I just beamed over from /forums.galciv2.com to hopefully find out that a demo would be any day now, I'm sure it was reported at galciv2.com that the Sins demo would be available about one month after Sins was released.....now it looks like it will be a few more weeks to go....
Patching the game as a reward for the early-adopters is more important that putting out a demo for people who have, if you ask me.
Have you turned down the video settings, salainzero? It sounds like you have a similar, but different issue from Gyson here.
Well, I could, but I don't think I should have too. Sins isn't all that graphically intensive, is it? All it is is planet/ship models and a sky box, after all. Also, I don't think my issue is related to the text bug. AFAIK, there's no text onscreen when I get the problem.

I've had the same problem, but I don't have an old machine. I'm running a 1.8Ghz Dual Core, with 2 gigs of RAM and a ATI Radeon X1950 Pro graphics card. As a benchmark, it can handle Crysis at medium settings. Zooming appears to cause the problem, with the game locking up when I either zoom in or out in larger battles (which means, for me, about a hundred in total).

I don't know about the rush of siege ships as such, but it infuriates me when I jump my ships into a gravity well, only to encounter the AI massing siege ships. The number of times they've subsequently jumped straight past me back to my now undefended planets is beyond counting. However, I don't blame the game. I blame me not having learnt how to properly position my defense yet.

Has anyone else had problems running Sins through Steam? When I do, the fonts don't seem to render at all, leaving me with an entirely blank menu. It's very strange.

Hmm...I've only managed to run through the tutorials and start a game on the small beginner map before I had to switch this off. Is it always the case that planets have a few frigates in the vicinity when you show up? I assumed that they were exploration fleets from the AI player, and couldn't understand why they opened fire as soon as I showed up. Feel better now I know they were actually "neutral" militia vessels - I though the diplomacy model had been thrown out or something.

I don't trade techs either. I just find that it's a good idea to re-examine all my planets and see where I'm falling short of my goals - dropping approval ratings, poor production levels, weak military - and adapt my research policy accordingly. I could see how you could use a queue system. I guess it's just a bit of micromanagement I enjoy

I haven't seen anything like that either. Personally, I rather like having to choose my next project - it forces me to have to stop and take stock of what I need, rather than just blindly continue with a queued project.

Hey, quick question. Bought this game over the weekend, and I'm completely hooked! Only just thought about updating to the newest version, though. Can anyone tell me whether updating will have any effect on the game I'm already playing? ie. will I see the changes when I load my game, or will I have to start a new one to enjoy the improvements? Thanks
