Your problem is your fighting armor with mass drivers. Armor is the anti-mass driver of defenses. Try switching your ships to using beam or missle weapons, and try to use shields if the thalans are using beams, point defense if they are using missles, and you will find you beat them everytime, at least until they start placing defenses on their ships to counter your weapons, then you have to switch again.

The "Move: All grouped" would have to be relative to the gravwell though, not ships produced from. Otherwise you would have on fleet across the system from your factory, make another fleet, move it, and suddenly your fleet from the other side of the system shows up.
You also forgot to add, is this an offensive fleet, or a defensive fleet. Both have very different requirements. An offensive fleet needs to be very mobile, able to dodge or neutralize in some way planetary defenses, whereas a defensive fleet needs to be somewhat mobile, able to respond quickly to a threat, but it needs to hold it's ground and supplement your own planetary defenses.
About the KOL not being huge, it is the first TEC warship designed to be a warship. It would have a more efficient design than the other TEC Capships, and so would offer more bang for its size. well not really. as TGE said its there first war for a millenia so they would panic. thinking "OH GOD!!!!" so there going to strap the biggest guns, the latest tec and design a ship that can handle it all. then s
Ugh, not this again. A flagship does not have to be big. It does not have to even be mean. A flagship of a fleet is just the ship that has the ranking naval officer of the it's fleet onboard. In calling the Kol the TEC's flagship battleship, it just means it's the first one, which it is.
Yeah, that happens to me too. They are all grouped and like 2 or 3 of them jump ahead, I've even had several groups of 2-3 wait for the others in their little group before jumping ahead of the rest. It usually isn't too bad for me though.
Ah, ok, I thought I had read that somewhere. Well, regardless, if IC is working with SD then it must be a trustworthy (no pun intended) company.
Indeed, Stardock and IC (although I haven't heard of any of IC's games other than SINs, are there any?) are the only gaming companies I actually put trust into when concerning games.
Thanks guys, that's exactly what I was looking for.
Sova is fine, actually looks like a carrier, leave it alone. The marza on the other hand could definately use a sleeker look.
Ok, so I'm reviving this thread for a question. Those of you who have it, what would you suggest in terms of video card(s), ram, processor, etc? Particularly if your pc runs it well on relatively high settings, what is your pc build?
August to be exact.
Yeah, I really hope that IC lets us download a few more copies of the mp beta so we can try it out with our friends over lan and such, and that we don't have to play just over the net with other beta users.
I very occasionally see my fighters attacking non-strikecraft if there were no strikecraft to begin with, but the hotfix seemed to actually fix it for the most part for me, and it doesn't seem to be a consistent problem.
I've seen 4 factions become 2 in one galaxy (before I explored it). Just keep an eye out for when a faction dies and it wasn't you that ended it.
I was just looking at the marza's missle barrage ability, what would happen if you set it to a passive ability, would it just travel through gravwells firing missles at anything it saw?
I think the current system is fine. Also, jumping between stars is faster. If you watch your fleet for long enough, you'll find that there is a point along the way that they accelerate to about 2-3 times their previous speed, and then decelerate on the other side of the jump about the same distance from that star.
Ok, I'm really confused at this point, are you two brothers, or twins, or something? Like you guys went into business together or something? Or do you just have the same last name by coincidence? (I will probably forget about this thread and ask this question again in the future)
Yeah, battlegroups are possibly, as Dai said. Renaming planets and ships will be available in the release, but they haven't put it in yet. And the devs have already said no ship customization other than capship abilities (which by level 10 makes them all the same and looses the whole customization thing).
Yeah, I've tried to increase bounty on dead players and I can't. Maybe you don't have the latest patch or something?
Actually, this beta is about gameplay, not the interface, however, they still listen to suggestions regardless on what it's about (especially since an interface dedicated beta is a bit ridiculous, not enough content for a beta). Anyways, are you sure it was the fighters who went to attack the hangers and bombers who went to attack the fighters? I bet since you say you get the two confused sometimes it was the other way around.
If any of you have played Homeworld 2, you'll know what i'm talking about: the big ships just floated there shoot at everything they saw, while everything smaller would move around avoiding fire. I have played Homeworld 2, and indeed, anything that wasn't strikecraft did infact just sit there firing at whatever they were firing at, just as it is here. I never saw a single frigate, destroyer, battlecrui
Angros, that is actually a really good idea for researching the cap ships. However, I do think that cap ships should be researchable early on in the game, other wise the first 1-2 hours of gameplay will consist of nothing but frigate battles, which will get boring. But I'm sure there is some way to implement that idea. Perhaps by reversing it. Making the cruisers come after the cap ships as a way of researching how to get the usefulness of cap ships cheaper and more abundant.
what im wondering is how the ships manage to arbitrairily stop.. wow on spelling.. oh well im lazy.. anyways, whatever happened to the laws of thermodynamics.. you know.. an object in motion stays in motion.. and what about all the planets and stars staying in the exact same spot for an entire game? I understand that there is no real measurement of time in the game, but if you consider how long it would take to build an entire ship or to travel fro
