Clearly you didn't even read my post. I simply can't compete with someone who doesn't read my posts, so I'm just going to bow out and leave this thread.
You know how they say "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all"? I was going to say something about how "if you don't have anything to argue, don't even post", but since you're fleeing from this thread after you made yourself look like an idiot, I guess you already know that lesson. Let me
Uranium - 235
Overall they perform alright, but it takes AGES to post or reply to anything, and 80% of the time I get server errors and lose my entire post.
As a bit of a side note for people interested in TrueSpace:It will make you think, and actually use real strategy when playing. No more can you bunch up defenses at one choke point and create an "uber fleet" to crush everyone else.
Not to rain on the parade, but why is every system a linear slog of trade routes, with almost no branching at all, if you want to avoid chokepoints? If you want them to be somewhat reduced in terms of access, by all means restrict trade routes
Considering he said stealing, and not theft.
They mean the same thing. Hell they even have the same definition and are synonyms of each other, if you want to get into semantics. Definitions of stealing on the Web: * larceny: the act of taking something from someone unlawfully; "the thieving is awful at Kennedy International" * In the criminal law, theft (also known as stealing) is the illegal taking of another person's property without that
I'm always #1 economically. I sometimes get to the point where it's literally impossible for me to spend resources faster than I make it (crystal / metal too). Even if I control a somewhat smallish part of the galaxy, in that I hadn't really conquered any planets, they were just neutral, I still economically dominate. I go to the AI and the have a few buildings around their planets whereas every planet I have has 35 slots of stuff, fleets that are no bigger than my own... so where is all their m
I would like to see a pirate start walking into stores and lifting games off the shelf. That is a much less cowardly way to steal games
Ah, pet peeve here - downloading a game of of Pirate Bay isn't theft. It's also barely even copyright infringement. Theft / Larceny means that someone lost for your gain. You STEAL money from a bank, the bank doesn't have that many (yes, it's insured, but whatever), and you have it. You STEAL a car, you're taking someone else's
On the subject of DRM, I would like to join the crowd of people pointing out that there is absolutely no copyright protection that hasn't been broken in a matter of days. Not even weeks, but days. DRM is an inconvenience ONLY to "honest" customers and you will never find a pirate who says, "yeah they never broke the DRM on *x* so I had to buy it". Never, not in a million years, I'd bet a year's wages.
Actually, when a game would come out with a new version of Starforce
good luck, Honorverse is known to viciously defend its IP and serve out cease and desists rather quickly...
"HELP! SOMEONE IS MAKING THEIR OWN MODELS INSPIRED BY OUR IDEAS AND RELEASING IT FOR FREE!"
I disagree. Designing a product with traps in it to thwart would be pirates without considering the impact it would have on legitimate users in the market was what ruined it for the game. It was simply a bad project management decision. This is so wrong it beggars belief. The traps had no impact on legitimate users, only on pirates.
Did you even read the article? He said right in it, pirates complaining about the traps most likely hurt sales as people heard that
gas giants are nothing more then vacuums in space
The definition of irony.
If some one breaks into your shed, you would put a lock on it. Its not really different with games, but Stardock is doing pretty well without a lock, but its hard to track these kinds of things.
Actually it's more like you buying a car, only there's a device hidden in the driver's seat that propels an iron spike through the body of whomever is in the seat if the car thinks you're NOT the original owner. I buy a car, I'm going to do whatever I damn-well want with
Stardock should go scoop up the ILE staff :D
This is what / where now?
crysis (87K in 2 months)
Crysis actually outsold its sales expectations - the developers never expected it to be flying off store shelves, specifically because of its high requirements.
And we should believe you instead of someone who works in the industry... why?
Torrentspy or someone posted their own stats and less than 15% of torrent activity was on games (includes console and PC). About 70% of torrents were TV shows and movies.
Video game piracy is still a tiny fraction of overall piracy. Something like 70-80% of piracy is movies and TV shows (TV SHOWS! Some 'piracy').
And nobody believes me when I say that piracy is an over exaggerated myth.
My personal favorite Homeworld 1 song was track 16.
Defensive Hangars now host one additional fighter/bomber wing per/platform
PS: A handful of fighters/bombers is called a squadron. A handful of squadrons is called a wing. A handful of wings are called a group. ;)
AI-wise they don't put enough bounty on anyone. Midgame the AI is putting 1500 credit bounties on each other - I'm putting 20,000 credit bounties.
I was going to write up a huge essay on the merits of my idea, but then I realized who posted this, and laughed it off. I can't believe I almost took you seriously.
In other words, you knew none of your half-assed stupid arguments would change my opinion of you that you're a moron? Or because why? Because you "wouldn't change my mind"? Because I'm not a moronic sheep like 99% of the internet populace? Because I don't try to hide what I mean behind futile

Stardock releasing an optional Single-player Campaign for Sins of a Solar Empire in dozens of monthly chapters at the low-low cost of $7.49 an installment
Pay-per month only works for the MMO's... right?
That's the stupidest idea I've ever heard. Today. Let me break this down for you. First of all, $7.50 is a fucking RIP OFF. Unless these 'installments' were promising at least 20 hours of gameplay each, I wouldn't pay anywhere NEAR that much. $
When you look at the sales of really hardcore games like Crysis and you think, "Wow, those games should have sold a lot more,"Wow, christ taylor is an idiot Neither Crysis nor Supreme Commander "should have sold a lot more", because there were (and still are!) basic fundamental huge issues in those game.
Actually the biggest problem facing those two games was that they BOTH would devour systems. SupComm was nearly unplayable on a big map on anything less than a quad-core
Yeah radiation is kinda lame. Who the hell worries about repopulating that fast? On a tiny game, radiation could be crippling, but on a large game it means nothing, absolutely nothing.
