Thanks all for the info, I doubt I will ever break into the top 25 but at least now I know what affects the scores.

Yes it effects the score or yes it is just for bragging rights? Ok then the next question is how and is there any kind of formula, I need to be ranked higher then 684 that is very depressing LOL
LOL yea I visit Mars nightly don't any of you??? No you can't have any of what I am smoking I need it for my nightly trips
Ahhhh come on The only real reason it is that way is for game balance issues not for any 'logical' reasons. I really don't have a problem with it for game balance issues.
One of the games I played with a GREAT campaign was the Panzer General series. Yes I know it is not scfi and more of a tactical game and yes many of you 'kids' won't remember it. I bring it up to point out the features that made it nice that I think could be added to this game. How you did in each scenario determined the next scenario, you could have 3 or 4 branches that could lead you off in all kinds of different directions, thus the campaign could play out differently in many ways,
Then why does a small ship with the same weapon hit just as offten and for the same amount of damage? Still does not make since to me.
I know that the size of the galaxy you play effects the total score a LOT, however does the difficulty level you play on effect the Metaverse score or is that just for bragging rights?
btw: would be nice to have ships that fire in the direction of the gun not through other ships (belonging to you) or in the wrong direction. It is all eye candy, the battle is 'decided' before they show it to you, you can hit the skip button and go right to the end. If you notice the star map will even change before the 'movie' scene even gets
In almost all games I play I prefer a Campaign to sandbox, but in this game I just don't like how they are linked. You don't carry over anything, you even have to relearn the techs. For me the campaign is the part of the game that needs the most work, hopfully they will address this in the expansion.
Those Infulence starbases work well for me, at least on challenge level. Drop one near an AI system that is close to your borders, then build it up with all the infulence mods you have and in no time watch the planet go into unrest and then flip. The draw back of course is the cost, but if you want to expand without going to war it is a good way of doing it.
I find I prefer medium hull ships. You can build them much faster, with good techs they can pack a good punch and still have good def. In battle it is better to have a bunch of ships rather then a a few or just one, sure that one battle wagon can really pack a punch but keep in mind it can only fire at one target at a time. By the way keep in mind I have been playing the game for a total of two weeks so take what I say with a grain of salt <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/
The campaign really needs work in this game, I stopped playing the campaign after I found out you don't carry over techs, it just seemed pointless after that.
Also make sure if you are using beta to use the latest beta and if you are using a custom race be sure to RESET the the race settings the first time in Metavers after a patch. I use custom race and my first game got flagged as cheater, after reading some suggestions here I tried the reset then re-entered the custom setup and I have not had another game flagged.
The problem Skyjack is that happens in EVERY multiplayer game NO matter how balanced the classes are, maybe that is one reason they have not been in a hurry to add multi player they don't want to have to deal with that problem.
Since this game was made specifically for single player then the races don't have to balanced in anyway. I really like the fact that some races are inherently stronger than others. Only multiplayer would need for balance between the races. Why would Multi player change that fact unles you are talking more then 2 players then I understand. There
I am adding a message dialog to let you know if your race config is invalid so that it can be edited. Sorry I am new to Metaverse so I don't totally understand what you are saying. Will this message appear before we start the game, after we have selected our options? If so how can I fix my custom race so that it is not invalid? <b
I am on 1.3 beta 2a and I submitted my first game last night and I have a cheat flag set. I don't use Mods at all so it must be the beta, I guess i won't submit any metaverse games untill the beta patch becomes official.
After completion of the game the option of posting the score on the metaverse is given! Good luck! So You don't have to post your bad games? Wouldn't it be better if all Meta games are posted?
I would also make it so if a Military Starbase is next to a planet that you can not invade that planet until the Military Starbase is destroyed.
Considering that galaxys are made up of millions of stars I would think the maps are only small local parts of a galaxy and that inculdes the largest maps.
I love the idea of multiplayer for any turn based strat game, however I am not sure how well this game would work in that mode. For one thing any galaxy larger then small takes a LONG time to play out, add in 2 or more human players and that time goes way up. It could take weeks to finish a game and that introduces the problem of quitting, lets say you are two or three days into a game and things are really going your way, how willing is your opponent going to be to play another week
Add in the fact that a real galaxy is 3D not 2D, minnor issue if you ask me. Someday there will be a turn based space stratigy game in 3D that will have all space battles controled by the player and in 3D as well. I can dream can't I?
This is one aspect of the game that I think needs a rework. The tatical side should be just that tatical, let the player control the battles, and ship speed should play a part in the tatical battle.
Thanks Marshall I was just thinking that they might add to the bonus that the capital gives thus making all tiles on the planet better. I had guessd that was the way it worked so I didn't try it, now I know NOT to
A quick question from a noob, I have played 3 entire games On tiles that have a bonus is it a good idea or a bad idea to build a resource capital? Example, my planet has a tile with a research bonus of 100%, if I have the ability to build a Technology Capital should I build it on the bonus tile or just put a research lab on the bonus tile and place the capital on a plain tile?
