After renaming a city, if you zoom out on the map it will still show the old name of the city. Steps to reproduce: 1. Click the Settlement Details button. 2. Choose Rename City 3. Change the name of the city and click Accept. 4. Close the Settlement Details window. 5. Zoom out on the map until the city's name is displayed. Result: the displayed name is the old one before the rename. Ex
Well, in any case, the tutorials are due for a complete overhaul come release anyway, AFAIK
That's great. The tutorials are what many players will experience first, and you know how first impression counts
As I recall that particular step really means for you to just move to the entrance of the phase lane on your end and stop, not to actually jump just yet.
It's pretty confusing. The first instruction is: "Take your small fleet and investigate the nearby planet by clicking the move button then left clicking on the planet's icon in the main view. Alternatively, you can simply right click it." When you do it you start phase jumping and get th

Yes, I've noticed this problem on Beta 2 as well. Uh, 2? We're on beta 4 currently...
I meant "as well" in the sense of "in addition". What I wanted to say, is that it's a very old problem <

Yes, I've noticed this problem on Beta 2 as well. What I do to bypass this is phase jump back to the home planet and then back to the new one. This updates the tutorial for me.

Thanks folks. It's not that important; just my curiosity. I played Beta 2 back in July but completely missed Beta 3. But if it involves destruction, pirating and death, as you suggest, then I think I'd better skip it, and concentrate on Beta 4

From the Pre-Order FAQ:
Why can't I pre-order using PayPal? PayPal doesn't support charging orders on future dates. For this reason we're not able to accept PayPal for pre-orders. After a major beta version is released, there's an "open" period of about a week where you should be able to use PayPal (you will be charged immediately).
This is wrong. PayPal does allow you to get an authorization for a certain amount of money, capturing it at a la

The Pre-Order FAQ mentions a Digital Download + CD option of pre-ordering, however I cannot find this option anywhere on TotalGaming.net. I would appreciate if anyone could help me find it. I pre-ordered Dark Avatar this way, and it is nice having the physical CD of the game. Thank you!

Here we go. The Dark Avatar folder is 247MB. Is that the right size? It was installed as a subfolder of GalCiv2. When I start a new game it crashes just before reaching the map. The game also crashes when I choose Options from the menu. I wonder if anybody encountered anything similar and managed to fix it? I'll gladly supply any logs if needed. Thanks!

Thanks folks, I installed SDC and after expanding the Galactic Civilizations II folder it showed "Dark Avatar (Expansion Pack). I'm installing it right now! For some reason I thought I should receive an official invitation email to the beta. I guess it's from participating in too many MMO betas!

I pre-ordered Dark Avatar some time ago but still haven't gotten an invitation to the Beta. When should I expect one, does anyone know? I'm a bit disappointed as I really wanted to participate in it as soon as possible and to help it grow the right way (how modest I am! ) Any help would be appreciated!

Click the link below for a preview of Sword of the Stars , an upcoming space 4X game. It looks interesting. Browsing the screenshots, I liked the fact they are using real star names (e.g. Castor, Betelgeuse) with the actual star colors. The game does offer real-time space combat but besides this it seems like a lighter version of GalCiv2 and might attract those who found GalCiv2 to be too daunting. I forsee however that the hardcore will stay loyal to GalCiv2 for quite some time
