Yeah, diplomacy is not one of the strong points of the game so far, but apparently the gameplay beta has left alot of gameplay elements out according to the powers that be, so meh.

Research treaties gives you a small bonus of research points, which really isn't very effective unless you play with all 9 and get all of their treaties, otherwise you just get like 8 bonus points per turn, when your producing like 100. And economic treaties give you extra cash per turn. (when I say you, i mean whoever is on the receiving end of the treaty, because it is not two way).

Since when has TV or movies made sense? It would be one thing if they actually made passes, but if they are just going to sit there and shoot at the enemy as they do, they don't need to move forward and turn, they should just spin around. It also affects gameplay because sometimes I will tell my guys to attack someone but they will overshoot the target and have to move and turn around which leaves them vulnerable. to attack vs if they just turned around without moving forward. Same goes for e

By carrier stations I'm assuming you mean the cruisers? You would need I think 80 tactical points for that and I don't think they increased that, only logistics points.

So the miniseries are from the first 3 books or the last? Its been a "couble" of years since i saw them the last time, but im sure they got the planet tobecome green in Children of Dune as i remember. So aint that the end? The first three. Getting Arakis green is not the end of it the series, far from it in fact. Anyways, I didn't think of this before but the Naked Sun by Asimov is also

Yor for me as well. I've always been a fan of people making machines that turn on their creators. Or actually, any creation, machine or organic, turning on their creators.

Damn, psugar took mine. All six of them, prequels by Brian and Kevin aren't as good imo, and haven't read the 7th by Brian though, but as I said, prequels weren't so good, so meh. Anyways, yeah, Dune is pretty much the only sci-fi novel I've read that I really could get into, I've read some aliens/predator novels, and some halo novels, but most of what I read is non-fiction so...

Multiplayer beta will be the next beta sometime in august according to the powers that be. Anyways, what I would like to see is more empire building. Right now I feel like I'm not the emperor, but just a military commander who has control over building naval bases on planets. I want to see things like tax rates, morale, better diplomacy (ie trading more than just resources, perhaps ships too, and planets, the economy and tech treaties idea from GalCivII DA was cool, and more alliances

It's not a 4x game. Not any more than starcraft. Explore: Find the next support base (planet) location and Expand: Build a Com center/nexus/nursery (colonize a planet) and build buildings around it and exploit 2 (3) different types of resources. Then continue exploring to find your enemies bases (planets) and destroy them (as that is the only way you can win the game). If sins is a 4x game, than so is starcraft, and I think most people would agree that starcraft is not a 4x. Just

If there's one thing about this game that I have learned, it's that IC has taken the 4Xs to the bare minumum. At it's heart, sins is not a 4x game, it's gameplay is very much starcraft or Rise of Nations (which was not a 4x game but was more one than sins is imo) in space (and if anyone actually wants me to explain that just pm me or something). Which is fine, it's going to be a great RTS game, and it will give me and many others many unproductive hours of pleasure. However you are more of a

The problem with logistics is on small maps, you can't always "just get another planet" because they are all taken. And so some players are going to get the stiff arm if they don't colony rush, which shouldn't be the only effective starting strategy.

I don't know, I tried that with a flak frigate, and the frigate would attack whatever I told it's follow target to attack. It did neither follow close nor defend, IIRC the target was a light factory.

Cruisers definitely need to be renamed. Modern day cruisers are actually the most powerful ships that at least the US has in it's arsenal as far as naval firepower goes. I also however agree with schem, "support ship" is a bit wussy. Perhaps "support cruiser." From the US Navy's site: Cruisers - multi-mission warships capable of engaging multiple simultaneous targets and employed in force support or independent action "In force support or independent actio

I've seen someone with a much larger bounty than me (I got it up to over 1.5 times my bounty, and they still only attacked me. Seems like at least my version of the game the pirates don't really react to placing a larger bounty on someone else.

Nope, I only have one trade post, and one refinery, while everyone else has like 3-4. No, the pirates only go after the human players. I also can't figure out why pirates would want to bomb a planet like that. Makes no sense. Pirates go after the booty, you never hear of a huge pirate fleet bombarding a random costal city because they felt like it. Attacking shipping is fine, that makes sense, but they don't need something that fires nukes at a planet. Unless they are doing so for ransom.<
