About #2, I like it... but then again I would hate for my frigs to spend all of their time shooting down bombs rather than their source. You know what they say, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." In this case it would mean that you are probably better off shooting down bombers so that they can't shoot any more bombs at you. But it is an interesting idea. Perhaps a happy medium can be found.

I love the idea of a kill count. Maybe even break it down by class and to what faction they belonged.
Yea, missed that. Sorry again lol A few more to add: Data Archive: When you queue up research in this category, all research queued subsequent to that should be at the reduced cost granted by research into the data archive. This is because you don't actually start those topics until AFTER the data archive research has been completed. If you select an enemy ship and it phase-jumps away you can still see all of its stats. I think that once it leaves an area that you
Hmm, the "ghostly glow" in the last pic reminds me of the shiny asteroids that the ATI people have been reporting. Just out of curiosity, Major Stress, do you have an ATI or something else?
Yea, they compress very nicely in zip files so I'm sure they'll be able to squeeze them quite a bit before the final release.
For what it's worth, I have only managed to finish 1 game before it reached a point where it would crash every time I loaded it up again.
Yep, just preorder and you'll be in beta2 when it starts. And they won't bill you until beta 2 starts.
You know that it doesnt really look like that. Yea, it's really more of a blue haze. That image is false-color taken in infrared. Still, pretty picture.
how many BCs should one build per planet/colony? 1 more than the guy next door It's your mojo vs. his. Whoever has more powerful mojo wins. Yea, the AI's are broadcast center crazy. In the early game I try to keep ahead of them by building more and by keeping ahead in the research but by late game I pretty much give up. It isn't cost effective to out-
However, my computer has taken it a step further, they will let an enemy wipe out one of my planets, then proceed to colonize it. (as in, they'll keep jumping a ship or two every couple minutes to see if I'm dead or not, then when I am, they colonize it. I do that to the computer all the time. I'll follow them into a battle and have a colonizer handy. They do most of the dirty work but I get the planet. My solutio
Agreed. A simpler solution might be to just lock the position of the cursor while the right mouse button is depressed (while you are rotating the camera). Worked great in Homeworld.
Yes! Give me ability queuing And make that auto setting persistent when you save and load the game again. Right now it reverts to manual every time you load a savegame.
Right. As it is now, when you queue a structure you are instantly creating an object with 0 hull points so 1 hit is all it takes to destroy it. That's like killing a person before he or she is conceived. Maybe the parents want to have a child but until they actually get together and "make" the kid you can't kill it.
What is with blowing up orbital structures that don't exist? Until construction begins they should be non-targetable since they don't actually exist. I'm tired of taking a planet, queuing up a bunch of stuff for it to build, and moving my fleet on only to have 1 freaking scout frig waltz in and blow up 30,000 worth of stuff before I can get any ships back there.
OMG!!! Schem's my grandma!!
why are you naked? and why was Schem taking the picture? There's actually a good story behind that picture. It was a hot summer day and we (my brother and father) had spent the day at my grandma's house and went swimming in her pool. It started to get dark so we got out (thus the nakedness and messed up hair). We were fixing something on my grandma's computer when she decided it would be a good time to test out her new digital camera... on me. So to dis
I'm thinking he means these:
Yea, I've got them blue eyes. Always turn red in pictures.
It's a few years old but yes, it really is me
Some things I'd like to add: You are able to see that an enemy planet has an orbital shield even though you don't have vision of the planet. Similarly, I was able to see munitions and explosions from a battle around a planet that I didn't have vision of. Those are bombs going to the surface. <br/
I like the arrows. They let you know what the ship is doing. If its current plan is "jump to the next planet over by way of 3 hostile planets" or "attack that crystal extractor even though there are about 30 enemy ships the other direction" then I want to know about it.
Ok, looks like I goofed up on that one. Must have just been short on resources or something. And sorry Xavior, just getting tough to keep track of all the posts. And you didn't have the part about them drifting halfway across the solar system
Ok, all political considerations aside, ramming would be bad for game play and unbalanced for two reasons that I can think of. One Stratteggi already said: If you attack an enemy, and completely counter his tactics, outmaneuvering him utterly, victory seems certain, but then he crashes his ships into yours so you end up with a draw. Not balanced. The other is that is would highly favor the TEC. The TEC are the economic powerhouses and will have
There aren't multiple galaxies. Just solar systems. Don't worry, that confuses everyone. Zoomed out the solar systems sure look like galaxies. We've been complaining about that since the trailer came out.
Hmm, for the last tier of research the topics became available as soon as I queued the research station... so maybe I just didn't have the resources at the lower ones... could have sworn that I checked that though. Oh well...
