I'm more puzzled by the lack of balance between the stock races, say, the Drengin vs the Korath. Korath have clearly superior base stats, the same 10 pts to spend and a much more potent super ability. Their advantages run precisely in the direction the Drengin want to go as well (mil prod, weapons, easy planet conquest), so it's not even a question of being "different"... they're simply better. Was someone asleep at the wheel, or was balance simply not a consideration in this case?<br/

I always play the Drengin and I am usually able to intimidate the AIs in the early going. Grab a quick military lead, then visit with each other race in turn and collect "contributions". Each of your neighbors coughing up a few hundred credits adds up quite nicely, and the resulting war chest can then be used to beat down the race who thought they were strong enough to resist your demands. Political Affiliation for a Drengin warmonger? in Strategies GalCiv2 Forums

I recently got GC2 and I've really enjoyed playing the Drengin. I've found that attacking one of my neighbors in the very early going can be quite rewarding (tech, nicely developed colonies, etc). I thought the War Party was the obvious choice for this strategy, but now I'm not so sure about that. The attack and defense bonuses don't add much in the early going when your mainly using tiny/small ships armed with lasers. Of course, the soldiering bonus comes in very handy... In m
