I would like that as its a pity to have no option but to blast them especialy as many are unarmed and not in a position to be more than a walk over

You can make alliances with both its just that the major ones are the only ones which count for the victory condition.
Cant seem to vote either but my must have feature would have player controlable combats as its the one thing I realy dont like about Gal CIV and will get me buying SE V when it comes out Simon
I dont see the point of arming cargo hulls But armouring cargo hulls in fleets they can be valuable if well defended as they will because of the way fleet combat is worked out increase the defense of the fighters
forgive me but what was wrong with it in the first place other than if you dident have it most ships where one weapon wonders. Ducks for cover
Congratulations and I think this is one time you should let life distract you All the best to you all Simon
Yes some times If have your popularity too low over the period of the government term and you will lose. However generally win next election.
I don’t know if it’s just me but I am in the middle of a game at the moment and one of the major players is a minor race. They will colonise but seldom get the opportunity to do so they will also conquer planets. In the game I mention the Akkadians? Have just crushed the Terans mostly because I gave them a Terran colony in their star system and some one else let off a precursor planetary upgrading device The main issue with minor races seems to be that they come late and get stuck with
I will occasionally name ships but generally only the ones with experience sort of to remind me who they are, but its a bit annoying since the battles are all done on auto a feature I really don’t like and ships die too easy. I am a fan of Space empires and Total war where you can fight your own battles and your being in command can make a difference and you can keep your one an only battle cruiser alive and force your opponent to kill the escorting corvettes first.
To a point but strike fleets can’t be every where at once and the AI is very good at out manuvering you even at the lower difficulties. It is also to be noted that orbital defence ships can be heavily armed and armoured when compared to strike ships of a similar tech level as they don’t have to use space for drives and life support. I have often blunted an aggressive AI's strike with what are mostly glorified defenders. Of course it depends how you play but it can work
which poses the question whets it based on early in the game when no one has a military? As I have seen it before most of the civs have the techs to build any sort of warship
Evil get the second nastiest missile and beam weapons in the game that I know off good get defences and neutral get neutral shipping which gives more trade routes and neutrality learning centres as well as the temple of the alignments and a few other planetary improvements I cant recall at this point
You can make plenty of cash by extortion see how much of there treasury they are prepared to hand over in exchange for the peace treaty they are desperate for. I have found it tends to be most or all of it. Then when you have bled them dry conquer them completely if you are evil enough or want to remove the civilization. Also consider the spoils of war to be the worlds you take with most of there installations intact. Simon
Might be worth having a carrier ship with a custom module which increased the logistics rating of a fleet it was in but only for logistics 2&3 vessels that the ship didn’t carry the fighters wouldn’t mater since they would all be launched in combat any way No idea how to program that but it’s just a thought Simon
