Publius, Yes it has been. Good to see a familiar avatar. Thanks for responding. I kept up with Nastytang for quite awhile via private messages on this website but he fell on hard times and could only get on in the library or some other public access. Haven't communicated with him in 3 years.

My last post on this site was over 7 years ago so forgive me if this is in the wrong forum or off topic or whatever. Not like they would need my permission but the admins should feel free to move, delete or lock this post as they see fit. This post, blog, thread or whatever it is, is primarily to gather my own thoughts as I begin to come to terms with my own mortality and look back on my life. I expect to go into many diverse topics including but not limited to philosophy, religion, t

What will be a joy for me is when all the rubes that voted for the twitler discover that they have no more social security, medicare or health care. No skin off my back as I'm set for life but those poor ignorant rural whites that voted for the gropenfuhrer will be in for a rude awakening when they figure out that the snake oil salesman they voted for hopes they drop dead. I'll be laughing all the way to the bank. [e digicons][/e]

No, it's still active. www.galciv1.com [/quote]Thanks. I see. The only thing that changed is the use of www.galciv.com to go here as opposed go to a selection between GalCiv1 and GalCiv2.

I typed www.galciv.com and ended up here. Does that mean that the original GalCiv site is no longer accessible? I never played the original game myself but I thought there was still at least a little traffic there. Oh well. Hopefully this site will match that of the GalCiv2 community in its heyday.

I had a pair of Hyundai 24" 1920x1200 monitors for a couple of years until one of them died. I ended up buying an Auria EQ276W which is a 27" 2560x1440 monitor for $399 from Micro Center. I would have prefered to stick with the 16x10 aspect ratio but that would have cost me over $1000. I ended up liking the 2560x1440 resolution so much that I bought a 2nd one, now I have dual 27" 2560x1440 and it cost me less than $800. I've only had them a few months but I really like the extra s

There are weapons that can be added to *any* kind of starbase and all they do is to protect the starbase itself. In actuality they don't really do a good job of that and it's far better to keep a top line fleet in the vicinity of (or on top of) a starbase for protection. These aren't the modules you want. The benefit of military starbases is that you can place starship assist modules that increase the attack and defense of the ships within the influence area of the starbas

Also note that you can place a colony module and a troop module on the same ship and that ship will be able to colonize empty planets as well as conquer enemy planets. So if you have Planetary Invasion and Advanced Troop Mod you can have a 1.25B colony ship which coupled with max pop growth tech and abilities gives you a colony that will become profitable in three turns (assuming reasonable levels of economic ability).

I make no claim at being other than an average Hearts player and I have no idea of how many times over the years I've played a game of MSHearts against the computer but this is certainly the first time (and probably the last) that I got the following results. The thing was I wasn't even really trying to shoot except for the last hand and even then I

Hmm ... Why was my 1,218,000 ZYW listed as not MV legal because it most certainly was legal in every sense of the word. Also not sure why my 3054800 ZYW posted in reply #195 of this thread is not listed at all. Maybe KP gave up.

Hey Neilo. Good to hear from you. Yeah, this isn't the only reason but it probably is the biggest contributor to being able to hit the 3.5 million point cutoff at which the game has an artificial limit, which is essentially why I wanted to document it. As everyone pretty much agrees that's worth very little these days but still. I haven't really been grinding away, I did post a single game at the 3.5M limit, I may do another someday but I've not had much motiva
