They are returning the Insane map size back to the original but, the others that is the new size with the patch and is working as intended.
But we live in an age where people 4+ CPU cores. The AI should be doing your taxes while crushing you. So while the 1.9 AI doesn't do your taxes, it does make a lot of use of your CPU cores. Those playing the game no doubt noticed the pretty massive perf differences. I didn't optimize anything. I just made the game use your hardware a lot better.
Yes, more please :D
Like I said, it's basically a quasi-sequel disgui
I noticed in the 1.9 opt-in patch and also in the 1.9 official patch that ship movement on the map is very, *very* choppy and slow. Since that was not the case before it can't be my machine (Intel Core i7-4720HQ, 2.6 GHz, 32 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M) or operating system (Windows 10 Home).
It's been choppy since the beginning, truthfully it's better since they killed the exploration treaty and reduced it to only one faction, however as the
Stardock, I've asked this in the past, with not much response, why do you continue to answer more on Steam and, less and less on your actual forums. I just went to the Steam forums to see that you have replied several times to peoples concerns about the map sizes there but, have said very little if any here on your forums. I know maintaining 2 forums can be a chore especially when receiving the same types of feedback, however, here is where you have your more loy
And now, after many years of haranguing that mods are annoying distractions that 'pollute' the game
I may go that way as well, I normally dislike mods and wish to play the game as intended but, with Stardock quiet on why this was a good thing to pull back the map sizes 18 months after release may require me to go for a mod.
Second line under balance. Reduced the size of maps while keeping the same number of objects, effectively increasing the galactic density.
Thanks Rhonin I missed this... I still don't understand why but, thanks for pointing this out.
By contrast, the Immense galaxy in v1.83 felt vast and spread out, with the Insane galaxy size being that much more ridiculous (which is a good thing). In v1.9, Insane is pretty big, but it still seems smaller and inferior to its v1.83 counterpart. Has anyone else noticed this as well? If so, perhaps there is a way to change the XML settings to get back to the v1.83 map generation behavior?
[quot
First off thanks for all the hard work on making these changes. I look forward on continuing to play this great game. On a different note, I don't see anything on this patch related to galaxy sizes? Does this mean that did not end up getting put into the update? If that's the case thank you.
[updated 12/12] Reduced the size of maps while keeping the same number of objects, effectively increasing the galactic density.
Don't like this option making the game smaller this far after release is like a slap across the face. I understand you are attempting to make the game work better and perform better but, isn't this something that should have been covered in the beta process not 18+ months after release? Are we going to get the "i
1.9 Feedback on SP Game (normal AI, abundant everything, very slow tech rate and game pacing) AI Behavior Turn 140 (ish) I had 6 AI all declare on me of approx 25 factions that I have met, all stronger military than myself. However, I am ranked 1st by 4x the nearest faction. Turn 155 (ish) All 6 AI requested peace after I've now doubled their military, however, I am still ranked 1st however, now only about double the nearest faction. &n
...JK.. I went into and out of the screen and that seemed to do the trick.
I wish it was this easy for me, I tried that, adding other things to queue, going to other planets/ star bases. Nothing worked until I went back in later :( good to know I'm not alone.
I have a comment but, it would not be productive so I'm going to leave it as this.... I know it's frustrating and it's a very frustrating issue for many of us, however, it's a known issue in which Stardock is hard at work to make this game great. This as well as many other issues I'm sure will be addressed in the weeks/months ahead. :) . Also I don't think you need to post this issue as a reply to the 1.9 forum post as well as creating it
There used to be a suicidal difficulty level in the game, which marigolden has taunted about a year ago. This level has been since removed/renamed a few updates back.
The most difficult level in the game for AI is Godlike and always has been? However, I do agree game speed is just something to delay the start of the game. As far as buildings I don't wait 46 turns for a building to be done I purchase it for 300 credits or whatev
1.9+ patch feedback (bug) One can not cancel projects once in the queue. (example research project) Please take a look at this. Thanks Edit: This seemed to clear up upon reloading the game I was able to cancel the project so I don't know the specific cause.
I've always wondered why starbase bonuses stack. Towards the end of the game I have more starbases than planets. Mind you I normally only go to each planet a few times through out the game and change things I don't check it anytime there is a new tech or building so I human can do better.
I had a game in GCII where the Yor got the event which allowed it to snowball in strength. I am do not remember it I think it was called precursor relic on one of its planets. This event gave that particular ai a bonus to everything (per turn). It started out small and snowballed if you left it alone. Well in this game I did not see the event pop up.
Agreed... There is a similar event in Galactic Civilization
Clarification: my goal of this post is to brainstorm potential ways to improve the AI governor. We don't need to solve a NP-complete problem that gives absolute optimal placement. A non-optimal algo that improves AI by 2-3x in efficiency will go a long way.
I agree I've noticed that they do not use adjacency very well at all. It's like they need to place each type of building first prior to looking
1.9 SP game feedback part IV Continued core game feedback. (General AI Behavior) Torian, placed a Solar Plant next to a capitol +2 on a Floodplain where a farm would have benefited the most from this location and a solar plant has very little benefit. Instead placed a farm next to a factory in a different clump followed by a research building. Another faction built a farm, next to a marketplace, next to a factory & resea
I suppose that was an exploit to be corrected, but the fix and gone too far and upgrades are now too costly. When I have manufacturing planets that can bump out the best ship I can build in 1-3 turns or upgrade a run down ship many tech upgrades behind for 13k credits, I'll scrap it an
