Bah, the heck with tech support. I not only can and do all of my automotive srvice repair, I also fix all of my PC problems with out the aid of tech support. I find that most tech support personnel know so little that they are useless until you get second or third level support on the phone.(I guess it helps that I am a Master Auto Tech and I have been a computer geek since 79)

I have 5 systems in the house. My main system(off limits to all), my server(off limits to all), my work laptop(off limits to all), my wife's system(she has been known to let the nieces and nephews play kids games on it), and the guest laptop(open to anyone to use as long as they follow my basic rules of no porn or file sharing). I am running Ultimate on guest laptop and use the complete system backup to restore it to a fresh install monthly.

That's strange. I never have any trouble running dreams with WindowBlinds running. I hardly ever use static wall paper any more on my main system, 99% of the time I am running a dream. The only time I get an error is if Explorer crashes but that only happens occasionally. Also, I can usually find a suitable dream to go with most blinds. Just choose one that you think will go together and change the blinds color to match.

As long as it runs at 50c or below, you should be fine on temp. I read that you broke a retaining pin off...as long as the other 3 are holding tightly, you will probably be ok. Make sure to use speedfan, Everest, or Smart Guardian to keep an eye on your temps until you feel ok with it.

I'm psychic (or is it psycho…I get confused). Just make sure whatever you buy, you have enough clearance for it. I'm pretty sure the dimms are close to the CPU on that board which may cause a clearance issue. And, buy some Artic Silver brand thermal compound, it's the best. Good Luck.

You should go ahead and replace the fan if you smoke around you PC. The tar and nicotin leaves a sticky film on the blades that is hard to remove and like a magnet to dust. I would like to see the complete system back up in Ultimate work correctly. As is, you can only restore to the exact same size hard drive you backed it up from. If you wanted to replace your drive with a larger one than you had, you are unable to restore to it. Also, even if you have multiple back ups from different time periods, you are only able to choose the latest one to restore.

I would like for a window to retain the same layout every time. If I want my Game Explorer window to have large icons in a certain size window, I would like it to save that setting and open that way the next time. As is, I could have a detail list the next time or whatever random setting it chooses. I would also like to see a UAC that allowed me to do something simple, like create a save game in Doom3. Make that a part of a UAC safe list. As UAC is, it's best turned off if you a power user.

I don't see where the Vista Ultimate users are affected by this at all. If I'm not mistaken, Dreamscenes is still going to be an Ultimate only extra. Stardock released Desk Scapes as a bonus to Ultimate and since the rights for it belongs to them, they should by all means target whatever OS they would like to. Remember...Stardock is in business to make money. For them to only target a small minority, Vista Ultimate users, with any program makes little fiscal sense. Personally, I bo
