Dear Diary, It has been a long day. And a short week. But, first about the day. Woke up after 9 am. Those red ants have become a regular affair, a nasty kind of morning alarm. Sometimes I am too tired and lazy to even succumb to their powers and I sleep late into the morning even when they bite me everywhere. I woke up and since I decid

I just needed a place to type in. Can't call it writing, since I'm not actually writing. Won't say things are going too fast, but things are definitely getting over. All the milestones that roughly make up the expectations of anybody's life seem to flash by me as we speak. I can't collect myself as I used to when I was younger. Everything seems so much bigger, I can't seem to get a hold of them. I just want to not get into them. For the first time in my life, I'm satisfied with exactly what I
There are just a few simple changes that can be made in our daily lives and somehow all the bad things in life seem easier to deal with. I was just thinking about the things I have wanted all my life, really, really wanted. I have always wanted to travel. I want to learn to play the guitar, the piano, the drums and more different musical instruments. I want to record and perform covers and songs that I have w
Revolutionary Road was a movie I recently saw that left me very depressed, even though I didn't cry. Pay it forward was also very sad.
I enjoy reading the most by lying on the couch, snacking on an apple and putting both my legs up on the back-rest and locking them. If I feel too lethargic and bored by sitting or lying down, I like to walk around and read, preferably in fields or the woods or something like that. I also enjoy reading in a crowd where I don't know anybody, like in a train. It makes me a show-off, I know!
For sometime I have believed that discipline is the one quality that separates a real writer from an unproductive one. You cannot be called a writer if you don't write. You just can't. I have written three articles in three years, all for a college magazine that no one reads and hardly any writes for. However, I can't help beaming with pride and giving myself an imaginary pat in the back(my arms aren't long enough to actually pat my back) because I get to see words I have written in print. I
when you die, your family immediately start planning your funeral. in order of importance, they first prepare the menu of the food. next they prepare the list of who all are going to eat. next they decide upon the venue. next they perform all the religious rituals with absolutely no heart but just to show off people and make sure that they themselves are going to heaven. and through all this they hardly ever shed a real tear, though they shed plenty of crocodile ones. nothing is ever mentione
I went to the college fest on thursday. Aalap 2008 was good this year, tough people hardly came due to lack of media partners. In this age, word of mouth is just not enough. I wore a yellow dress, which most ignorant Bengalis call jamas , worn by uncool little kids back when I was young. Though people mostly wore black, I did get compliment from the not-so-ignorant people. The inter-college band competition had 13 bands, none of which were from Bethune itself. Hardly 6 or 7 got to per
Happiness, joy, bliss, success. A first class is finally mine!!!! I have got 61%( 122/200) in Part 2!!! Manali Chakraborty got 64%, Payal got 63.5% while Nilanjana got 60.5%. We four are the the only ones to get a 1st class which makes me 3rd. Everyone else, the rest of the first-classes from last year got less than I did. Ha ha. God has been so good to me. I beat Samragni!!! Yippee, I pledged and I did it. I beat Atasi too. Nothing tastes sweeter than success. Usually people score high in th
Results didn't come out today. The day was a complete waste. I know my results are not going to be great. I know that this degree won't be of much use to me except that I will be a graduate. Without a professional degree, I can't get a proper job. I hated being in college. I dislike all my classmates. Payal and Srijeeta were horrid today. I wish life in Bethune would end. I wish I could just graduate really fast and join a professional course. I want to feel alive. I want to feel like I am wo
Results come out tomorrow. I only get to know the total of the two papers I took- Drama1 and Fiction. On thursday I will get the marksheet. There are 3 things I am dreading: 1. people in Bethune- classmates and teachers and their reaction on hearing my marks. 2. my family's and relatives's reaction. 3. my own reaction. I wish I could somehow escape the first two and become invisible or something. I have no time to feel bad about myself, I usually end up d
I have decided to give up diary writing all together. There is hardly space in this flat for another notebook. I barely find enough place for my course material and novels as it is. I finished reading Twilight on Friday. I am not swept off my feet by it, though I understand why millions of teens and tweens are. I enjoyed reading it, and I am looking forward to the movie releasing on Friday, the 21st of November. Kirsten Stewart starrs as Bella, who I have a hunch will portray the character ve
Lately, I've been wishing my life were different. And not the kind of different that a holiday somewhere or a shopping spree would allow. Those are bad ideas anyway, since the price of everything economical has increased, except my source of income, my father's pension. It seems to be psychologically proven that a woman's relationship with her romantic partner is directly proportional to her relationship with her father. When my teacher mentioned this in class, it turned me off. My f
well, ive been here almost two years and i haven't done much better than you. why don't you tell me how your 6 year experience in India was like? I am Indian, I live in Kolkata.
I have a simple life. I am 20 years old. I live in Khardah, a town in 24 Parganas(north) district in West Bengal. West Bengal is in India. I live with my mother. She is a housewife. She has never had a job. My father passed away 4 years ago. My brother stays at home on weekends. Otherwise he stays in his flat in Kolkata, where he works. He's been working for almost a year now. He's an electronics and communications engineer, but for now he is a programming analyst trainee. I live in a three r

Will you let me wipe your tears each time you cry alone? You don't believe me You don't want to care But I know. Your refusal is not good enough. I care. You will have to let me love you. I won't give up. You are my purpose. My existence. My life has no other meaning but you.
i really badly wanna watch it. i love robert downey jr., and to see him as a superhero must be amazing. i hope its a good script cuz robert has never delivered a bad performance in his life. its good to watch good actors, not physically very well built to bring a certain amount of brains to superhero films. others in this category, the very good tobey mcguire(peter parker was more worth watching than spiderman, something that has never happened before) and the incredible christian bale
yeah i watched it. paula really bugs me, unless she's being positive about a contestant i support has done badly. i dont understand how she thot jason sang two songs. was she even paying attention? is that y she's unable to come up with constructive criticism?
I had watched Hugh Grant on Inside the Actors Studio a while back. It is a great show, very informative and smart. I really have learnt a lot from it. And while Hugh didn't really say anything worth taking notes, it was the funniest interview ever! I watched some of his other interviews on youtube and he's so brilliantly funny everytime he opens his mouth. Since then I can't even watch interviews of most celebrities because no one can make words an absolute joy in the film industry like he ca
i am really tensed about my psychology practical exam on saturday. there are a few experiments on attention, perceptual reversibility etc where i have to light these huge flames out of this kerosene thing . the problem is, i am absolutely scared of fire. i am nineteen years old and i can't even light a matchstick. it is not like i didn't try but i am just so scared. when i was four, my thigh got burnt with a firecracker. the marks aren't there but i just can't go anywhe
well, as far as role playing goes, i am reminded of the famous monologue by jacques in shakespeare's as you like it , famously called the seven ages of man . you know, the one which goes, all the world's a stage and we are all players and we all have our entrances and exits etc (i am paraphrasing of course). on a personal level, it is a fact. sometimes i dont like to answer the phone, especially if my mood is bad but if i do have to answer it i have to sound all cheerful. that
i don't think we can leave jim carrey out. liar, liar was damn funny. and what about ben stiller? can anybody forget THE SCENE from there's something about mary?
She's all I have. Even when she's gone. Even if she never comes back. I have her in my heart. I am all her. "For God's sake,I can't be married to an independent film-maker!.",she said, hurling the words into the distance of two meters between me and her, filled with pure air."Independent" met me with slowly pronounced sarcasm while "film-maker" was more subdue
