It probably ranks equally with getting hit by a flying welly with Tabasco on the hobnails.
Speaking from personal experience, it is definitely not recommended for the feint of heart!
Lecrayon makes a lot of sense.
Their belly is full, but their ravenous appetite for freebies unsated, so they whip through the message board on the way out to take a little parting shot at us. Duck and wave g'bye.
or - have one person respond " If this is meant to be a serious posting with a question or comment, please rephrase".
I don't think that we can really dictate a response plan that will work per se, because every troll, moron, or idiot who posts is a distinct individual. Some will respond well to a calm, composed reply, and some just assume that you're a PC ninny. I do think sometimes, that watching your rude posting slide down and off the MB without a single response is definitely a teaching technique.
I hope this blog thing is not contagious.
double howdy
The old cliche said to choose between lighting a candle and cursing the darkness. Candle was the operative word - not flamethrower. If it works good for you ( and can be skinned to a satisfactory degree) then love it. Just don't insist that everyone else join you!
The ladies in northeast Thailand sometimes teach manners with a clublike kitchen item called a "saccabeua". It is the pounding element in a large wooden mortar-and-pestle type arrangement used to reduce hot peppers to incindiary red liquid. Residual pepper juice on the saccabeua enters the wounds inflicted, and adds further enlightenment to the trainee.
Thank you FL for the explanation of "welly", I think. Has Wellington boot throwing evolved over the years to the point of qualifying as a martial art? Just curious.
Who ?
These attitudes aren't just with computers. A certain German auto maker adopts hydraulic valve lifters 20 years after everyone else, and then splashes TV adds all over with a smooth running engine, and a voice which croons " listen to the sound of an XXX's valves adjusting themselves!" As if they had just invented some marvelous new technology! Caveat emptor.
Threw his rods one night some years later while disciplining an obnoxious Chevy. Sold the pistons to Carnival Cruise lines for use as ship anchors.
Thank you, Koasati.
Glad that it missed me, but feeling guilty at the same time because I know someone else wasn't so lucky. Praying for slinky and everyone in Louisiana.
Congratulations, and keep your guard up, especially when everything seems to be going very well. You're inspiring me to give up the cigs.
When my uncle heard that they were going to discontinue the old Hudson Hornet around '51 ish, he ran down and bought two new ones. Disassembled one straight into the attic as his parts warehouse. Most of it was still up there when he sold the house. I'm sure he must have informed the new owner about the "bonus" in the attic.
The System Idle Process is a human algorithm inversion: appears to be idle while actually performing useful work.
Somewhere there's a line between skinning and desecration. ( and when I finally get on the right side of it, you'll see some DB skins from me.)
I liked Mac's easy interface very much back when I used them at work, but I felt like, behind that friendly interface, they stripped away much of my sayso and power. I've always been able to make Windows apps do things with "poisoned" files ( wrong file preamble, footer, etc ) that they didn't want to do. Back then , the Mac people seemed to have made that virtually impossible on their machine. You never told it anything - it always dictated to you what you would and wouldn't be permitted to do!
The moral of this story is to surround yourself with yutzes if you're hell bent on looking good. And keep Superman 20 feet away at all times.
Sawatdee motion. Phop gan mai deuan proong nee!
This one won me some money, but I had to take along screenshots of the squares being checked with a color picker. People would not believe it without hard evidence. Then again, neither did I.
