Indeed! This forum and the Paradox forums keep me entertained during slow work days. Then I like to double-check the Wikis for updates. If I could, I would play my games; but I tend to become a lock-jawed, monomaniac once the game starts up and would no doubt be quickly caught playing during working hours, so I must use self-discipline during the daylight hours.

Hutber's Law states that "improvement means deterioration".
Where exactly did the first "skin job" cylons come from anyway? [cynicism] Actors who did not want to hide their face behind a metal mask? Producers who did not want to spend their money on metal suits? [/cynicism]
Anyone have any experience with thousands of fleets at the same time? Good heavens no! I've never played anything larger then a medium-sized universe and my fleets number in the tens. My patience is very limited so larger games are not in my future. (Well, I actually 'started' one game with a gigantic map once, but then I had to go change my britch
The WIKI...that is probably where I saw it. (smacks head - rolls eyes - sneaks a quick peek) Yep. That's where it is. Thanks for the insights everyone. I'm starting to find Normal too easy, believe it or not. I think I'll ease my way up to tough and see how I do.
Hey all. I know I read this just in the past day or two, but now I've lost it. If someone knows, can you point me to the post regarding a breakdown of the difficulty settings for the AI? At what level is the AI NOT cheating. It seems I remember that the AI was at its optimum a level or three above the NORMAL setting; but I'm asking for help here. A search dug up nothing, but m
I've played multi-player 4x games. They are a lot of fun. Here is what is not fun. - Drop-out players - Angry, foul-mouthed players - Experienced players who pass themselves off as beginners - Beginners who get pissed when they don't sweep everyone the first time out of the gate - Players who spend hours finding exploits in the game system so they can "cheat" themselves to victory, using the excuse that it is the fault of the developers for having poorly programmed sec
Thank you, Christoph Nahr, where ever you are!
Choppy video is only on the external, flat-screen, LED monitor. On the built-in screen (it's a Gateway laptop), it runs fine without any issues at all. Go figure.
Birthday arrived early (with permission believe it or not). I think it had more to do with them wanting their iPods ordered in time for Christmas, and since I was ordering everything for them they said " ... and you can go ahead and order your game ...". "Do you want to wrap it and wait until your birthday to open it?" No ... duh! <img src="http://images.stardock.com
Just joined, but I have my birthday order in for GalCivII already. LOL Brad can be proud. This is the first game ever where I purchased the cheap, jewel-case version of an older game and was so impressed that I started making immediate plans to get the latest version. I've never, ever done that before. You see - I'm cheap. ;) No, not really. I'm married with children, therefore I am discerning with my money. Very discerning ... Darth Griffin? Is that Peter's bro
I (finally) noticed it last night in the options screen, right where you told me. Last night was the first time I really paid any attention to that screen other than saving a game. And, yes, UE is already patched to the latest, greatest version of the available code. Pretty much what I expected too. Thanks. :HOT:
I have just purchased the Ultimate Edition of GalCiv1 and was wondering: a: Is the UE already at the latest, greatest version of code available? 2: Is there some way to determine what version the game is currently set for? (other than via Stardock Central, I mean) ;)
Thanks, everyone. As for who stole my nickname, I have no idea. They stole both of 'em. Crusader RELee I was really hoping to stay consistent across my forums - BUT WHO CARES! (5th Element quote) While I could buy the game myself, then my family has nothing cool to give me for a present. As much as I love them, socks, handkerchiefs and after shave gets old after 20 years. Excelsior!
For the first time in weeks, the entire family sits together for the evening meal. Surrounded by the loving wife, beautiful 17 yr. old daughter, and handsome, smart, college-freshman son, I begin the conversation. "Since I have you all here at once for a change, allow me to point out that my birthday will be here in only three more weeks, and I actually have a request for a present for a change." "Let me guess," chimes in my beautiful daughter, voice dripping with sarcasm. "I
Perhaps it is because they are called fighters. Rename them to be destroyers or sloops or carracks or clippers or junks or schooners - anything but fighters. I think that is what is confusing everyone. They see fighter and decide that fighters need carriers. Eh! What do I know? I don't even have a nickname.
Just to add my two cents worth. I do not miss multi-player at all. I had my fill of it back when I was playing Stars! night after night for all those years. Please continue to expand the single-player experience in the GC series. Thanks for a wonderful game.
