but if we try the free ones which are not yours then is that like saying that you really want Windows but hey go try the Mac and if you don't like it come and buy Windows...you put some really good dynamic dreams out there for us to try and evaluate and then you can charge since they are yours...you are saying that if someone elses dream doesn't work then I should not buy yours...now that has got to be the best business practice i have ever seen....give credit to the people who make dreams and d

they have set to only use 1 folder that you choose...they have already stated that they are going to leave it that way unless they decide in the future to change it. it would be nice if it would scan all your folders for images but that might become a problem with load time evry time your sysem is started and every time it refreshes.....just thought i would let you know...hope this helps....

It seems to be missing a bottle opener for my beer and where the hell is the camera? everything has a camera now....oh yeh and neon lights also...
what do you have for a video card? which version of the drivers? mem, cpu, etc....just helps to know...will try to help you resolve this issue....
this is not about the cost of the dream but the fact that everyone who has different system configurations than what they have at stardock. people want to make sure that the dream is going to be stable on their system. some dreams work fine some don't and all the dreams work for some systems. until all the drivers from nvidia and the final dreamscene from MS can be hammered out, i don't see a problem with people being a little worried that they just spent $5 for a dream that did not work on thei
for those of us that seem to be comitted to buying and renewing with stardock every year our suggestion for a try before you buy is not so far fetched. seeing as vista is so new and there are so many people with ultimate and deskscape whose problems just keep growing whether it be software or a graphics card, we need to know if it is going to work on our systems. not just yours which could be close and and even maybe the same configuration, but if evreyone uploaded thier system stats to you I hi
Gee let me guess. Do you have and Nvidia graphics card? did you say, yes I do? if yes, then that explains everything since nvidia can't seem to fix the problem that is causing the driver to stop. they actually have people starting a lawsuit against nvidia for this. the only thing you can hope to do is wait and hope nvidia can resolve this issue.....sorry dude that this is happening to you as well....
Nice fix guys..thanks for the quick fix...Rhodry was right...just download form link in your email and redownload...
COOL, at least you are working on the problem and thaks for repling so fast.....
resolve the issue.you better check the other forums and see how almost everyone has the same problem of blank screen syndrome. not my problem. they made a second attempt at making a dynamic dream and for most people did not work. do you really think that stardock would love for everyone to call and tell them their problem with their products no matter how little they are. thats what these posts are for,,,,
The ultimate question. Where did the dream go? Did they figure out that there was a problem with the dream not working on almost every computer. I am very disappointed at them for making this ultimate mistake of not perfecting it and charging $8.95 for crap that don't work. If they fix it we better get the update for thos that bought it or did we have to pay the ultimate price as suckers.......
i believe it disables it because of quicktime which runs in compatability mode. when you use itunes for only music you chould have no problem...but you could always just download the latest one which they say works fine with vista..but can you really believe what the software companies are saying about how their products work fine with vista.........remember Hi i'm windows and Hi i'm a mac.....
oyu don't have to uninstall them. if you have to redownload the drivers, install them, then go to the system32 folder and find the nvlddmkm.sys file and rename nvlddmkm.sys.old, then go to the nvidia folder and copy all the .dl files and then put them in the system32 folder and double check the nvlddmkm file and it should have a new date ....try that...
hey found out something about the nvidia drivers. all versions of the drivers since they have been out for vista have not been replacing all of the files in the system32 folder. if you look you will see that the file nvlddmkm.sy is older than the other files by far. if you look in your nvidia folder for the same file you should see that it is newer. you can try if you want.. copy al the .dl files and put them into your system32 folder and this should help..hope this can help someone.....
most people i know that have had this problem report that the nvlddmkm file is the problem..nvidia and microsoft know of the problem but don't seem to be working to hard to find the solution. on some forums people have stated that whenb a dream starts, it also trys to decode with the purevideo which is built into the 8800 series and that will shut down the dream and say that you have recovered for a driver that failed. i know it sucks to download a dream and not have
it is the codecs that are causing the crash. i took upon myself to download all the dreams and try each one. for nivida users the way to find out, even though you don't need the old purevideo decoder is to download it and watch how many times that codec conflicts with a good portion of dreams. i know it sucks but we will have to do trial and error with the dreams or hope that the people making the dreams will encode them so that most people can use them..still new, still the same old windows, sa
hey Volcan, have you tried turning off DEP? this helps with a lot of programs or updates not installing on some systems....have you manually deleted dreamscene from your system and reg?
00NukE has a good point...will anything do? I hope not not cuase i sure as hell aint putting crap on my system, just so someone who sees my screen can say that was sure dumb to put that on there..then i can say that at wincustomize anything will do since the standards are low...but that won't happen now will it..standards are here for a reason and that reason is for people who want QUALITY, a dream that was built using standards, rules, guidlines, etc....but hey hey nice try, just try a little b
that error is one due to overclocking and also due to the fact that the 100 series of drivers due have major issues..you should install their beta drivers much better around..also whenever yor install deskscapes and it starts to go downhill reinstall the beta drivers..also turn off your DEP as this seems to help..no overclocking till drivers are all set with nvidia..i have almost the same set up as you do and through trial and error this has worked...but the way it is installed is key as well..w
if you own ULTImate and want dreams, then yes you will download deskscapes and the dreams....stardock is hoping that those who are getting those free dreams might purchase their software to enhance their version of windows.hey maybe 1 out of 5 will buy, but that is a win for stardock who knows that if 1 person has a great experience with the software, they will probaly tell 3 others and they will tell more which gets more sales.....
i have found that alot of the problems is not with deskscape but with your video drivers being blown to crap when deskscapes is installed. it happens every time when there is an update to deskscapes. if you update deskscapes try having your background as just wallpaper then update-reboot-reinstall video drrivers -reboot- then apply deskscapes make sure that when you apply a new dream, figure out which ones are causing your deskscapes to fail....it also doesn't hurt to turn off DEP...yes the dyna
