This happens to me too, I'm running the gold edition. The shots actually "miss" visually even though the damage they cause is still done. So I just figured it was all part of the way the show was done. Kind of like how the shots go towards the enemy regardless of the direction your ship is facing.

I don'y think its really what they're SUPPOSED to do, i just think your game is behaving just like everyone else's. on the other thread it was mentioned that if you have a ship in AI space when the peacekeepers arrive then the delacre war on your whole race, not just your ships in violation. Not that this actually helps you since you dont know when they may be coming to get your ships home.

IS your miner actually on one of the large asteroids? the first time i tried, i had mine sitting in the field but it wasnt actually mining. It shoulkd automatically shown a wrench icon and say "5 weeks" , and if you zoom in you can see some rings moving from your ship.

where do i find the latest patches to download? maybe i just need to wait a turn and see. The icon was yellow before i even colonized it. i picked a factory to build and it showed up in the tile with the hammer above it, as if it was building. But after leaving the screen and coming back in, it still said "never" for time to build. usually that clears up the time-to-build number. I've always played the diplomatic type of game. Even with Civ2 i was all about building up my empire and keeping just enough military to protect. One of the reasons i moved onto this generation of TBS 4X games was so that i could win without eventually destroying everyone. no its like a class 17, which 9is why i RAN there with a colony ship, before someone esle researched the tech I wanted to take advantage of my ability. and the tiles are all green. i thought maybe my superablility only went as far as allowing a colony. I noticed that those techs to colonize hositle environments each have 2 sides (i think). is this because one side lets you colonize and the other lets you build?

Thanks now i think i'll skip work today and go check it out. I agree withg Gaggi, i think nly a human player with think up a way to counter the speed penalty. I also wonder if the AI would think enough to make taking out the starbases, both military and influence top priorites, even more than usual. I have another question about the Yor super ability. I colonized a barren world just as it says i can but it seems that i cant build anything. is this the case? that i can colonize

Thats a good question and one i would love to see answered. im playing as the Yor now, but i just started an it will be a while before i can test this out. I'd almost hate to ask this, but if you had 2 military starbases would the effect stack. well i guess not other wise the speed could theoretically be -1. never mind. I don't think there is one, a list that is. Now if SOMEONE would go ahead and create it... On the other hand i don't think many people really use the default ships so i don't know what kind of interest there would be in it. And it would be a major underatking since each race would have its own list. Just keep a pen and paper with you while you play and jot it down as you go.

The tech tree seems disjointed to me: am I supposed to beeline to one specific tech type and adapt my playing style (warmongering, diplomatic, influential) to that tech? You can certainly do that, it might work as a warmonger, then you can steal the other techs as you conquor planets. my military was massive. id say like 5 times the AI's i had 4 huge hulled ships. one was attacked (this is after i gave up and started the war) and took out a fleet of 7 losing about 5 HP. i think that one ship can take out its entire military. now i had 3 of those on the planet with the spin control center. still no closeness. just friendy. i dont wantt o have to play militarily, i like to play a balanced game and see where it takes me. one iof the reasons i wanted to move onto the nex

Newton's law of universal gravitation. the sum of the masses divided by the distance between them. and i think theres supposed to be some constant that gets multiplied (?). Basically a planet would catch a moon before another moon would since the plant has such a greater mass.

I know there is the screen where we can read what techs we have in common with our opponents and there is always the trade screen where we can tell what we have that each AI player doesnt, and vice versa. But these can be time consuming approaches to compare what we know to what they know. I would like to see in the next update, a screen that allows me to see these comparisonns more easily. actually its WARPdrive that folds space, hyperdrive just goes ZOOOoooom fast. and you will need acceleration because you can't initiate hyperdrive or warp in the gravity well of a planet. so you'll need to get away from it speedy quick. zoom zoom. anyway if any of you have girlfriends or wives DO NOT let them read this thread, you'll NEVER get near them again, you may as well ask them to play D&D with you.
