LOL actually it is just the opposite I tend to be a turtle builder. Alot of my MoM games were won through the spell of mastery. And in Civ I almost never started a war as I was almost always republic or democracy. I just tend to find war game diplomacy to limited, to one sided, and to non binding for my tastes. As for other types of victories instead of martial, I support the idea but find the computers propensity to not be able to truly grasps the mechanics and complexity of true dip

I should really stay out of this,... But so much hate in this thread. Now I don't pirate. Honestly to lazy to find the sites, and to worried about the legal ramifications to do it even if I did. Unlike alot of people I am well aware of the electronic trail you leave when you use the internet. and that will always bite you in the ass eventually. To be honest I can't wait to see how the "Hurt Locker" lawsuits fall out. But I cannot really support either side here. <
I also love this idea, and actually to expand upon it have dungeons exert a ZoC like cities and have the residents be fearfully protective of it.
My problem here is almost all 4x games have this already. I can't think of one that doesn't already have a diplomatic slider or rating between you and every other empire. The problem is one, it is a generic rating that the AI's already use. Two, it isn't the rating that is the problem but the AI's intelligence and ability to be just as sneaky and underhanded as the player. And Three, lets face it most of us ignore those silly sliders or rating bars anyways.
There is an idea for the game, Call them Forum Caves and thats where trolls come from!!! Hell have you author put in the book where the hero has to go into the Forum cave's where he is assulted by the Forum Trolls. Well not Assulted as much as insulted repeatedly about his skill and gear and why he is doing this or that. You can even add the comic releif troll called Fanboy. Fanboy is the runt troll that gets pciked on and beat up by the Forum Trolls. And the entire time he fo
Why did the trolls leave their lands? I don't think having an apparent motivation (even in an RPG) is any sort of basic requirement for a "living" world. Why DID the trolls leave their lands?
Everyone knows Trolls migrate whenever there is a forum that hasn't been settled yet. Of course the bigger the forums the more trolls that migrate.
If they thought it might cut into their miniture sales share.. Yes They Would. Not sure you could legally stop a mod, but if it infringed on CR and TM they might be able too. But as other people pointed out their is no TT sim because they are afraid of the margins to their miniture sales. and these people routinely C+D sites and games. It's funny I own a bit of their minitures, Orks and SM mostly. But I can never play because I just don't have any freinds that do. Sham
The one thing I would be worried about. Is that since GW is soooooo IP overprotective. I mean these guys really are over the top. They would find someone to C+D a mod.
Quoting XeronX, reply 1 Man this makes me want Beta 2 even more since you "SAID" we would be getting the in-house build Not to be a killjoy, but I'm pretty sure Frogboy said in another post that we wouldn't be receiving modding tools in Beta 2.
lol I'm not talking about the modding tools. I am talking about the spells. My time Beta'ing 1z was mostly spent on tech trees, build

I also agree here, though envision a slightly defferent implementation. I think I would like to see more of a flat cost based on tech color (green vs yellow vs orange), and when you chose your tech tree you also choose a color to go after. Since most games Mining in Green but I tend to ignore it because early game it really just isn't worth the time spent on it. But by the later game I am finding a huge time cost associated with then acquiring it. I am of the feeling
Quoting XeronX, reply 13 While I can definitely get behind this idea. I am worried that if carried to the Nth degree. I am not sure I want to sqaure off against a solely magic monster army. I would definitely support this idea if there were some limits in place to keep them rare and special instead of masses of magical shock troops. of course there would be checks in
I would personally support anything that helped differentiate Children from Champions
I just found out today that the sovereign's children start with essence. Now I have been playing this since they opened at the begining of 1Z. So just imagine if they open another round for Beta 2 how many new players have even more to catch up on. Also once the Graphics engine, MP, and Tatical stuff goes in plus we will probably see more magic to use to. Wouldn't it be nice to have a forum where we could help each other and the new folks with the questions that will enevitably be ask
I was a little bored and looking through my old posts, Thought I would bump this one. I still think this is a good idea. Especially if you are going to be opening beta up to a bunch on new people here soon. There are alot of things in this game that being able to ask a question in a forum that is for us dedicated testers to anwser instead of the devs would cut spam in other forums. On top of that the devs could see what particular things the community of newbies is asking alot
I know now after posting my "gimme Beta 2 now before my heart explodes" post that beta 2 is 20 days off or so. But after realizing I have just posted to the top 10 threads in ideas and my name is on all the last post spots. and that atm I am spending my day forum trolling or opening impulse to see if this game needs updating >. That I feel I have really tested everything I can test. So I Humbly Beseech the Gods Frog and Boogie to push the release
I think that if anyone breaks a diplomatic deal -like declaring war on an ally -or attacking a neutral city while "just passing through" Your cities should get hit with a prestige penalty for 10-20 turns, so that if you keep acting decietful your people will start to migrate away. Of course,, you can always choose to kill them instead with Sacrificial ALtars ... :3 Anyways, point being that doing crappy t
Also, if new cities require materials, I'd find odd that the first city doesn't. Essence is, after all, just to bring the land to life and not to build cities... Just me being nitpicky. Except that, I like swapping city "DRM" (CBM?) from Essence to Materials.
Well this part is easy to fix. Just have all starting Sov's have just enough for the first city. Is it realistic no, is it lore centric no. But does it
I feel the need to comment here concerning some of the things froggy has said. While I can completely respect his stance. I have to admit the thing that will determine how long I play this game will not be the SP portion. I am not one of those people who has played Civ 1 or 2 for 5 years running. But it will be the "When my brother comes home on leave to visit" statement The one thing that has brought me back to MoO 2 for over a decade has been sitting down and playing
Phantom armies on the world screen would be so much fun lol.
Yeah the leveling thing seems a little weak atm. I also only put points in either Ess if I need more cities or HP's otherwise because those extra 10 HP's seem to make alot bigger difference than that + 1 to attack or combat speed.
As I posted in another post I think the balance here would be linking spell research to being in a city or even capitol city. Not only do spell points take X amount but each spell takes X amount of turns. This means that sov's that run around killing things will be combat strong while sov's that stay at home will be magic strong. Also if the construction of magic items took time inside a city with the approriate building. that would also help balance out the Exploring vs sitting
Requiring Spell Research to not only cost SP's but X amount of turns in city researching could be a way of slightly balancing things out. That way Galavanting soveriegns while more powerful will be magic weaker. Which if you think about it actually makes a kinda sense.
ATM essence cost to build a city, and later will be material costs, plus X amount of tiles between cities min that is still being worked out. Think it is 5 atm. Also with resources on a global scale vs a city scale it is alot easier to make a mistake and stop all city growth due to lack of food/housing atm. So unless you are like me and going to build balanced cities (As I absolutely hate specialty cities). You really need to know what you are doing and plan like chess as opposed
You know as for the illusion thing. If handled correctly that could be incrediable. Imagine before it goes to the battle screen you were asked if you wanted to create any illusionary forces. If you did they were placed when the regular forces were so your opponent didn't know what was illusionary or not. Lets say we make a companies of illusionary calvary. The enemy adjust his starting position to take into account the 4 companys, say putting his pikeman on his front
