Thanks. It's much more readable now but I'm still not a fan of black backgrounds.

Yes, I'm talking about the Elemental forums. I forgot that this section was common to other Stardock products.
The recent change to the forms has made them hard for me to read (gray text on black...). Is there anyway to change them back to the old style or at least make them brighter?
I saw this post at work and I was going to write a post with my ideas but a lot of them have been covered by others. I'd just like to say that I'd like special abilities to work as "kits" that you can apply during unit creation. Each unit would probably only get one of these ability kits and certain kits would only be available to certain factions in order to make the factions more diverse. Kits could also be upgraded through research. For example, level one ice arrows could have a 25% chance
VexingVision is right on the mark. Out of all the areas considered here the tactical battles are probably the worst part for me. Go play HOMM3 for a few days and you'll really see how much Elemental is missing in this department. Many of the units in HOMM3 have unique special abilities. On their own these are small but together they combine to make combat much more interesting. HOMM3 also has 8 races(excluding the expansion) with a diverse array of units. Each unit not only looks very
This bug keeps happening to me in new games so I've uploaded my save. Attack the blue city and use chain lightening on the enemy sovereign until he dies. If auto resolve is used everything works fine. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9576711/Sovereign%20Vanish.EleSav
After capturing a nearby town (before founding my own) my sovereign disappears from the map. After hitting the turn button the town also disappears from the map. Although my sovereign is gone I do not lose the game. Edit: Tried founding my own town first and it still happened.
... you gotta remember that the game isn't a tactical battle simulation and they're meant to be short and sweet because you can have many of them per turn.
Well, they're definitely short. As of 3C the tactical battles are seriously lacking any depth. Looking forward to today's build.
I already have these titles but great news nonetheless.
Totally agree. Units are very bland and boring in 3C.
Well, it's definitely a step forward but when I opened this thread I was expecting to see something about how diplomatic capital had been reworked to have meaning in player vs player games. I'm not completely in love the artificial advantage diplomatic capital will now give over the AI. There were a lot of great ideas put forward by the other testers but I understand that they involved significantly more work.
I do not like the scaling. It's kind of an immersion breaker when my units are constantly morphing between gigantic and puny.
A dark day in Frogville.
I have a top of the line PC so I can view the game with all the eye-candy enabled no problem but I always find myself going back to the cloth map whenever I zoom to far in. For me there is virtually no reason to use the 3D map since everything is so much easier to see in cloth map mode. Especially goody huts. Too bad all that effort was put into the 3D. Personally, I felt the 3D art style could have been much much better. It's not terrible, don't get me wrong, but it feels a bit too generic f
I agree diplomacy should offer special units and abilities. Spies, diplomats, geishas, ninjas...of my favorite units from other games. This bleeds into asking for kidnap, assassination, theft, and so on (arson would be nice).
I like this idea a lot. Diplomatic capital could be a required resource to build these units instead of metal for example. I'd also really like to see
I find that if you attack the fleeing sovereign in melee he/she will die. Not sure if this is a bug.
Ranged weapons are still grossly overpowered. At 7 combat speed for example you can fire 6 shots. If anyone is left just move back one space so that your enemies remain out of reach and then repeat. It's very easy for a sovereign to take over the world all by himself!
4) How about having this be variable on how powerful the spell or attack is? The stronger the spell or the stronger the attack it will use more AP's. If a man can swing a sword and do 5 damage at a cost of 1 AP, why should a Wizard be able to cast a spell that levels a small army for 1 AP? If a Man can shoot a bow at a Dragon for 1 AP, why should it cost the Dragon only 1 AP to breath fire on the entire army? I understand the need to k
Tactical combat is better but magic is still overpowered. My sovereign can still take out all enemies in the first round using spells from the beginning of the game.
To get around Brad's concern you need a separate "tactical speed" stat, but TBH I think combat speed right now is overpowered since it boosts effective damage and tactical movement speed. Having a single movement stat affect both places doesn't strike me as a big problem compared to how crazy something with a high combat speed is right now (as it can either move and attack, or stand still and attack a LOT). Units are now refunded their action points every time initiative switches (defender to attacker, attacker to defender), rather than after each round. Units use these action points to counter attack. 1 AP per counter attack. When you're out of AP, you're done counter attacking. Please note that this doesn't
we are not talking about a footman we are talking about dragons, wyrm, powerful champions ofc you can nuke a critter, but you cant with a dragons so locking a dragons making him waste AP against summoned creatures or shit is a cheating mechanics just a plain sucking of AP cant work, there is a non opinable flaw in this system
Quoting Sushikawa, reply 783C still coming out today? 3C, huh? Where'd we hear about this?
OP in the tactical battle evolution thread by Frogboy
Summon ship doesn't work either.
Same here. Actually if you equip it and exit the menu really fast it won't crash. This is the case for soldier creation at least. Not sure for sovereigns.
