I'm enjoying this a lot too. I just found this thread yesterday and it's been keeping me entertained in class ever since. I really like the up close, personal interest perspective on the story. I've been tempted to post something similar before (Epic tale from the perspective of speeches, journal entries, correspondence, etc) but now I feel like I'd just be a huge copycat.
