A lot of the balance issues in Elemental are symptoms of gameplay systems that, due to their intial design, are pretty much impossible to have balanced. The problem is not that '_____ values are too high' or something, its that the intrinsic flow of combat and progression need to be overhauled. 1.1's balance changes were done to take the systems we have now and balance them to a playable extent without overhauling everything.

You had me worried there [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] My fault for not quoting what I was referring to - sorry about that.
Flippancy aside, there is actually no point that you've made that is apparent. I wasn't speaking about the OP. I was speaking about the last paragraph of midn8t's post. You can't be serious that it was perfectly readable - over 100 stream of consciousness words with no punctuation is not readable.
Ouch - harsh grammatical crowd here. Although I am somewhat shocked that you felt the hypen was completely unnecessary. That was the single most important hyphen ever. And I mean ever.
Any game made in Michigan should come with free Red Wings ticket, jumper cables and a teenager to shovel my driveway. At a bare minimum. But hold the Lions tickets - don't want them.
He was at the head of the ship that crash..whether its directly his fault or not doesn't matter...
Actually that matters a great deal. Jon was not the president, king, emperor or supreme overlord where he worked previously. I'm sure he didn't work in a vacuum... On second thought, why I am bothering with this. What dragoaskani said, but nicer.
I must be an idiot (don't answer that). I had no idea you could create your own faction, although I've always used a custom sov. I'll have to try that out.
Good honest answer - nice to hear from a CEO who responds and doesn't give trot out PR mush...
I suspect that post-expansion, the WoM patches will mostly be fixes backported from the expansion Honestly, I suspect very few people will stick with WoM after FE comes out, so it may be a waste of resources to give it real post-expansion support.
You've hit the nail on the head there. WoM will almost certainly get maintenance bug fixes only with the enhancements going into FE.
So is your suggestion to not allow guardian units to leave a city at all? Or that guardian units should be nerfed according to the progress of the player (or levelled is more accurate I guess)?
Sorry, no can do. My head hurts from that massive run-on sentence. A little punctuation would help - maybe just one or two commas? Not asking for anything fancy like semi-colons...
I'd forgotten about Lords of the Realm II - Anyone know if it is available anywhere these days?
You can get it at gog.com - along with the others in the series. Lots of great old stuff there.
Ahhh I see some of the Paradox FANBOIS are here as well. They know full well how the gestapo moderators work over there. They delete posts and ban for saying negative things about their games. I've seen it, my friends have seen it and YOU have seen it. So don't act like paradox forums are gods gift to gamers. Worst forum and worst forum fanboie members I've ever seen.
Based on your tone in this thread and others, it's clear the problem is you. But keep posting - you're
Possibly the cpywright holders of master of magic must be pricks or have nasty contractual things stopping them putting it on Impulse?
You can get MoM for $6 on gog.com - no DRM. Lots of old games available there cheap.
Always impressed by someone who can articulately swear. When it's just f-this and that and doesn't convey any meaning, it's stupid - like being on the 5th grade playground again.
I disagree with all posters here and in every other thread. You are all a bunch of fucking idiots. I feel special now. W as that clever, petty or both?
LOL - Well I just hope Jon gets lots of embracing from Stardock down in his cozy crawl space.
All this means is that they're attempting at a relaunch of Elemental, so that the bad press of Elemental: War of Magic release in August 2010 won't carry over to Elemental: Fallen Enchantress. Essentially it's still just an expansion, you just don't NEED E:WoM to play it. It's just marketing so that we don't have to think about the disaster of August 2010 after Fallen Enchantress is released. We long-time players can think of it as just and expansion. There's no practical di
I can't resist this thread just for comments like this. According to you, it's bad enough that Stardock hired Jon. Now they're sheltering him! So they've built him a house, or let him live in the staff cafeteri
Always found the Pdox forums just fine - along with their games... Another company that communicates pretty well with its gamers.
Agree completely - this is a serious flaw in Elemental. I was very surprised that I couldn't upgrade my units. I get attached to them...
I think you guys miss the point If the classify it as a second game and never make an expansion for War of Magic that means the sales pitch they gave everyoen in December that if you guy the game before the end of the year you get the first expansion free has been null envoid and you get nothing for free.
Can't imagine Stardock doing that and I'm sure they have no intention of. The potential gain of a bit of money wo
Quoting BlackRainZ, reply 30 because they didn't bother to read and comprehend the journal post. Reading comprehension is low due to our industrial model education system. But thats for another topic.
One reason we home-school our kids. Sorry - now totally off-topic.
Brad did say that War of Magic will be updated in its own source tree independently of the expansion. But I would imagine the large bulk of their effort will go into the expansion(s).
