with the texture problem or not though.
ok i plan on bumping this up until i get a good answer.
Ok that confirms my observation and theory then and answers Meklar4681's question: No, DreadArchon would not have had a loss in planetary improvements or quality.
What I'm getting at is that I've had a hugh advatage before (which, assuming that advantage factor and planet quality reduction are proportional) like 40 vs 7 and such and not seen * neglible decrease in planet quality or improvements lost after my invasion force is defeated. *(There may have been one, but from my limited observations there wasn't one.)
any chance the update is going to fix my other problem? Link
DreadArchon, didn't the mass driver bombardments destroy your buildings or lower your planet quality? Also didn't you loose lots of population? i'll admit i haven't paid much attention, but it seems to me after i bombard a planet (whose civ i've been spying on) it doesn't seem to lose any improvements. i wouldn't bet on that but its the genera
In the buy ship menu, if you select "Nothing", and click buy, it will bring a window for purchasing a "Ranger" class ship. The price seems to be that of the last ship selected (haven't confirmed) and when you click purchase it takes your money and then procedes in building nothing. Anyone else able to get this? On a side note, anyone else having trouble with the normal (non html) "Create Post" tool losing all line return data and not even being able to create a new p
something that might be of use: my computer is configured to have english (US), Japanese, and German on the language bar for keyboard emulation, but its default is english and the regional settings are always american. also i installed the program to my secondary hard drive, E:\Programs2\Stardock...etc.
i'll give you credit for probably not being able to read any of that but yes i updated my video drivers yesterday and no the Disable Ship Textures is not checked. [you're one of the developers right? what language did you use? i'm a c++ developer .]
ok i posted that in plain text mode from internet explorer. and btw it seems impossible to post a new post with firefox.
This is the third time I've tried to post as I keep getting "There was an error submitting your post. Please try again." I have an NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000 with updated drivers (trust me), a 1.6GHz processor and 512MB of memory.
