Don't you miss going home smelling like garlic, sweat and smoke? No, I miss the burns from the 'fajita skillets' that were always piled oh, I don't know, about ten feet high on top of my broiler. It was a 'skill' to snatch the one from the BOTTOM OF THE PILE, as that was the white hot and ready to go skillet for serving fajitas of course... and then there was the weekend ritual of actually having to climb up inside the hood and clean it out... yummy. If

Yes, and it is real life. All the foodies I know think its funny that you all think its funny. That's our world - we live in it. My whole career has been like "Waiting". I couldn't work a normal job anymore. You don't think I know this world of yours eh? I did my three year 'tour of duty' working as a line/broiler cook for Chi-Chi's... with a head 'chef' by the name of "Mojo". The best time of day was the lunch rush since they offered the 10 minute lunc

if you're going for a business degree to improve your career, DeVry or University of Phoenix are fine as far as i'm concerned. Thanks for the tips Dystopic. I'm actually pretty bright (despite my 'childlike' actions in here at times... ) and bio-science seems interesting enough, but it would obviously require a more 'in depth' education than an online service can

Hell yes I am using my employer's hi speed internet access to peruse these forums daily. It is rare that I am on here from home, but if I am it's during the weekend. So every time you see me post something on here you can pretty much be assured that I am 'at work'. Now if only I could convince them to upgrade our severely lacking PC's maybe I could actually play at work too! <img src="http://images

You know, if this actually comes to fruition I think I might be in trouble as this would definitely be a way to entice my wife to fire this game up and play for a few. Looks awesome and a great idea!

and literature from the maganize rack in the section where the kids can't reach. Spelling error aside, ahem, again... Those magazines that the kids can't reach ARE actually the only 'books' that you can judge by their covers... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL

Hey GW! Where have you been? I play on medium to gigantic, preferring gigantic of course and at one time I did use the 'emigration' technique to build up a planet's pop, especially if it was on the edge of my territory/influence borders. It really does wonders for the planet growth as can be expected. Lately however I have pretty much stopped this practice and go more with what Mystikmind said and just ferry 'troops' for invasions vs. building up a planet. Doesn't mean I won't do it in a pinch

Damn, Stormbringer. That really, really sucks. Nothing like a mortgage to focus your priorities, huh? I don't look at it as 'sucking' necessarily since I do have a nice little house and we do have our cars so at least I can manage. Money has never been a 'priority' to me as it is to some people I know... I would rather be happy and have enough to cover the bills if you know what I mean, it's just the 'emergency' type things that crop up which seem to hi

Can you name another game you've ever bought where the lead developer of the game has personally emailed you multiple times to personally try to resolve your problem? Cari is the lead developer of Galactic Civilizations. She personally looked into it multiple times and has interacted with you. I have talked to you as well. And yet, at the end of the day, you feel "let down"? Do you really think that's a reasonable position to take? I apologize

Well I am a geezer, 48, divorced, 3 kids, 5 grandkids Evil, My wife died in a car crash. So which one is it TL? Seems to me you are caught in a bold faced lie here so please show us which one is the 'true' statement. You sir seem like nothing more than a 'possible troll' and a definite liar. I will respect Kryo's wishes and not flame away here as you and that are beneath me. So enjoy your game that 'runs just fine' as you said, wh

Surely this isn't just about money for Halliburton. It can't be. You know the old saying Oz, follow the money. I haven't been able to find any job creation statistics. I can't wait to see how you respond, as always! I haven't been able to find any myself, but I really haven't tried lately. As far as your 'promot

A brief reprise from the crashes proves that it is your machine I can see how you would have misinterpreted this one so I will clarify. My brief reprises come from the fact that sometimes I can only play a few turns and when doing so I have never had a CTD. Other times, I can play for a few hours and still be fine. Then there are those times right in the middle, not the 'time frame' of minutes or hours but just those times where the CTD rears

So Evil, since it is you that has so many crash problems, and you are very vocal about them, maybe it is time to look at your machine, and stop blaming the programmers. Uhhhh, where have you been dude? I have updated, upgraded and downright raped my PC to 'make sure' it wasn't on my end. Memtest came up negative, i.e. my OLD RAM was fine, but I upgraded with brand spanking new OCZ RAM, and ran all the tests again after installing to make sure I didn't b

The stock market is at record highs and the economy is growing, even while we are throwing billions into Iraq. Again, money that 'doesn't exist' except in someone's ledger. So the stock market is at record highs huh? Based on what? Real gold backing real paper or theoretical, non tangible assets looking good on paper/tickers? I doubt the numbers are based on actual gold sitting in our reserves, which would have to be there to back the paper push right?

would it have been acceptable to leave Saddam in power while he was torturing and killing his own people? Was his decision to gas the Kurds acceptable to you? Sorry Oz, I can't agree with this. Saddam's 'extermination' was very minor in numbers compared to the death and destruction we are causing. Besides all of that, the main event you are raising is the 'gassing of the Kurds', which, if memory serves me, was done in retaliation AFTER an attempted assa

Yes, and as stated, this doesn't seem that it would make the Metaverse games 'fair' anymore since we aren't playing on the same level field. And now we have some 'choices' to make eh? Well, if you can GUARANTEE me that this 'bug' isn't the cause of a CTD AT ALL, then I guess I can handle that. Can you guarantee this? I've never received an appropriate response to my emails/debug errors, with the exception of maybe two or three that Cari looked into for me, and she came up with nothing at that p

I can't believe there is someone playing who actually ignores the miniaturization techs. I always make it a point to research miniaturization at some point, usually earlier than later.

With my posts, i tend to think i have read too many posts from EvilStormbringer...he is another one who cracks me up at times.... Well thank you... I think . Sometimes I get a little bit 'out of hand' but you know how it goes, especially when posting from work. There are waaaay too many posts in here that have brought me a good chuckle or two... the one about Mumb

Okay, here goes. 36 years young and playing since pong. My favorite in the arcade would have been Donkey Kong Jr. and Star Wars... can't remember what the actual name was but it was the 'wire frame' graphics game. Of course Double Dragon was always good for the two player aspects and Tron was pretty good too. As far as game time now, it's pretty much hit or miss. Since my wife plays games as well, she can at least understand the 'need' for some quality game time. I usually get to play on T

Peace through superior firepower often encourges less fighting, not more. Nicely put there Oz... I would think that anyone who plays this game knows about superior firepower and what it can accomplish! Even though real life 'shouldn't be this way', it sadly is and it also makes perfect sense. If my stick is bigger than your stick are you really going to chance taking a swat at me? I doubt it... but there are some stupid people out there. <img src="
