Pherdnut? Are you from Chiken? Bawk! Yep. I thought this was the same as the old forum at first so I thought I'd forgotten my password and registered without tags. Haven't had much cause to play with the chikens for a long while but I stop in at the forums occasionally. Hopefully Sins will allow me that opportunity.

Chikens have had at least one (maybe two) girl HW players and several Mechwarrior players although one was BSing supposedly. I would guess Blizzard has probably attracted more women to its RTSes with their narrative elements than most.

Heh... This is almost appropriate, but now that I'm learning PHP I'm looking forward to telling someone, "I see your wiki has grown as big as mine." Actually yours was bigger but mine didn't have "weasel" words. Wikipedia cracks me up.

My best guess is something of a mixture of MOO and a Blizzard RTS with the massive scaling/automation factors being all its own and some interesting new 4X concepts too. You can call the 3D movement factor a Homeworld inspiration, I guess, but aside from the fact that it's spaceships and a strategy RTS it bares little resemeblance to the HWs, particularly since IC is so committed to avoiding giving an overly huge edge to micromanagers which is pretty much the entire basis for HW multiplayer comp

Uh... is campaign mode still happening? I was kind of hoping to see a Blizzard-style approach to that where playing through all the factions in chapters completes a compelling narrative. I'll get most of my longterm SP fun from sandbox mode, I'm sure, but I think the backstory is interesting enough to warrant a scripted campaign and space RTSers keep getting shafted in that respect.

linky: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARPANET We're not about to have this deevolve into an argument where you attempt to assert that the time-delay involved in trickle-down economics is the reason we had an economic boom during the Clinton era and the reason it ended towards the end of the Clintons was because Clinton was working against the trickle-down effect rather than the bubble bursting on the dot.coms are we? Because if we are, I really miss the days when the majority of

I think the old races stuff was outdated anyway. They've got entirely new ships from what we thought was a near complete showing in the screenshots before.

Actually I like people comparing this to HW, HW was a great game with a good community, one that we should try and get intrested in this game. Actually the HW community spearheaded the first major forum on the game. We were all at the original and then IC's original forum and then filtered out as it became less and less certain when a publishing agreement was going to be finalized or when we were going to ge

They mentioned some kind of additional science/tech you can get your hands on in an interview. I think as a fusion of RTS and more traditional turn-based 4X with a strong competitive multiplayer element, the open view of the tech probably makes sense. Not sure if there is still a campaign mode or if it's all sandbox at this point.

I think that's pretty reasonable. At least better than Doom 3 which required computers that were -2 to -3 years old.

I'm sure US advancements have nothing to do with a disproportionate amount of taxpayer dollars being burned on the military industrial complex owing to the ridiculous lack of campaign finance regulations and everything to do with alien autopsies. Oh well, at least it got us the internet early.

I was looking at the swag and couldn't imagine myself wearing any of that stuff. I hate to criticize when I don't have the means to offer a better alternative but the IC logo is kind of 'meh. I don't hate the color scheme or the font but that shield with grill in it looks like a sticker the Autobots would slap over the regular logo of dead comrades. The sins logo is pretty cool, but without the fading red/black silhouette element it looks more softwarish than artsy. Your artist for the faction s

Oh man... It pains me to say it, but I'm not sure there's going to be another collosal BSG space battle for a while. The ship's beat up and the writers appear to have overestimated their abilities to create compelling love pentagons. Supposedly they actually climb into vipers tonight though. Hope there's a little action although I'll be happy enough to see what all the hubbub among the actors and producers is about this particular episode.

Real HW fans have been watching this game since IC first unveiled it and know that it is not HW although even the best of us had to take a few seconds to get over it what with the fact that if we ever see another HW, it's not likely to be from Relic and definitely Vivendi who is just sitting their bloated, gangrenous butt on the license for now.

I was geeking out over this game back when Ironclad first started employing all of us HW fans to get the word out with an unofficial forum. I realized I was fretting too much over the game and whether it was going to get a publisher so backed off for a while. The look of the game has advanced dramatically and hats off to the artwork. Just wondering. To what degree has Stardock influenced the development of the game. I like those pretty new textures but has that set the minimum specs up

The HW community was fretting over this issue when the game/forums/publishing issue was still in its early stages. I think the reason they left it out is that there would be too many balancing issues with whether or not you inherit a ship's level and its race specific abilities and its also a lot more micro. Remember, it's NOT HW, even if it has a lot of appeal for HW fans.
