Yep conquest, military and alliance are so close to the same thing it is hardly worth having them in the game. I think vicotry conditions could use some tweaking. For the most part I have turned off conquest vicotry because I like to crush my enemy but I am thinking of turning it back on as the end game is starting to get boring to me. I wish there was a way they could spice up the end game but every turn based stratigy game I have ever played has this same problem and I am not sure

Last night I ran across a 12 planet that the AI had put a facotry on a 700% research tile. I am sorry but the 'scripting' needs some work, you don't need a factory bad enough to give up a %700 research tile no matter the size of planet.

Yep I see this with most game companys and it is worse with on line games. This game having the Metaverse makes it fall somewhere in the middle. The 'uber' players, the min/maxers will kill any AI period. They spend their lives beating the games in ways the Devs or the average player would not dream of doing. Then they get on the boards and brag about it, not knocking you guys if that is what floats your boat then more power to you <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gi

Not sure how this got off the main topic of the nerf to morale buildings but basically to fix an exploit the Devs made both farms and morale buildings near useless, not to mention tile bonuses for said buildings. I would of thought they might of come up with a better way to fix an exploit then take out a portion of their game. That being said, onto other topics raised in this thread. I think ships can be setup to be too fast, I would make engines take up more space and make them cost m

Paladin thanks for the clarifaction, I knew about Aphrodisiacs but didn't know if there were others. Yea by the time I get around to Habitat Imporvement most of my worlds populations are near or at max anyway, however I still build any wonder or trade good I can, even if they arn't usefull to me, if for no other reason then to deny it to an AI race.

The problem with giving any bonus if you are at war is how easy it would be to exploit. Just decalre war on some minor race who has no way of hurting you and stay at war with them forever. Nice idea but players are great at finding ways to exploit the game in ways that the AI won't.

Those 15 PQ planets are just too tempting to pass up, I try and take them out early, before any other race can go after them or becomes friends with them.

3. More populated planet - more income ?????? 4. How to increase birthrate? 3. Taxes are based on population, the biger the population the more income you have. However it is not directly related, something like the square root of the population. 4. Birthrate is influenced by many factors, the higher your aproval rating the more yo

7. I usually will not build a starport on a planet 5 and under. I make them specialty planets(research, economic...etc) I build starports on most planets, small PQ worlds are very good for pumping out constructors and as a poster mentioned above they can be used for special trade goods so you don't waste a tile on a bigger PQ world.

With my starting PQ 4 planet I just always build one factory, then a starport then the rest factoires. I then just pump out conturctors the rest of the game, they can pump one out fairly quickly. I also always colonize it last of all planets. If some scum race comes around and colonize it first that is even better, I don't have to waste the time or money to build it up and it normally flips to me fairly quickly.

I never put more then one farm on a large PQ world and NEVER in a bonus tile, it just gets to hard to keep that planet happy if the pop goes over 20 Billion. Personally I think population modifiers should be race based. Some races should like to be very crowded and thus should get higher moral for larger populations. While some races might tend towards anti-social solitary life style and get moral hits for too large a population. As it stands now I can play an entire game

I still think that without a true tatical battle, carriers are a waste of time. When ship size, attack speed and manuverabilty are added along with the ability to control all your ships at a tatical level AND in a true 3D envorment(x,y,z axies) in every battle then come talk to me. Until then carriers will be nothing but fluff and a waste of the designers time to implement.

Evil I understand about renaming the planet and that is a good idea but there is a differance in knowing which planet can produce the better ships and which ships are the better ships. If you have dozens or even hundards of ships traveling the galaxy keeping track of which ships are better is important. I guess you could create a ship line that you only produce on that one planet, like 'Pir Small' or 'Pir Med' etc. but that is kind of a pain, it is too bad you can't name each ship.

15 Replies 10,808 Views

It would be nice if we could place some inside the ships. There are some nice hulls with engine visuals already there, why can't I place my engines 'inside' those and why can't I place weapons inside the hulls as well?

Having a planet that makes ships that are 50% stronger than all your other ships can be *very!* nice. But you have to keep track of which ones they are, can you rename ships?

15 Replies 10,808 Views

Until they make the 'tatical' battle part of the game actuly a tatical battle, where attack speed, size etc play a role in the battle, until you can control those battles then adding carriers just seems like a huge waste of time to me.

Yes the final planet can be flipped, you get a message about how your influence won over the entire race. Yes very random, I like to play the flip stratigy a lot, last night I had a game where I had a total of 9 planets in disorder, for months not a one flipped, then within 2 turns 4 flipped. I have won several games with a military victory without ever invading one planet, well a couple of Nuets since they don't flip.

Thanks Pierpoint for the answer. What puzzels me is how people post to use the weapon type your enemy does not defense, to me that would be fine if you only are playing one AI but each AI sets up it's attack and defense differently so if you build your fleets to do well against one AI then it could be weak against another. What I try and do is focus on two attack and two defense lines, I then build my ships so that half have the one type of attack while the other half have the other, w

I have a quick question, is there a differance in fire rate of the differant weapon types? Do you get just as many attacks with missles as say with lasers?

9 Replies 6,958 Views

Now I only build small hull 3 Hyperwarp III and as many weapons as I can fit fleet 10 - 14 together and go for it. You will lose some each attack but they are cheap to build. Yep that is how you counter that type of ship. It has no Def so killing them is easy, just build tons of cheap fighters, sure you will lose lots of those cheap fighters bu

My bigest problem is I have designed an entire fleet of ships that fits my play style only I can't always remember which techs pop them and there is no way to look at player designed ships that you don't know the techs for, at least I don't know how and if you can PLEASE do tell Once I got the basic engine/weapon/features down I started playing with the looks, for the longest time I did not know

There are so many settings that affect score, difficulty, number of races, size, tech rate, allow tech trading, and that is just to mention a few. They all affect the score in a small to large degree so I am not sure how you could 'normalize' the scores and I would think it would be more of a guess as to how to alter total score based on all those factors. So I am for leaving it the way it is, keep in mind I hate playing on anything bigger then large so I understand from the start tha

Don't have a custom anything, but thanks- i'll just keep playing - fun game. well done. Do you have any mods loaded from the boards? If you do then that is your problem. You might want to de-install the game reinstall and then update to the latest NON beta driver. I had the same problem but I played with custom race, I had to res
