Thanks, I did most of it. Turns out all the standard ways of doing shadows don't work with a.) that many units and b.) with that much difference in scale (compare a fighter next to a titan) so I had to come up with a custom way of doing it and c.) the combination of full camera rotation and arbitrary light source position. So yes, shadows have been around for awhile but no one that I know of has had to deal with the same issues we had to. For those among you interested in the deta

Did you complete all the Titan research subjects? The building of a Titan won't progress unless you have the next research subject.
I actually quite enjoyed it especially since I recently had to go through all my notes on the matter :)
The names on the concept art are almost never the final names - they are just working titles until we finalize the strings. Its always been that way :)
One thing I can say for sure is that CPU resources for mines is going to be quite reduced.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "arcing" turns but the new code means ships don't move forward into the enemy firing squad line of death while attempting to move away in the opposite direction. There are other improvements as well.
Synchronized single target abilities autocasting is fixed in my build of Rebellion.
You misunderstood me. The new code will be faster and smarter than the old code which is slow and gives stupid behavior in certain circumstances. Win - win.
Fixed. Thanks for the detailed report.
Its being dealt with along with some other ship movement improvements and optimizations (it eats up a lot of CPU time).
As Brad and Brian mentioned, Ironclad and Stardock have a fair bit of new stuff coming for Sins in the way of updates, patches and so forth. One area of concern is the memory and CPU eaten up by Space Mines. I'd like to hear some suggestions on how we can keep mines in the game without consuming so many resources (and if we can make them more fun that'd be great too). Keep in mind that they need to be racially distinct. If you have any ideas, let me know in this thread a
I've changed this so that by default, planets don't show up in this view. You can hover over a star to see the small planet icons or hold down ALT to see all of them. It will be included in the upcoming Diplomacy patch.
Oh, and I accidently logged into the wrong account to post that. It is in fact a legit post.
The curious, technical guy in me just wants to ask... could you provide a description of what the bug actually was? For instance, a desync in earlier versions was caused by using the wrong random number generator on effects like missle barrage, which could cause different random numbers to be used on each person's pc.
When a player leaves the game its possible that all the command information from the other player
One of the most common desync's in Diplomacy has been found and was fixed in the 1.01 patch. I've updated the patch notes to indicate as such as it was missed. There is still an illusive and much less common desync that affects Sins, Entrenchment and Diplomacy that we have yet to track down however we are getting closer. As far as we can tell, you are 99% guaranteed to avoid it if all the players in the game make sure to restart the game before playing each multiplayer match
tbh I never noticed the pirate guns had a problem..... no desyncing fix?
One sync bug was fixed, it just got missed in the patch notes. I've update them above :)
Typically this is a bad install. Uninstall all Sins products, manually delete anything in the installation folder and reinstall via Impulse.
Later this month I'm scheduled to film a lengthy interview on how the AI in Sins works. I'll post here when I can give more info.
The manual and readme files are probably the ones you want to check out and both are found in the installation folder. Also, you may want to read through Brad's walkthru found here: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/375420
The manual and readme include explanations of much of the new stuff and are included in the installation folder of the game. Also, Brad has posted some great walk-thrus. Check out one of them here: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/375420

Hi guys, We recieved some sync logs last week which are helping us narrow the issue down. Using the data from those logs we've created a special Entrenchment 1.05 build that will print out some particular data we'd like to look at in new sync logs. If you'd like to participate you can download the exe at www.ironcladgames.com/sync.rar . Once you've un-rar'd it ( http://www.rarlab.com/ <a
I must have missed adding it to the changelog then. I do know that we had changed the Enforcer, just can't remember when. I'll have to check the logs when I return to the office.
I don't have my notes in front of me but I thought the Enforcer change was on the previous update.
